After leaving the hustle and bustle of the Cancun airport and customs, a short drive to a relaxing resort is generally all that visitors will desire. Look no further than the El Dorado Royale, a Spa Resort by Karisma, winner of the TripAdvisor Traveller’s Choice Award in 2017. Set against the stunning blue ocean and along the Riviera Maya coastline, this adult only resort was designed with the passion of authentic Mexican hospitality.

The sophisticated luxury rooms are surrounded by natural wonder and a pristine private beach and feature beautiful authentic Mexican design and architecture. Nothing is out of reach at this spa resort. Guests can choose from a variety of suites with resort or ocean views and swim up access and hot tubs. Offering all the creature comforts of modern amenities, each visit includes all gourmet meals and specialty snacks, complimentary Wi-Fi, free international calls, and an abundance of activities. Guests can attend live music and shows, 12 swimming pools including a natural saltwater pool, tennis courts, a complimentary shuttle bus to Cancun and Playa Del Carmen, 24 hour room service, fitness center, sauna, and steam room.

Guests may need to book for a full week just to enjoy each of the 13 available restaurants and 10 standalone bars including four swim up bars. With activities ranging from a twice monthly Culinary Theater with renowned chefs and sommeliers, parasailing, water polo, CrossFit, on-property greenhouse tours, cooking, spinning, and Zumba classes, and Mezcal tasting, there’s enjoyment for everyone at the El Dorado Royale.

Pros (+) Staff was very friendly and helpful..Food was good to great. Rooms were well appointed, and the grounds were well maintained.
Cons (-) Beach area is dogged by seaweed type plants. They try to clean it up every morning but they can't keep up with it. Didn't ruin our time here. Most of our time was spent at the Party Pool.

Pros (+) This resort is the perfect place for anybody looking for a premium relaxing experience. The premium experience started with a personalized check-in process with a glass of sparkling wine and a personal concierge; my nephew and I booked this trip using a popular website for booking hotels that gave us this upgraded check-in experience. We arrived earlier than check-in time but that wasn't a problem...
Cons (-) The only caveat is the beach. If you are looking for a place where to experience the beauty of the Riviera Maya beaches, this is not the place. The location is not the best; you cannot swim in the beach and it doesn't have that turquoise color in the water that one expects from Playa del Carmen, but that's not the resort's fault, it's just the location. Other than that this is a great resort!
