Once known as the Portland Press Herald built in 1923, the Press Hotel Autograph Collection now occupies the building and sits at the same corner of Exchange and Congress Streets in downtown Portland. This full-service boutique hotel captures both the downtown scene of Portland and the essence of the news building it habits, complete with an amazing guest experience.
Inspiration for each room comes from the writer’s offices of the previous area. All of the hotel’s 110 guest room and suites have a vintage-styled journalist deck and wood floors with a herringbone area as a centerpiece. Oversized windows provide a fresh breeze and natural light to help view the local work of artists and artisans also featured in each room. Of course, guests will also appreciate complimentary water, tea or coffee along with bathrobes, a mini-fridge, an in-room safe, and complimentary WiFi throughout.
UNION Restaurant and Lounge gives guests both farm-to-table and sea-to-table dining experiences with original takes on classic American favorites. The second option is Inkwell Bar that offers hand-crafted cocktails, Portland microbrews, and small plates of food in the former City Room of the Press Herald.
While at the Press Hotel Autograph Collection, guests have 24-7 access to the fitness center, hotel bikes, turndown service, and Akari Spa that is located just a block down the street. The hotel is also ideal for meeting and events with four spaces varying from 300 to 1,170 square feet. Outside of the hotel, guests can engage with Casco Bay hiking and trails along with amazing Portland sights and food.
