Near ribeira and a restaurants around with tipical food
Breakfast was delicious, location excellent.
Unfortunately I had to move rooms due to the noise at the front of the hotel and the taxi rank. In a room at the back, it was very peaceful.
Friendly staff, great design, perfect location
Sweetened milk in the coffee
The hotel is in a great location, only five minutes walk from the river and the Cais Ribeira and also convenient to many of the other must-see sights in the old town - the Sé, Rua das Flores, Aliados Square etc. - as well some really good restaurants. So it's an ideal base for exploring Porto. The hotel food (breakfast, snacks from the bar) is fine. The rooms are clean and spacious. They have a great innovation that I'd never seen before: every room has a Samsung phone for guests to use wherever they go in Porto, it's got talk time and various apps pre-loaded on it, along with recommendations of what to see and do, and a button to call reception directly no matter where you are. But where this hotel really excels is the staff, especially those at the front desk. On our first night in Porto, my wife fell and fractured her hip. Neither of us speak Portuguese so this was a nightmare scenario. But Marta, Jorge, Ines, Claudia, Rui and Joao transformed themselves into my support team - they recommended an excellent hospital where my wife got an operation and for the next four days, I couldn't set foot in the lobby without "Any news? How's your wife?" They gave me a gift and get-well note to bring her from the hotel staff, shared their experiences of the Portuguese medical system, extended our reservation in the same room in case my wife wouldn't be released from hospital in time for us to make our scheduled flight home, got us a people-carrier to collect her from the hospital and bring us to the airport. On a personal level, they saved me from feeling too lonely in an awful situation and in fact to be on the receiving end of so much kindness from strangers was just awesome and reminded me that people can be simply amazing. What this group of people did for me went way beyond any definition of customer service. My wife and I will definitely be returning to Porto (next time, hopefully injury-free!
The only negative I can think of is there's a lot of construction work going on in Porto at the moment and they start work early, our room was facing the street, so maybe it would be a good idea to ask for a room away from the street.
Excellent location near the river
Excellent location near the river. Great view! Few minutes from great restaurants. Large and comfortable rooms. Perfect staff.
