Excellent for those travelling by train, good public transport. Quiet place near the city centre. Kind and helpful owners.
The hotel is really close to the train station which was exactly what we needed (Google might take you a weird way, but it is actually very close) The host was so kind and ready to help us with any question we had that I wish we could have stayed longer. He was so sincere and kind. The rooms are simple, but include all the necessities. And the bed was super comfortable!
We would have liked a water kettle in the morning to have cooked water. Perhaps if we had asked, we might have received one - we hadn't booked breakfast or anything.
Very quiet rooms at the top floor of the building. Staff is very friendly and spoke wonderful English. I was really only there to sleep and bathe, and it was so much more inexpensive compared to other places nearby. Short walk from the train station and right near the main tourist sights. Recommend for the frugal couple or small group. If you aren’t in the greatest shape, do yourself a favor and take the small elevator, four flights of stairs with minimal luggage got me pretty winded.
The room was clean and warm, and the water hot. Breakfast was plentiful and worthwhile, though it was only a cold buffet. On the morning I needed to leave early they provided with a good packed breakfast. The footpath from the main station has been improved since my last visit, and it is only a 10 minute walk via this path, so very convenient (but don't try to find Balbin using Google maps, as you'll likely never find it!) On my particular dates the price was good value for money. and extremely competitive.
Communication! Although I was an hour late arriving (flight delayed due to fog in London) I was still there 2 hours before the advertised last check-in time of 22:00, but there was no one there to meet me as promised when I e-mailed them my ETA a week beforehand. There was a dimly lit access keypad, but they hadn't e-mailed me an access code. Luckily there was a little bit of battery left on my phone, and after numerous attempts I finally reached a lady who gave me the code and told me where to find the keys. She said she had texted me (and indeed showed me the text on her phone at breakfast) but nearly a week later it still has not appeared on mine.
The owner is a really nice man
