Pros:

Staff unable to check whether I could use AARP or AAA discounts at time of check-in. Said I needed a “code.” Or maybe a secret handshake?

Cons:

Rental vehicle did not have a snow brush snd it snowed 2 of the 5 days I rented the vehicle. Come on - it’s Minnesota March weather madness! I was clearing dude windows with my forearms!

No one joined me to review its condition at the pickup. It had damage all over the exterior. The drop off parking was not indicated by any signage. Very hard to find. The key deposit box was also not indicated by signage. No one available by phone at 9:00 pm. No chat function at 9:00 pm. No directions to drop off parking on website.

The initial car was filthy inside and out….it was covered with some type of sticky, impossible to remove substance. The staff reluctantly switched cars, but not without a bunch of grumbling and a long wait. On the plus side, the drop off experience was seamless and the replacement vehicle, while smaller, was adequate. I recommend renting from another provider.

I was very disappointed. I reserved a suburban and then Avis said I’d reserved some small car in spite of my confirmation affirming my suburban reservation. I had to pay for an upgrade for something that was still less that what I originally reserved. Won’t be going back to Avis.

Overall Experience was great. I also called their customer care to confirm a few things and it was a pleasant experience with all the information that I needed provided. Check out was quick and easy. Return was quick and easy as well. The only thing was one of the cabin boxes was not cleared and had some candy and plastic water bottles from previous renters. Everything else was great.

It took over an hour to get a vehicle and it was a large truck with mpg half what I paid for since I booked a compact vehicle. They ran out of vehicles despite knowing these vehicles were paid for and reserved. The people that left when I arrived had waited 1.5 hours. Others were still having major delays later in the day. Exiting with the vehicle both the person in front of me and myself could not leave because we were not provided with the information needed for the automated and only toll lane. We caused a line that was only resolved by staff manually operating the booth.

Easy quick pickup and drop off. Very helpfull person at drop off to reach our airline. Only negative might be the rental pickup area in MSP was quite dark, so a bit hard to see any existing conditions. Luckily the car was without any issues that were not previously noted.

I had rented a jeep, and was told upon pickup that there was no guarantee it was all wheel drive, so I had to upgrade to a much more expensive car because the weather was really bad. My rental went from $499.00 to $1020.00! This should be noted on your site when booking. The agent was very good and just doing her job, so no complaints on the customer service!!

Car was okay, clean. pickup and drop-off was fine. BUT WATCH OUT FOR ADDITIONAL CHARGES! Upon arrival, they offered an upgrade for $30 more per day which i accepted. I booked for $533 for my rental, I was expecting to pay $653 with the upgrade, but they charged me almost $1000.00 They said I would get my invoice upon delivery of the vehicle, when I did deliver it, they then said I would get my invoice via email. then I noticed the charge. I immediately called them to dispute the transaction, they said it was because I said my wife "might" drive the vehicle so they added more insurance for her. - they did not declare that to me. (I ended up driving the whole time anyway) They said they would get back to me in 24-48 hours with my dispute/complaint. that didn't happen either. Now I am having to dispute the charge with my bank, and I still have not received an invoice from them. BE VERY CAREFUL WITH THESE GUYS. GET IT IN WRITING, GET A COPY BEFORE YOU AGREE TO ANYTHING.

I made a mistake and ordered the cat a week early. Rental would have been 185 dollars. They charged me 100 bucks for a car I never even got. Cancelled reservations more than 24 hours in advance. Hertz charged me more than half 100 bucks. Hertz - rip off artists. Hertz - rip off artists.

Cons:

I was charged an extra $107.00 for something. I still have no idea what it was for and the receipt, which was emailed to me, does not disclose the reason for the charge. I will have to contact Hertz for an explanation. It might have been done in error but it did not apply to any extra that I agreed to pay. I am very disappointed and was quite surprised to see the amount on the emailed receipt.
