The room was large and nicely furnished. There was a high ceiling and windows letting in lots of light there was an overhead waterfall shower. There were high-quality stereo speakers. The people at the desk were responsive, providing advice about restaurants and other places to go and arranging cab rides and restaurant reservations. All in all a very pleasant experience. We would definitely go back.
The hotel is in the middle of the crowded gaslamp district, which resulted in some noise in the evening. I scarcely noticed it however my wife was more aware of it. It did not interfere with our sleeping.
Historic facade with super modern rooms.
The check in was quilt and friendly. Room was beautiful and modern. I love the old with the new. Perfect blend. The curtain between the room and bathroom was the only downside. It made taking showers cold all the time. That is my only complaint. Everything else was great.

Great stay
Location was ideal for staying in the Gaslamp district.
Parking situation was not ideal. Had to park elsewhere for the whole trip.
Beautiful room, nice-quality amenities, walking distance for everything downtown.
Neighborhood is very noisy at night, parking is very expensive.
I liked the modern decor, totally not what you would expect from looking at the building from the outside. The staff was really friendly and helpful. I would definitly come back (without my lil one) I didn't know the room would be so intimate =)
service, staff are helpful
This is a tricky hotel - open shower. Be aware what you are going for.
From the moment we arrived the hotel staff were so welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. The deluxe double room was amazing - very big (bed was huge!) and kitted out with all the mod cons one can ask for - we really were impressed and felt settled straight away. The location is brilliant - a few steps from the Gaslamp District full of restaurants, bars and some shops - great atmosphere during the day and especially at night time. The hotel was excellently decorated - so modern and luxurious for a 4 star hotel.
There was noting we didnt like, but the breakfast was a little basic - a breakfast bag served to your room each morning consisting of a cereal bar, yoghurt and juice. Whilst a cooked/continental breakfast in their restaurant, adjacent to the hotel, would have been nicer, the bag was always delivered at the time requested which was a nice touch. And lastly, a small note re the deluxe double room e on Pent House Level - the shower is a walk in one, situated in the room, so if you are travelling with anyone other than your partner, it may not be the most practical room!!
The room
Very noisy! breakfast sold as continental, is in reality a paper bag...
The staff remembered the guests and were very helpful. Some nights they sent dessert to my room which was a treat. I loved the in room expresso machine - yummy!
Gas lamp district. Lots of history. Close to many restaurants and clubs.
The people were very nice. The free coffee was awesome.
The hotel did not have my reservation. Said it was lost. Also, since the rooms are over a club, it is loud. Their showers offer no privacy.
Room was very comfortable and very well equipped.
The hotel is located in the centre of Gaslamp quarter which is very noisy area on Friday and Saturday overnight.
I stayed at The Keating last year when I was in San Diego for the same event. I returned because I liked the location, the hotel atmosphere, value, etc. The bed is wonderful.
The second night I was there, I was awakened during the night by loud bangs, crashes, thumps on the floor, and found I was unable to sleep. This continued from 1-4 am. After I brought it to the attention of the hotel staff in the morning, they indicated that there had been other complaints. I felt, however, they did not act quickly enough to correct the problem.
The room is beautiful, nice design, everything new and clean.
It's a pitty that the hotel does not have any facility besides the room (not a bar, restaurant, pool)
