The location was great. Our room was spacious and clean. The toiletries provided were of a high quality. The staff, especially the lady working in the morning, were all very friendly and helpful. The breakfast provided enough options to make a good start to the day.
The room was comfortable and clean.
There was remodeling/painting going on in the very small lobby. They were short staffed, and therefore person at desk was not very responsive or friendly. Breakfast in the morning was inadequate as well. I would say their overall problem is poor management.
Hotel des Arts screams San Francisco. It's cool & the art is a nice touch. They offer a daily breakfast & coffee. The quarters are tight & rooms don't have air conditioning, which isn't usually an issue in SF but during my visit it was unusually warm. All in all it was an enjoyable visit to the city. They are centrally located near lots of great food, bars, China Town.
The staff were down to earth and very helpful. The room was very clean and cute. I loved the art in my room. I was traveling for work, and having the refrigerator in the room helped tremendously. The area was convenient, accessible, lively, and safe. The hotel rests just across the street from the beginning of chinatown, which is amazing to meander through. I highly recommend.
I would have rated this hotel with a perfect score had it not been the temperature of the rooms. I stayed for a week over labor day, and the rooms were so hot. The windows do not open but merely a crack. There are no fans, so ventilation is an issue. However, that being said, it was a wonderful room. I know they are in the process of updating some of their systems. My suggestion would be look into ventilation systems, opening the windows, or at the very least, providing fans.
Great location, fantastic concept and very friendly staff.
