South Padre Island hotels

When it comes to the best hotels in South Padre, La Copa Inn Beach Hotel is one of my favourites for a couple of key reasons. First, the beachfront location is ideal. I love waking up and lounging on my private balcony with my morning coffee, before going for a walk on the beach just a few steps away.

The amenities here are also top-notch. Fuel up for the day with the free hot breakfast—it’s better than most hotel breakfasts, with made-to-order omelets, Belgian waffles, breakfast tacos and more. The oceanfront pool makes for the ideal place to spend a leisurely afternoon. Meanwhile, the on-site eatery La Copa Cabana Bar & Grill serves hand-tossed pizzas, burgers, sandwiches and expertly mixed cocktails, so you don’t even have to leave the premises to enjoy your time in South Padre to the fullest.

Hole up at the Sand Rose Beach Resort, one of the best boutique hotels in South Padre. Enjoy gorgeous ocean views from the privacy and comfort of your room thanks to the floor-to-ceiling windows. Rooms are also beautifully appointed, with crisp white linens, premium amenities and a soothing, sea-inspired colour palette.

From there, access a full range of on-site amenities, including a sun terrace, a fitness centre, a business centre and an outdoor pool. As far as dining goes, the restaurant and bar Barry’s Bistro is a five-minute walk away. This is one of the best spots to eat on the island.

I always enjoy their diverse (and mighty tasty) range of offerings, from tikka masala and Cajun pasta to seafood baskets. It’s all best washed down with a frozen cocktail, of course.

This hotel is located right on the water, which makes for a blissful beach getaway. It’s one of the best hotels in South Padre if you’re looking for a beachfront location that’s also near local attractions. For instance, the South Padre Island Birding and Nature Center is right across the road, while Schlitterbahn Waterpark is just 15 minutes south of the hotel.

When you’re done sunbathing and swimming for the day, you can fit in a workout at the sleek fitness centre or simply relax by the sparkling oceanside pool. When hunger strikes, indulge in Tex-Mex and margaritas at On the Border.

You can even place your order poolside (which I highly recommend doing). The rooms and suites are spacious and comfy, with private balconies and high-tech amenities—some also have partial water views.
