Pros: Great amenities, friendly, helpful staff, good food and excellent location.
Completed in June 2005, Whiteface Lodge is the vision of a former Olympian and developer who used decades of building experience to create one of the grandest properties in the entire Adirondack Park. Much of the timber for this Lake Placid resort was hand-milled on-site, and accents such as handcrafted Adirondack furnishings adorn the interior spaces, creating a wonderfully authentic ambiance.Considered by many one of the best hotels of its kind in the country, Whiteface Lodge is nestled in Adirondack Park. This six-million-acre recreation area in upstate New York has drawn nature lovers for decades (visitors have included Ralph Waldo Emerson, the Vanderbilts and Marjorie Merriweather Post). In the heart of the park on Lake Placid, the lodge evokes the region's 19th-century heyday with a wood-beamed exterior, cozy carpet-strewn sitting rooms and cast-iron fireplaces. Amenities and services are decidedly 21st-century, as is the focus on family travel and mountain escapes. The resort offers every imaginable activity for families and adult travelers; including a movie theater, bowling, canoeing and ice skating in the winter. Kanu restaurant and lounge features classic culinary creations and a resort spa has steam rooms, saunas, wellness classes, fitness center and a full service spa and salon menu.
Pros: View from room was great, dinner at the view restaurant was excellent. Christmas decorations were an added pleasure, the common rooms were beautiful. We will definitely be coming back.
Cons: Had to pay for wi-fi
Pros: Very friendly staff, perfect location, walk to everything in lake placid. Beautiful lake and mountain views. Good food, fantastic amenities included.
Pros: In a beautiful setting. Staff aimed to please. Quiet, peaceful atmosphere. Upscale feeling designed to pamper guests.
Cons: Huge complex. Felt like I walked a mile to the entrance from my room.

Pros: Great staff and location. Very clean, no issues.
Cons: No water kitchenett area
Pros: The location of the hotel and the view from our room was amazing. The lobby was beautiful and the staff were helpful and friendly.
Pros: Convenience to local facilities.
Pros: location. Great staff!!
Pros: accommodations were nice.
Pros: really liked the convenience of the hotel. being on the frozen lake was perfect for playing hockey and ice skating. the beds were very comfortable and it was nice knowing the duvet covers were washed and clean unlike a lot of budget hotels. also like that hotel provided 24/7 hot beverage area and newspaper. the lobby fireplace was warm and plenty of seating. the outdoor fire pit was also great.
Cons: THE BREAKFAST WAS INEDIBLE. We were in the Adirondacks and thought we'd have REAL syrup not sugar and corn syrup with food coloring and artificial flavors.
pool and hot tub were great features BUT so much chlorine that I had the smell on me for 4 days that I was there and I only used them once. the parking lot had so much messy slow slush that we ended up trekking it to the room on the carpet. our socks were wet every day.

Pros: Enjoyed the room by the lake very much. Clean and comfortable.
Cons: No amenities such as coffee in lobby that most hotels offer these days...cookies, etc. For the amount charged I feel that they could offer a courtesy cup/sweet.
Pros: Location, pools, lobby is great....very Adirondack
Cons: No tea in both the room and downstairs in the snack shop. That's just bizarre.....not everyone drinks coffee. Room we had was larger than most but terrible, no view, in corner of the hotel blocked by walk. The hotel wasn't full.....why give, anyone that room?
Pros: We had a superior view King room which had a great view of the lake and was convenient to parking. Room was clean and renovated. Easy walk to Main Street. Balcony to relax on in morning and evening. Access to Lake and kayaks.
Cons: It was perfect!
Pros: We really enjoyed our 2 night stay. Beautiful view of the lake, and Whiteface mountain. The room was spacious, and comfortable, as was the bathroom. Staff couldn't have been more friendly.
Cons: We ordered room service (breakfast), and it was just o.k. Service was prompt and friendly but the food was just o.k. We went to BC (breakfast club) down the road the 2nd morning, and that was excellent.
Pros: Shower was nice. Everything was clean. Great view.
Cons: Hot tub was not very hot
Pros: Liked everything except the hot tub.
Cons: Hot "soaking" tub was disappointment - we were all most looking forward to enjoying a real jacuzzi tub - this was luke warm and no bubbles. The lights in tub and pool did not work either.
Cons: The Dancing Bear restaurant was very over priced for the quality of the food. The outdoor heater was not working and it was a very cool night. When the waitress was seating us, we should have been advised that the heaters were not working. We visit Lake Placid often and will not return to this restaurant.
Cons: It's good nice bathroom and parti view. Carpets should be updated. Bed pretty comfortable. Room was clean
Pros: Lake front. And mountains
Cons: Tooooo many barking dogs left alone in room
Pros: spacious clean room
Cons: late 4pm check in
Pros: The bed was very comfortable. We opted for the full breakfast for a nominal $10 PP and it was great.
Cons: Our king size bed room was a little small, but we saw the two queen size bed rooms next door and they were very roomy.
Pros: Location, location, location. Great customer service, amazing fireside lounge, and restaurant attached.
This family-friendly Lake Placid hotel is located on a lake, within a 15-minute walk of St. Eustace Episcopal Church, Lake Placid Winter Olympic Museum, and Lake Placid Center for the Arts. Olympic Center and Jackrabbit Trail are also within 15 minutes.
Pros: Friendly, helpful staff. Lobby décor and view is amazing...a great place to sit and relax in front of the fire. If you got takeout or snacks, you could easily grab a table (there are several) and eat while looking out at the lake and grabbing drinks from the bar. Ideal for a couple or a family with young kids looking for a low-key alternative to a stuffy hotel.
Pros: Lovely for a night. Seemed like a great location for a longer stay. Very low key.
Pros: In easy walking distance to downtown.
Staff was responsive to issue with getting into room after i put my key card near a magnet and wiped it out.
Beds are very comfortable and it had a nice view of Mirror Lake.
Cons: Took 20 minutes to get checked in at 9PM at night when only clerk went into excruciating detail with someone who might do a canoe trip the next day.
They needed to check us in quickly and then return to customer who was casually figuring out their next day's plans.
Pros: Loved the view, the lake front, the staff, access to restaurants/shopping, proximity to great hiking. AJ, Adam and Vinny stood out for exceptional customer service.
Cons: Some places were short staffed as summer help hadn't come in yet, but we weren't in any hurry so it didn't bother us.
Pros: Very friendly staff, clean rooms, comfortable beds and down comforter with a balcony overlooking the lake.
Pros: The rooms were very clean. The beds slept well and the view was wonderful. Very friendly staff. Would definitely stay again.
Cons: Wish they had an elevator. :(
Pros: The room was very clean and we had a great view of Mirror Lake. The location was excellent. We will definitely stay here again the next time we are in Lake Placid!
Pros: Right from the start we were so pleasantly surprised by the friendliness of the staff, Johnny High Peaks and Eli. So helpful and welcoming! Thanks, guys! We thought our room was beautiful and very clean!
Cons: One and only little complaint.,....there was no complimentary coffee ready in the morning. :(
Pros: Staff was very friendly and accommodating. The hotel was extremely clean and my room was updated. Location is fantastic and highly recommend this place.
Cons: I do not have anything negative to say about their facilities..
Pros: Clean, spacious and a beautiful view.
Pros: Loved the decor, location and amenities.
Lake House features a free ski shuttle and puts you within a 10-minute drive of Lake Placid. You can take a dip in the indoor pool, then visit the spa to be pampered with deep-tissue massages, body wraps, or aromatherapy. A bar/lounge and a spa tub are other highlights, and rooms offer patios and flat-screen TVs. Skiers will appreciate access to ski passes.
Pros: We liked almost everything about this place.
From the moment you walk in, you're greeted by very friendly staff who are all extremely welcoming and helpful. The hotel has amazing views and has a great lodge vibe.
The pool and hot tub area is great.
Beds are very comfortable.
Very pet and family friendly. So nice to be able to travel with the whole family!
Cons: The breakfast buffet was a bit disappointing.. it was a nice setting - but the food and options were lackluster.
The location is awesome.. however, after a night of eating and drinking in town, it can be rough to walk (or in our case push a stroller) all the way up the hill to the hotel.
Pros: We liked the location. Close enough to walk into town and not have to drive but not so close that you heard all the hustle and bustle of town. The views are excellent. Rooms and amenities were very good.
Cons: Parking isn't really convenient, especially if you have quite a bit of things to bring to your room. The wifi connection didn't perform very well, may be an issue if you're there for business. The cost versus quality of food onsite was overpriced.
Pros: we had a very enjoyable stay. received a upgrade to our room at check in which was very nice. a busy weekend with lots of hockey and families all having fun. and snow for a change!
Pros: Except for the steep climb up to the entrance, this is great hotel.
Pros: We loved the great room and the view. We did not avail ourselves of the pool, or restaurants so cannot comment. The location in town is great but beware the hill! It is walking distance to town but you have to account for the hill.
Cons: We stayed two nights and the room was not cleaned! I have never had that happen before! We stayed in a very basic room which was above some kind of steam vent. Walking up the hill can be tough at the end of the day but I kind of enjoyed the challenge. It was a little icy since we had a lot of rain instead of snow.
Pros: Great staff. Liked Great root.

Pros: The staff was very friendly and helpful. The beds were comfortable. The pool was great. The hotel is nicely decorated.
Cons: It was impossible to adjust the temperature in the room. The firepit wasn't working. The cafe's food is too expensive.
Pros: Room was big, staff was pleasant and accommodating.
Cons: Food was expensive, pool was very small, one out of two hot tubs was out of order for the three days we stayed.

Pros: the lake view room was no joke. great view of mirror lake, extremely comfortable suite.
Cons: As other reviewers mentioned, it's a little noisy. Walls are thin, and being right on Main Street - there is some noise from the bars and traffic on the street. They provide earplugs - hilarious - but unless you're a very light sleeper, the noise is minimal.
Pros: - great location, right on Main St.
- nice view (we could see the lake from the room we had)
- comfortable beds
Cons: - not very clean... Overall the room was just not very clean. A couple stains on the sheets. The rug had areas that looked like stuff was stuck to it. Piles of crumbs in multiple areas. There was hair in the sink and shower and they left a used towel hanging behind the bathroom door when we were first checked in I guess left there by the previous guest. Gross!!
-poor service... The front desk staff were fine. However, we left our room for the day at about 900 am and hung the door hanger to please make up our room. We came back at 230pm to a room that hadn't been touched. No new coffees or towels. Didn't empty the garbage, etc. When we left the maids were just down the hall.
- the packets left for the coffee with the sugar, creamer, etc had already been opened by the previous guest and not replaced.
- not that we has an issue, but i can ser how being on a lower floor could get loud with the restaurant/bar underneath the hotel
Pros: Big room. Comfortable bed.
Cons: Worst view you could ask for of boarded up windows of a half vacant building
Pros: Wonderful staff, clean hotel, stunning views, and situated in the middle of everything. We were able to leave the car and walk to a host of stores, restaurants, movie theater, views, history, etc.
Pros: The foam beds were much needed after a long 5 hrs of hike. The sheets were clean and the room quaint for a group of 7 in a two full bed room.
Pros: Staff is very friendly.
Cons: Insufficient parking for the number of rooms being rented. More than likely you'll need to park in the public lot... But it's close by.
Pros: Comfy bed, location.
Cons: Everything else.
Cons: The beds were as had as rocks and I had no heat the whole first night. It was miserable!!!
Pros: We really liked the value and location of the hotel. The mattresses are very comfortable!
Cons: Our room (lake view king suite) didn't have a refrigerator - which prevented us from bringing home any leftovers from the delicious dining that Lake Placid has to offer.
Pros: Was chosen because of cheap price but I would never stay again. It wasnt even worth it for cheaper price.
Cons: Staff was unprofessional and rude. When arriving late at 2am they were in the back counting money chatting and came out for a minute and went back talking and laughing while myself and 3 others waited for service. She had no information about parking. said she was only around at night and didnt know anything about day time. Wouldnt let us know about late check out. said we had to call desk after 7am to find out. Parking lot was dangerous and over full so we had to go down the road to park and pay in the morning. Hotel was not clean and very old broken down looking.
Pros: Nice place, well worth the money. Can use updating but than again it has the rustic look that Lake Placid is known for
Cons: Lack of Parking

Pros: The place is very clean and very homey, the woman running it was wonderful. I will definitely go back again.
Pros: We had three hikers in our group, and they set us up in a room with a pair of bunk beds in addition to the queen size bed, which we didn't expect and was great.
Staff was very nice. We had a camping trip planned and they allowed us to leave one vehicle with them for the two nights, which was extremely generous of them.
We didn't get to stay for the breakfast so I can't comment on that.
Pros: This is a very friendly place. It has that at home feel. We enjoyed conversing with others at the continental breakfast yet had our privacy when desired. The fresh home made bread at breakfast was scrumptious.
Cons: The room was small but still comfortable.
Located within a 15-minute drive of Lake Placid, Spruce Lodge Bed & Breakfast & Guest Cottage puts you near winter activities like downhill skiing, snowboarding, and cross-country skiing. Free perks like breakfast and self parking mean guests have more money for fun in the snow. Ski storage is also available.
Pros: Location is key, food is good but the lady that attends to the station is cranky.
Cons: The manager was extremely rude, we were a family of 7 and it was memorial day weekend. We were enjoying the outdoor seating area and he yelled at me like a dog, 'quiet down'. Didnt speak to my husband about it, instead yelled at me like a child.
Pros: The staff was super accommodating and very friendly!
Pros: Excellent location in the village. Bed was very comfortable providing a good night's sleep. Motel was a good choice for the price.
Cons: Bedroom was 'dark'. The ceiling needs to be a lighter color and ceiling lights installed. The breakfast was adequate, however, more variety needs to be made available. TV in the room was small. Parking was somewhat limited.
Cons: Outside doors to halls were not locked at night. Bath should have grab bar by tub and a bath mat.
Pros: Good rooms for a reasonable date. The breakfast room is amazing and the good excellent.
Cons: No, perhaps one minor issue: there was a stoppage in the showen room.
Pros: What impressed me about this hotel was from the very start the entire staff was always very friendly and respectful through the entire stay :)Room was clean but a little outdated which is fine for the most part. Very convenient to convention ctr across st
Cons: Hotel overall is a nice gem for the Adirondack area, however it is apparent that some upkeep is well in order around the grounds especially. Parking can be tricky as well.
They overbooked, leaving us with no room. They did not bother to call to let us know. Their excuse was we were hoping for a cancellation. We were directed to another hotel that was less than satisfactory. when I spoke to the manager Olga, her attitude was bad, poor customer service, and offered no fix or solution to the problem.
Pros: Don't know, they had no room for us even though we had confirmation of a room with 2 queen beds and Cathedral ceilings. Apparently they over booked.
Cons: Customer service.
Pros: Overall Impression was a 10! The staff was very nice, and went out of their way to make you feel welcome. Hotel Employee was our sweet breakfast attendant and went above and beyond to make us feel at home! The location was perfect in the middle
Cons: The only simple negative was the shower curtain- it was fabric without a liner, and the water leaked all over the floor- so it was difficult to keep the floor dry- we had 4 people staying in a 2 queen sized room- so the towels were very much used!
Pros: The location was perfect. Everything was within walking distance. The free breakfast was good and was served in a lovely room overlooking the ice rink and main street. Everything was very clean including the pool and hot tub.
Cons: There was a slight musty smell in the lobby area but not in our room, thank goodness.

Cons: No elevator
No breakfast available on site
Pros: Owners efforts to create "lodge" environment - friendly and helpful during our stay!
Cons: Noisy - floor above room we were in
Pros: Nice old hotel. Rooms are small but cozy. Some facilities need updating. Staff was very friendly and helpful. On premise restaurant was great. Overall a nice place to stay, a good value for Lake Placid, which can tend to be pricey especially in season.
Pros: Family owned quaint inn. Clean and neat that's close to Main Street .
Cons: No mini fridge or microwave, so if you have special dietary needs you may want to consider.
Pros: Staff could not have been more accommodating.
Jill and Frank are keeping alive a piece of history and Classic elegance
Reminds you of staying at Grandma's House
Pros: The Pines Inn is a cozy place to stay! It's right around the bend on the top of the hill on Main Street, so you're never too far away from the restaurants/bars/gift shops. The staff is friendly and we had no trouble getting to our room. Overall, a good place to stay!
Cons: As triathletes, we would have loved a mini fridge in our room. But other than that, no complaints!
At The Pines Inn Lake Placid, you'll be within a 10-minute drive of Lake Placid. Guests can grab a bite to eat at the restaurant and visit the fitness center for a workout.
Pros: Activities such as swimming, boating, grilling ect included. Great value, close to trolley stop for downtown, close to food options, super friendly staff
Cons: Walls are thin and you can hear the neighbors, breakfast was included but really not that great, stairs everywhere, so not mobility friendly
Pros: I have a 5 yr and 5 month old child; we had a blast on just an overnight stay! The pool and jacuzzi were awesome, we loved our rooms location and the little patio overlooking the mountains! Fridge and microwave in room were helpful and the breakfast was the best continental breakfast I've had! Our stay was excellent and my son will be talking about it for weeks to come!
Cons: Getting our stuff in and out of the entrance near our room was difficult for me being a single mother. There was no ramp and doors were no stroller friendly.

Cons: To be honest it's 3 star hotel - NO more then that.
Pros: this hotel had all lakefront views. It was walkable and convenient to most restaurants and attractions in Lake Placid village.
Cons: The indoor pool/hot tub area needs a lot of updates. the concrete deck does not have enough drainage so it was all wet with puddles. It needs a good scrubbing, as well as the tiles/grout in the hot tub. They did not offer any breakfast.
Pros: Very accommodating, friendly staff. Beautiful location. Wonderful amenities.
Pros: The view
Cons: It was a little dated
Pros: It had heat and running water.
Cons: Someone lied about the hotel star rating. This is not a 3 star hotel.
Very clean and comfortable. My husband loved the bed pillows.

Cons: lack of adequate parking, more than likely due to large snow storm earlier in the week.
Pros: Friendly staff and wuick checkin

Pros: I go to lake placid to hike and for the restaurants. So a bed need be no more than a bed. In this respect, Thd Summit is perfect. Great location, very affordable, perfectly adequate. I will stay there over and over again.
Cons: The 'breakfast' and 'beachfront' are nonexistent.
Pros: The staff was friendly. When we asked to cancel they asked why but did not give us a hard time. They did apologize for the inconvenience.
Cons: When we went to check in the room was not ready (which was okay since we were an hour early). We asked if we could use the pool while we waited and they said yes. When we got to the pool area we found out all the pictures lied. The hot tub was gone and the room for the pool was cold. When we felt the pool water it was like ice. Not only was the water like ice it appeared to be cloudy and dirty. At this point my 3 yeare old was in tears because he expected to go swimming and we said he could not get in. We then went back to the office and asked to cancel our reservation. We went to another hotel in town and stayed there.
Pros: The location was nice. Easily accessible to everything in town.
The staff was decent - not overly friendly, but helpful when we needed it.
Cons: Everything in the hotel was very dated. If the elevator had stopped working while we were in it, I wouldn't have been surprised. You could tell the carpet and paint hadn't been updated in a long time, however they say online they are in the process of renovating.
We asked for extra pillows one night and they brought us pillows, but no pillowcases. We had to ask to get those too.
The shower would go from hot to cold to hot to cold several times for no apparent reason.
The breakfast consisted of poptarts and honey buns. This could have definitely been improved, although I don't think they advertise having a breakfast at all, so this was still better than nothing.
Pros: The queen room was a bit on the small side. The microwave and coffemaker (and small fridge below) consumed much of the desk, making it otherwise unusable.
The hotel only provides some pre-packaged pastries and coffee, rather than a real continental breakfast (which is more expected now from even inexpensive chain hotels, much less a "resort" hotel). Rooms and furnishings were dated and worn. The hotel lounge was uncomfortable.
Staff were friendly and helpful.
Hot water temperature was abnormally hot - scalding actually. Surprised if this even meets building code.
The hotel is very convenient to the downtown commercial strip.
I've got a number of itchy bites - did not see evidence of bedbugs - could have been the tiny black flies atop Cascade Mountain (just not sure...)
Cons: My wife was gathering her clothes and found someone else's dirty underwear and shirt under the bed. She was also bitten numerous times by something during the night.
Pros: The hotel is very nice, clean, quiet in a great location within walking distance of the shops in Lake Placid.
Cons: The decor is a little dated, as are the rooms.
Pros: The rooms were a good size. Everything is in walking distance in the village.
Cons: rooms in desperate need of updating. Bathroom so small that you have to turn sideways to close door, a large person would have great difficulties. Sink is in the room itself so no privacy in brushing teeth or quick wash. The bar entrance is straight across from elevator so children have clear view of the bar and some patrons. Although I accompanied my girls, the bars location makes it impossible for teens to go to pool without being goggled at by patrons with drinks in their hands. Its just not family oriented.
