Pros: Facilities and rooms were simple, as you would expect from a hostel, but all the basics were there and everything was very clean. Staff was extremely helpful and patient with my cluelessness, as it was my first time traveling in Taiwan alone. They even gave me very detailed instructions on how to get to Taipei without me asking. I would go as far as to say the service was even better than what I've gotten at a five-star hotel, due to the very personal touch from the staff, who treated me like they genuinely cared about me as a person, not a client.
Cons: Being super nitpicky here, but there weren't any towels to wipe my hands off with in the bathroom, so I had to wipe my hands on my clothes. They had some tissues in there, but those aren't suitable for wiping wet hands, as they're very thin and break apart easily. That being said, it wasn't a big deal and I would definitely stay again.

Pros: The hotel is huge! We stayed in a luxury room. It was so big, and had everything we needed. Plus, a free wake up call and a free shuttle ride to the airport. The staff were very polite.

Pros: Great bed. Good location. Excellent pool / gym facility. The room was OK, clean enough, but nothing special. I would stay here again. Can't beat the convenience, in spite of some of the issues mentioned below.
Cons: One worker at "Box" restaurant "Mr. Jo" was a lifeless robot who could never smile. His colleagues were fantastic and made up for it. The bar is terrible. Audio / acoustics are bad, too much echo, and tiny low-fidelity speakers. Dated decor. Our corridor on floor 7 smelled like a rat. The "magic" window in the bathroom (presumably supposed to turn opaque with a switch" was broken. way to get to the airport. No bathrobe in room, had to ask for it (is this a "green" decision?).

Pros: I stayed here after 3 flights starting in Utah. It was my first time in Taipei. I was so exhausted I could barely think straight. The cab from the airport to the hotel was very fast and cheap. I got in very late and the staff checked me in quickly (I had booked my room online). The room was massive. I got a "superior" room with a king size bed. There are water coolers (with a hot water spout) on each floor. There was a fridge in my room. The shower head was massive and had great pressure, there was a deep bathtub too but I didn't use it. The buffet for breakfast was a great intro to Taiwanese food! It was delicious and lots of variety. The room was easily temperature controlled with A/C or heat.

Pros: Close proximity to the airport and the staff were used to people staying there for layovers so they were very helpful.
Cons: There was no restaurant. They had only a buffet with probably some of the worst food I've eaten in a while and Taiwanese food is usually pretty good. The entire place was run down and had a faint odor of cigarettes. There was no bar in the hotel or hotel store to purchase amenities. Wifi was exceedingly slow even for a hotel.

Pros: City Suites Gateway is very close to the international airport (TPE), less than 10 minutes for a taxi ride to the entrance of the hotel. The room I had was great: spacious and clean with a big comfortable bed. The bathroom was big, with a powerful shower head to wash away the tiredness of your body. It's a place where you can be completely relaxed and enjoy your stay. My reservation comes with a free buffet-style breakfast. The choices were great, including Chinese & Western style of food.
Cons: I have no complaints about this hotel.
