Christina welcomed me like I was family. She speaks English, Spanish & Portuguese and helped with anything I could possibly need. She has created a lovely pousada & restaurant and it was an absolute pleasure spending three nights there. I wish I could have stayed longer. The pousada is in Gamboa (not Morro). It is very chilled there and the food in the restaurant was deeeelicious! The caipirinhas are AMAZING and so strong. You'll need to lie down after two. You can walk to Morro in low tide and it takes 20 mins. Gamboa is very quiet after sunset so you'll need to get a boat to Morro for nightlife. It was very safe to go out at night and I am a single female. Stay here you will not regret it. Thank you Christina for a wonderful stay
The toilet in the shared bathroom was very temperamental. The room I stayed in needs a mosquito net over the bed.
The most important thing is that the place is a paradise. You have a beach with calm and tepid waters, extraordinary scenery, not crowded, and the property (though not the bungalow itself) is right on the beach. The owner, Cristina, is extraordinarily sympathetic and helpful, and this compensated several problems that could have had an important impact in our stay. It was a pleasure to chat with her during breakfast or elsewhere in the day. She even went to pick us up at the port! During our stay we explored other beaches in the island. The so-called first and second beach are crowded, which was what we were escaping from. The third beach may be similar to this one. The fourth is also quiet and the water is more transparent than this one, though it is all covered with corals, so it might not be so comfortable for a long stay. Instead, it is ideal for snorkelling, to see the many different and colorful fishes. Overall, I think the beach of this hotel was the best tradeoff. We rented the bungalow. It was beautiful, well decorated, with good A/C (essential!), with 2 spacious rooms plus a large living + eating room. The daily cleaning was excellent, and toiletries were replaced every day. They included free breakfast in our stay, which I'm not sure was supposed to be that way or they did it because the bungalow lacked cooking facilities (though they were advertised). For us this was a good deal because there is not much to cook anyway in the area and the breakfast was fantastic (considering the small size of the property --- just 1 bungalow and 8 rooms). For example, it includes a different cake every day, usually excellent, and this makes it less repetitive. You can also ask for more of whatever you want. Overall you have bread, several cakes, ham, cheese, eggs, several fruits (excellent), two juices (which I didn't like, what about orange or something better known?), coffee, milk, chocolate, yoghurt sometimes... and you can make hot sandwiches.
Some things can improve easily, while others are more structural and you have to take it as part of the experience. I recommend to read the positive points first and then take what follows as a second-thought, which does not affect significantly the overall experience. I'm extra detailed because I think the owners can fix a good deal of these problems with little effort/investment. Things that can be easily improved are being more careful when expecting the passengers. For example, the owner had not checked the router when we arrived and it took several days to fix it. The cable TV had been cut for lack of payment (we didn't complain as it was irrelevant for us, but it should not happen). It is also important that the description in Booking matches what the property actually has (for example, there was no coffee machine, and the microwave took several days to be repaired): even if not too important for us, it may be for other passengers. Something important that shocked us in the beginning was the total lack of cooking furniture: not a fork, a spoon, a knife, a dish... anything. So not only no support for cooking, but even to buy a pizza and eat in the bungalow (which should be independent). We were allowed to take whatever tools we needed from the kitchen, but it is very easy to leave a minimum kitchenware, the microwave and/or a small burner stove, and passengers will be happier. It would also be nice to have an outdoor light in the terrace, so it can be used in the night. All these comments are meant to be useful for the owners and are unlikely to be a problem in the next stay (but you might want to ask/remind if something is important for you). A more structural issue is that the bungalow itself is not directly on the beach, as one may think from the description.
Very nice location and perfect stuff thanks Christina
