5.8 Okay
Pros: Staffs are well behaved
Cons: They don't have any restaurant and we booked a room with extra price...it was supposed to be pool facing but they gave a room which is not pool facing.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff, always ready to help. The rooms are big and fully equipped.
Cons: The repair works in the cafe nearby disturbed a bit.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Great , they renovated the Beach Restaurant just in time for my arrival, LOL; It used to be called Coconut Grove and Jermaine is still the best!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed in one of the cottage with my daughter and boyfriend. We loved being able to walk out of our cottage and barefoot to the beach.....location...location..location. We traveled around the island a bit in search of other beaches, but we loved our beach. Dickinson's Bay... beautiful calm from sunrise to the magnificent sunsets each evening outside our door. Thank you for a relaxing stay. NYC
Cons: The music from the coconut grove restaurant became a bit annoying. It started some mornings at 7:00 am until 10.00 pm. They could face the huge speaker away from the cottages and to the other side.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Excellent accomodation and location. Well kept in nice garden, next to the beach. Very friendly staff, early check-in no problem. Quiet location (off season).
Cons: Beach area belonging to Buccaneer beach a bit small, but left and right on beach a lot of alternative locations.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This place was wonderful. The staff were super nice, a feeling of comfort and friendliness is all around, you get to know the staff also which just feels homey and comfortable. They did everything to make sure I had a good stay, even answered all kinds of stupid questions I had (I was travelling alone, sometimes it's possible that I just wanted to talk). To me, this was a better place to be than in an all incl. resort. Also, as someone mentioned here in the reviews, the rooms look SO much better than they do on the pictures, very well kept and super clean everywhere! The beach front was cozy. There are some restaurants/bars around, but also a huge supermarket not so far from it. I think a taxi was around 12 USD to go to it and shop, but a walk is also not bad at all. Takes around 20-30 minutes each way. St John's is also not far, not sure how much a taxi takes, but I took a local bus for 3 EC and was great (You just have to wait for the bus and get lucky). Highly recommend this place.
Cons: Right now there is construction work right next to it, it's not so bad with the noise, and it should be done very soon. This is not a minus, just a note :)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful quaint place, the staff from the maid to the manager were the friendliest, most helpful staff of anywhere we’ve ever stayed.
Cons: That the restaurant next door was being torn down and loud construction. It will be great as soon as they rebuild the restaurant, no restaurants nearby, you have to taxi everywhere unless you have a car.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff are lovely especially Oscar and receptionists. Lovely gardens with orchids grafted into palm trees. Humming birds. Effective air conditioning and spacious clean cottage/room. Beach beds. Free ice. The whole place is quiet and peaceful.
Cons: The building works next door. Lack of eating places in close walking distance.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice and comfortable- I will return.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely spacious accommodation set in beautifully kept gardens. Right on the beach with plenty of loungers. A perfect spot for viewing the sunset each evening! Great pool and a BBQ area that you could reserve. Staff were very helpful and went out off their way to make our stay more enjoyable- the guy looking after the beach loungers even returning my camera to me when I left it on the beach!
Cons: It was all perfect!

7.0 Good
Pros: Wonderful location
Cons: Dining room buffet with birds allowed to peck on the food.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a (Brit) family owned resort and they are very hands on - Director flies out very regularly to check everything is just right. The results show, and by good comparison with the big corporate chain resorts.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff could not be more friendly or helpful! Fabulous place and incredibly well run
Cons: Nothing
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very beautiful garden ,nice views, Tranquility with style. Also it’s still a high class family hotel! A lot of upper class hotels in Antigua are boring “adults only” hotels in the meanwhile . So,even when i‘m alone travelling ,I would prefer such a normal nice atmosphere. Breakfast was very good!
Cons: At the front desk ,Alicia was incompetent and unfriendly. When I asked for a room ,she told me ,the hotel is full. I used wifi from the hotel to book than my room there via booking com... Afterwards she let me obviously waiting a long time until I got the room. When I asked her if there is a welcome drink offer ,like usually everywhere in Antigua ,she told me „off course“ But she didn’t do anything, that i get something to drink... Kind of rude!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Rooms were outstanding. Cleanliness was top notch. My daughter and I do not drink, so were on the bed/breakfast plan which does not allow for lighter less expensive dining. I would suggest a revamp of the menu and more availability of less expensive lighter food with more of American options.
Cons: Menu and cost of food if you are not on all inclusive.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved the location, the staff and the ambiance. Absolutely perfect size. Staff friendly and professional beyond bounds. Commend staff members Bella, Derah, TJ and Tario John the head gardiner was wonderful
Cons: Suggestion for the future ... avoid using so many plastic water bottles. Supply visitors with a recyclable water bottle that is branded and have water coolers around to fill up during the day
4.3 Okay
Cons: Cove Restaurant Food was bland and tasteless for this level of establishment
10.0 Excellent
Pros: They are very kind and helpful
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Meals were great!!! Especially the grilled eggplant!!!! Beds were great also !!!
Cons: I didn’t like that we were ONLY there 8 DAYS!!!!

6.8 Good
Pros: convenience,
Cons: The Villa had workers doing work on the property every day for the entire week except wednesday. Even though the work was exterior work, the hammering/ painting and the work men being in a space that was supposed to be quiet and peaceful. No paying customer should have to endure this anywhere.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had a one bedroom Villa, Very nice! Over looked the pool and a great view of the ocean. The property was beautiful, the beach was clean and the water a beautiful blue, close to the floating bar, water activities and places to eat and a grocery store. The kitchen had everything I needed for cooking and we cooked in room a lot. Even a blender for my Pina Colada’s. The gas ran out for the stove one night. We reported it to the office and it was immediately replaced. Housekeeping was very accommodating.

7.5 Good
Pros: The staff was very friendly and courteous.
Cons: It was confusing to find the reception office because of the construction going on. It was like a maze so they should try to make the grounds more appealing for their guests. Pros: Close proximity to the beach. Very nice updated rooms, friendly staff.

9.3 Excellent
Pros: great hotel, located on the hill over looking Dickenson Bay, great views, and away from the hustle of the beach. staff were very friendly and attentive, the reception team let us leave our suitcases at the hotel two days prior to us checking in, which meant that we didn't have to carry them over to Montserrat. Food at the Restaurant was excellent, with a wide verity of options for breakfast, lunch and evening meal. The restaurant also attracted local dinners, which is alway a good sign. the hotel offers a free shuttle service to the beach and back, which is great for getting back up the hill. The hotel is also used by the BA cabin crew again another good sign.
Cons: nothing to not like, we feel we received good value for what we paid.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, laid back staff but very helpful. Food and outside bar area, beaches, trips. Eco approach to be commended. Great gardens.
Cons: Rooms are comfortable but very dated and in places, tired. Shower was very tricky to set temperature. The white and rose wine was poor. Even with inclusive we’d have expected better quality. On a few occasions at breakfast the service was poor; took a long time to order a coffee. This seemed to depend on a couple of staff who were not attentive.

Cons: Nothing
7.5 Good
Pros: We loved the staff, the entertainment, the swimming pools and the beach was outstanding. The grounds were also well kept and beautiful.
Cons: The room we stayed in was very small, not very modern. The bathroom door was a struggle. It would have been nice to have the facilities of a fridge and a kettle together with tea / coffee / water provided in the rooms. The A/C was also temperamental.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: I love the pool restaurants lime in the night beach environment
Cons: Restaurants
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Love the beach, pool and activities.
Cons: Super savers room is more for one person not two.
4.6 Okay
Pros: BEACH AND GROUNDS WERE NICE
Cons: DIRTY,CONFUSED STAFF,PROPERTY IN POOR CONDITION IN NEED OF COMPLETE RESTORATION
7.5 Good
Pros: Staff were very friendly and managed all my enquiries. I travelled alone, but met with a larger group of family and friends as we all attended a wedding during my time in Antigua. Unfortunately one of the ladies I met slipped and fell, badly hurting herself during an evening of heavy rain fall. This involved emergency hospital treatment and meant the last three nights of my stay was changed from being a tourist to becoming a nurse's aide. The hotel helped and although there was a lot of delay to begin with, eventually the hotel worked with us to move things on positively.
Cons: I did not like the fact that the meals were more continental. as a visitor I came to Antigua to eat authentic local food, but this was not readily available in the hotel.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: I like the pool beach the people bringing drinks by the pool
Cons: The aircoditioning wasnt working in the room it heated
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The product was excellent, the staff was friendly and helpful. Can’t get better value for money.
Cons: The facilities need a little upgrade but you couldn’t ask for a friendlier environment
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location is great, staff excellent very friendly
Cons: Hotel can do with a make over bring the fixtures and fittings up to date
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: The beach and location
Cons: Very poor standard of accommodation. Needs major modernisation to bring up to decent standard. The main buffet was small, overcrowded and limited. Room was small, depressing and outdated. Even charging devices was challenging. Air conditioning completely ineffective even when I could get it working. Lots of noise 24-7 from outdoor air conditioning plant. Anything not included was very expensive e.g security def. Lots of people bothering you on the beach, some rude. Some staff were great but some appeared disinterested. One day I had to wait at the beach bar for 15 minutes for the server to wake up, despite me trying to get her attention, she was literally asleep at the bar! Won’t post the photo I have of this as I wouldn’t want them to get into trouble but come on! Also, a friend heard same staff member moaning about the number of drinks ordered by some in spite of it being “all inclusive”. Not for me.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The staff was friendly and very welcoming, lots of entertainment and activities that made our stay memorable
Cons: We had to ask for a change of room due to air conditioning issues

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff was friendly... location was super convenient to the beaches, supermarket... I loved the pool! It was quiet, & very relaxing... I also loved it had a restaurant on site & a bar....
Cons: I did not like it was listed as a b&b online, but when I got there you had to pay for breakfast... I also did not like the lighting in the room too dull especially while doing my makeup...the bed I got was a king, which was actually two full bed that kept separating from each other.. the sliding door to terrace were unable to lock... which raised a concern for me especially when they say they are not responsible for your missing items it they should go missing... & the room came with a safe but they wanted you to pay additional $$$ to use it...
3.3 Mediocre

4.5 Okay

Cons: Food service
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was friendly and quick to address any issues. The location is prefect (quick drive to the beach and close to “town” main shopping area in St. John’s).
Cons: The kitchenette dish drain/stove and bathroom tub could have been cleaner. Had to switch rooms but that’s not entirely a complaint as that was the best solution.
7.5 Good
Pros: Th Staff was friendly. It was a good experience
Cons: Friendly staff
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Friendly, helpful staff. I saw comments that the accommodation was dated. I didn’t expect designer at the cheap price. The painting/decorating of the stairwells was being finished off when we stayed the night between flights. It was better than I was expecting, I would stay again. Supermarket 5-10 minutes walk, beach 20 minutes walk. The room had air conditioning, WiFi, Fridge freezer, oven, microwave and TV.
Cons: Unfortunately the pool looked like it was ready for an annual clean so we didn’t use it. It wasn’t a problem we went to Dickenson bay instead .

7.0 Good
Pros: location was good for my purposes and liked the fact that it included breakfast for the money it was good
6.8 Good
Pros: An upgrade of facilities is it required. Staff were nice and location was too.
Cons: Wifi was bad.
6.8 Good
Pros: Staff was very friendly and helpful. Bed was comfortable, internet and cable worked well. For doing business in the capital it is perfect and in the middle of everything. Close to restaurants, bars, banks, shopping and the cruise ship dock. Very safe to walk around. Room is nice and spacious and mini fridge/coffee maker both worked well. AC worked well and cooled the room without a problem. This hotel works best for business travelers on short stays or leisure travelers in transit.
Cons: Rooms are dated and need to be deep cleaned. The hotel when you walk into the entrance smells like a bathroom. I suggest to the owners since you are really the only hotel in St. Johns, pump some money into it and fix it up. The property has alot of potential. Deep Clean place and fix up the restaurant very off putting. Balcony door could not open. I worked in hotels for over 10 years and I am not fussy but this place needs a serious face lift. My room door did not lock properly, with force someone could open it.
7.0 Good
Pros: the location is great. the view overlooking the harbour, from the dining room is awesome.
Cons: the elevator needs to be replaced. the bathrooms need to be upgraded.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: I had an important Skype interview while I was there, and they provided me a WiFi booster and a LAN cable. The normal WiFi was fine for normal web surfing and even streaming videos or whatever - but with this important Skype I was pleased to have the booster. Not only that - but the lady at the front desk asked the next morning! It was a little act of kindness and compassion that exemplifies the overall quality of the stay.
Cons: Honestly, this hotel is pretty great. Nothing to list here. Its outdated for sure, but they keep it clean and fixed up. The location in downtown is convenient for business - but pretty far from a beach.
6.3 Good
Pros: Location was really good. Hotel was located in the city centre which made it quite accessible to any amenities you needed and more.
Cons: As it was a Sunday shops and restaurants were closed therefore there were very few places to choose from when it came to dining.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Room was really big with fridge , plenty of cupboards and storage, coffee making facilities, and huge comfy bed , balcony, everything we could have wanted and more x staff were excellent.

Overview Reviews
Nestled on the beach, this Dickenson Bay property is just steps from Leeward Islands and Dickenson Bay Beach. Runaway Bay Beach and Marble Hill are also within 2 mi (3 km).
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: Only the view.
Cons: Staffs are rude. Dining staffs are so rude. Rooms are dirty. Cheap service and not worth. AirCon in the room doesn’t work. I stayed in room no.304.
4.5 Okay
Pros: The Staff are the only good thing about the Halcyon Cove, the complex is well past its sell buy date. It needs gutting, the food was basic but there was a lot of standing in line and the restaurant overlooked a car park not what you expect in the Caribean. I would not return ever and we left one day early to come home as we just didn't enjoy the complex along with cheap basic food and cheap All inclusive beverages.
Cons: Didn't like the old style bedroom and bathrooms the whole decoration of the Complex was in need of an urgent update very disapointed as we chose this complex to use Hobie Cat sailing vessel as advertised this was not in operation. This is not a 3 Star Hotel sadly the price we paid through booking.com was far too much to ask for this property. I did not feel like I was on a Caribean Holiday as the whole place was such a low standard.
7.0 Good
Pros: Beach
Cons: Whole resort dated . This resort had been recently taken over ,a major facelift and renovation due at the end of this season . For guests who have or are due to stay here have been/ will be disappointed with the resort complex standard of fixtures and fittings. Due to this I feel I have overpaid for this trip . The brochure looks fantastic but what you actually get is a dated and run down resort . Hopefully starfish will address this ?
7.5 Good
Pros: A modern room
Cons: The power sockets The room not having an iron or ironing board No washcloths unless asked for Better TV and internet service
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Even though the room were clean we had trouble with the curtains it had come off the track. One of the bed side table lamps did not work. Overall satisfactory.
Cons: The staff were very polite the atmosphere was beautiful not too crowded. The beach clean and the facilities good also had retail therapy.
7.4 Good
Pros: Great Saff
Cons: Place needs some upgrades
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Clean, very safe with good meals & drinks available on site all day. Property on pristine beach with water sports, Staff is awesome! They go above & beyond to accommodate requests.
Cons: Room could use updated furniture.
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: Location to the beach, staff do their best under what is obviously difficult circumstance. I'd like to say something positive but that's the best I can think of.
Cons: The property is in need of major refurbishment, a lick of paint is not the answer. Rumour says that the property had been threatened with closure due to lack of maintenance. When at the airport for our return flight we were asked where we had stayed, my wife answered, the worst hotel on the island. The immediate response was, oh you stayed at the Halcyon Cove. Need I say more
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: The beach was the only beautiful part of this resort. Though there tended to be more seaweed in the water than any other beach, even with Sandals right next door
Cons: Although the resort was inexpensive, the value for the money was miserable. Unfriendly staff, sub-par food, and not much to do activity wise. I woke up in the middle of the night extremely thirsty but found that there was zero access to water anywhere on the resort. I, as well as many other guests I spoke with, will not be returning.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Bed and pillows in particular very comfortable
Cons: Locks on door needs updating door and locks jamming.
