9.2 Excellent
Pros: Really good breakfast. Location directly in front of the beach. Area where the pousada is located on the beach is more quiet. However, within 3-5 minutes walk you are directly at the center.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was amazing. Eggs, sausage, casseroles, fresh fruit, delicious breads, more than I expected. And the coffee was amazing. The hotel is located right on the beach, about a 6 min walk on the beach from the pier (you will have to cross a small water bay, ankle-deep water), or a 10 min walk through the cobbled streets which are beautiful too. During the walk to the hotel on the beach, it's very hard not to stop by the many tiki-torched bars on the beach. The area is VERY safe (not like Rio De Janeiro or its neighboring city, Angra dos Reis) and the locals are very friendly. Ilha Grande is a pictureque island town with good vibes and fun, cheap boat rides w/ unlimited capirinhas :)
Cons: Wish I could've stayed longer
8.8 Excellent
Pros: great breakfast, beach in front of the hotel
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Good value for money (when compared to places literally next door) Helpful staff
Cons: Breakfast isn't amazing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast and thought tea in the afternoon was a lovely touch especially after been out on trips/hikes all day
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved the location on the beach, the open and warm decor of the property, the cosy room with a sea view (simple, small but light, super comfortable with enough space and all mod cons), the breakfast and afternoon tea, and helpfulness of staff.
Cons: Although great to have wifi throughout the property, it would occasionally cut out so you'd have to logon every time you used it. First world problem!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Staff were lovely. Breakfast was good. View from room and balcony were amazing! Really nice to have the decking over the beach too!
Cons: Sand flies aren’t the hotels fault....the whole of Ilha Grande are covered in them but the room did not have AC instead a ceiling fan, so it did result in circulating hot air in 30 heat or opening the balcony door and getting eaten alive. Overall the hotel was great even if a little pricey.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Right on the beach. Afternoon teas.
Cons: Rooms small, showers poor, smelly toilets, dogs barking of an evening on the beach
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The staff was really helpful, the food both in the morning and the afternoon was great, and the afternoon tea time was greatly appreciated. Also after checkout they offered to hold our suitcases and allowed us to use a shower.
Cons: The water pressure was low and there was bad wifi in the bedroom
10.0 Excellent
Pros: So glad we booked Pousada Caicara, in fact on arrival we liked it so much we ended up adding two extra nights to our stay. A beautiful, clean guesthouse run by lovely staff who are there all day and night. Breakfast is a lovely bonus and being able to sit there almost right in the beach watching the world go by is heaven. Cannot recommend this place enough.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing breakfast, sleeping with light waterfall sound, nice varanda to the jungle, Juliana and João super kind. Tudo maravilhoso
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Hosts were extremely friendly and helpful. The location was great, close to the centre and beach but down a side street so was quiet and pretty location in jungle environment by a river. The breakfast was also very good, plentiful and omelette made to order.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The host is very kind. Even if we did not speak the same language, she made us feeling really confortable and helped in organizing our days in the island. The place is really cozy and nice. I fully recommend it!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything. We were late booking for our trip to IG and totally fluked into Pitanga. We felt good about it going there, but the place even exceeded our expectations. The staff was outstanding - friendly, accommodating and offering lots of good info. The place was clean. Lots of good places to sit outside, including the great little balcony that faces the trees and small creek. It was a two-minute walk from the action, which provided convenience but also quiet. Would 100% recommend it!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Julia is a great source of information and knows the best spots.
Cons: Room was small and there was no way to ventilate during the night (maybe place a net I front of the window). The rooms are noisy, especially the neighbors AC.
7.1 Good
Pros: Nice basic room. Pousada was about 5-10 minute walk from the port. There was a downstairs space so it allowed us to have more room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room is good, the breakfast is very good and the owner Juliana is very kind helping us a lot with tours and advices
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property is amenable to relaxing in peace, away from the village noise. Breakfast was excellent. The staff is friendly and helpful.
Cons: Nothing to dislike.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Well located. Around 5 to 10 minutes max from the village centre. Juliana is a wonderful host. She helped me finding activities and was very nice and caring. Also nice and soothing to hear the river at night.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: This was a beautiful, relaxing place to escape. The breakfast was delicious and Juliana was so lovely, welcoming and helpful. Rooms are comfortable. Definitely recommend.
Cons: The one thing I would change is that it would be nice if the windows had screens to keep out bugs. We borrowed a mosquito net to sleep under so that was helpful!
Pousada Ancoradouro - Vila do Abraao - Building
3
9.1 Excellent (258 reviews)
C$ 109+
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Pousada Ancoradouro in Ilha Grande, you'll be on the beach, just a 1-minute walk from Abraao Beach and 5 minutes by foot from Abraao Cove. The front desk is staffed during limited hours.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was really nice considering the price. Rooms are really clean, staff were especially nice and are highlight of our stay. When you arrive at dock in Ilha Grande and you have luggage you will have option to carry it by yourself or pay carrier who will use their carts. While carts are more comfortable option they are not cheap, as we were charged 40BRL for one way (return ticket by boat for Lopes Mendes is 30BRL). When we were returning to docks we decided to carry luggage by ourselves, you can use road through Villa do Abrao and then you have maybe 100meters to carry it on the beach. Ofcourse if it rains or road is muddy we recommend to use carts.
Cons: Beds in this facility have strange front legs, and we hit our knees legs multiple times while walking by the bed, probably an misfortune but watch out. Also problem in this facility is that its hard to seal the room of the mosquitos since windows are hard to completely close.
5.4 Okay
Pros: Talita, the chief of staff.
Cons: Two serious problems: 1. the bad smell (sewerage?!) in the ground floor rooms; 2. no mosquito nets or something else against the mosquitoes.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff and very clean rooms
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything !!! Super friendly and helpful staff ! The room was spacious, and super clean ! The bed was confortable and the AC super quiet ! Big plus : the shower :) The breakfast is very good, it is served early and for a long period
Cons: Nothing !!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is great - it’s quiet as you are outside of the centre but within a 5 minute walk along the beach or under 10 by the roads you are by all the restaurants and shops. The view from our room was magical. The breakfast is one of the best we have had since being in Brazil - they offer freshly scrambled eggs for you and you can have as many eggs as you would like! Staff are very friendly and helpful, sometimes there was a language barrier but nothing google translate couldn’t sort out!! Highly recommend this Pousada - if possible get an ocean view room and you will not be disappointed!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything, very nice staff, good breakfast, big room, amazing location in the beach but in a more quiet spot.
Cons: Nothing.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Extremely Clean and friendly staff.
Cons: Location is bit of a walk from port
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Pousada Ancoradouro is a great place to stay. The staff headed by Renata and Romulo are fun kind and will make anything they can to make your stay extraordinary. This is the fifth pousada I have stayed in at Ilha Grande and by far the best. Highy recommended.
7.5 Good
Pros: The front of house staff were friendly and helpful. We had an issue with mosquitos in our room when we arrived and the man on front of house went out of his way to help us resolve the issue. The hotel was quiet and we had a comfortable stay. The aircon was very good. The bedroom was an ok size with a decent fridge. Breakfast was OK, nothing special though.
Cons: Housekeeping kept leaving our doors open which let the bugs in...! It wasn't worth us having the sea view as you couldn't really see it from lower level and we had to have the windows shut a lot of the time due to mosquitos. There is a definite mould problem in the bathroom and there was always a musty smell. The bathrooms could do with some TLC!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Room was nice, clean and has had a nice sea view. Excellent breakfast and very friendly staff
Cons: Hotel could only been entered via beach which makes it a bit difficult if you have luggage. Chair for the balcony would have been good.

Pros: Location good and had character
Cons: The room was very small
7.5 Good
Pros: Staff of the pousada very helpful and nice. Great location 5 minutes walking from the beach, very nice breakfast.
7.9 Good
Pros: It's a beautiful and cozy place. Good beds and clean environment. Friendly staff.
Cons: Breakfast was OK but not good. Especially the juices aren't really sweet and almost undrinkable. And because of the lack of electricity there was no ac working. So it wasn't a good sleep during night. They have very often lack of electricity on the whole island. Normally you pay extra for ac and there is no refund. Even after power off my ac wasn't working anymore... The bathroom is very small.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Good breakfast. Staff is hospitable and friendly but doesn't speak English. Nice balcony and private yard. Room was clean.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: breakfast was really nice, the staff was always available to our request and the location is really good. The room is simple but really cozy and comfortable.
Cons: The shower flood and leak on the sides. This was a bit annoying but nothing that disturbed our stay there.
7.5 Good
Pros: Nice breakfast, very we special beautiful woody, designed place
Cons: Mosquito net are necessary !! we got many bites at night. Non of the stuff knew English and though they were nice we couldn’t get any help.

Cons: Staff speaks only portuges
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast.
Cons: Wifi signal very weak inside the room.
7.9 Good
Pros: Friendly staff, breakfast, other guests seemed nice
Cons: Room was bit damp and smelly, though this is common problem on the humid island. Noisy fridge

Cons: Bathroom a bit small.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was great about this hostal- breakfast was good, place was spotless, staff were friendly and really helpful (especially Wellington who gave us lots of advice), stable internet. Excellent establishment, one of the best hostels we have stayed in.
Cons: N/a
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The beds were very comfortable
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great modern new hostel with spacious rooms. They have lockers and also safety deposit boxes where one can fit even a laptop. Breakfast good. 3 mins to the center of the village.
Cons: They could provide more info on hiking trails of Ilha Grande. Proactivity missing, but so is the case with many places in Brazil - good enough, but never excellent. Some of the staff look sad and act very formal, but maybe they have their own reasons... Bathrooms are inside of the rooms and the doors have holes so sound travels. I would definitely stay again anyway.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was perfect, we had been travelling for more than 4 months and this was our best accommodation! Everything was clean, spotless rooms, beds and bathrooms, great breakfast and excellent staff.
Cons: Nothing at all, this is an excellent value for your money!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Really modern, clean and comfy. Great bathroom suite in each room. 2 sinks, separate loo, separate shower. The shower is amazing! Feels like a power shower on your back and plenty of hot water for all
Cons: The hostel is up a small but steep hill. Its still less than 10mins from the docks so don't be put off by this
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The hostel is always clean, the place is beautiful!
Cons: It is located on a street with a slope, a bit difficult to get there if you have a suitcase. The rest is just perfect!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Nice hostel in Ilha Grande
Cons: It’s up the hill so it’s harder to reach with big luggage. But you can hire a pulley near the port to bring your luggage.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Plain breakfast but okay. Very clean rooms and the hole place is very new and well kept.
Cons: It was hard to speak to the staff only one could speak English.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Almost everything!
Cons: the position of the booking´s map is wrong. need a longer and more difficult walk to reach it.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great hostel!! The staff is friendly, the rooms are clean and spacious, beds comfortable, it's all very modern. WiFi worked great from everywhere in the hostel, the garden is nice to hang out. I've enjoyed the breakfast. The vibe is chilled and nice, respectful, no party until 4am. You have to walk up a hill for about 5mins,it's ok. But better if you have a backpack and not suitcase. You're only 7mins walk from the centre! I would come back if I had the chance
Cons: I didn't like the door of the toilet - the bathroom is inside the dorm, and the toilet door has wooden slats, people can't see you but you can see people while you do your business and it feels really lacking of intimacy, sound and smell travels.... I didn't like that I had to wear a bracelet for my entire stay (but it's all hostels on the island). The bathroom is very modern but the glass has a hole so it leaks water on the floor - I discovered that you need to leave the door 20cm open for it not to leak ;-). No laundry service, but there is a laundry in the centre of the village who does it cheap and the same day.

When you a stay at Pousada Mar De Sonhos in Ilha Grande, you'll be near the beach, just steps from Ilha Grande State Park and Aracatibinha Beach.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: This is wonderful place, where you can get away from it all. You get a little house with a front porch and hammocks. From the hotel you can go to a little beach or take long walks in the woods. The area is very beautiful. We even saw some howler monkeys. We also enjoyed their cats and dogs. The owners are super friendly and helpful. The breakfast is very good. They even got gluten-free bread and cake for me. What a nice treat! We ate dinner there in the evening and I have to say Fabiana's cooking was some of the best food we ate during our whole vacation. She is really a great host and a great cook.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fabianas and Leonardos place is a real dream! The location and the view is absolutely beautiful and built with a lot of love! We had our own little house in the middle of their gorgeous garden with a lot of birds and plants you could just spend hours watching. Fabiana knows a lot about the fauna and flora of the island and is cultivating orchards in order to reastablish the natural forest environment. They are wonderful, caring hosts and we enjoyed very much our conversations and of course Fabianas delicious food! We took home a lot of that tranquility and beautiful memories! Thank you! Muchas gracias Fabiana, espero que nos vamos a ver de nuevo algún día! Obrigada Leonardo!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: we had a wonderful stay at the mar de sonhos! this place is absolutely gorgeous! we were looking for a remote pousada, in the nature, with no touristic fuss. and this is exactly what we got! we had our own chalet with a stunning view on the little bay. down some stairs there is the little beach which is quiet and very beautiful. you can watch the sunset while drinking a caipirinha with grilled fish from the little bar, after some scuba diving experience (there are some masks and flippers available in the chalet). we had a very warm welcoming by fabiana, leo and his brother! fabiana's cooking is excellent, we strongly recommend to take the dinner! we will never forget this place! thank you fabiana for every thing! and for helping us so much with the boats!
Cons: just know that this place is quite hard to reach from abraão. it is easily accessible from angra (on the continent). but from the island itself it's a bit tricky. from abraão you only have taxi boats (350-400 reais for the taxi). what we did was to take a tourist tour that took us to lagoa verde (100 reais/person). and disembark there (20 minutes walk to the pousada). if you're lucky like us, the sailor from the tourist boat will make a special detour and drive you to araçatiba for free. then you'll have to book another tourist tour if you want to get back to abraão. but anyway, fabiana is really really helpful and she will find a way for you to get there!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful and peaceful location, great breakfast, very comfortable bed, nicely appointed room, excellent hot shower. Fabiana, Leonardo and the staff are fantastic.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fabiana and Leonardo were wonderful welcoming hosts. We loved their home and it's location and their love for their surroundings. The snorkelling was great and we were lucky enough to see a turtle and a seahorse. We had a fabulous stay with them.

The location of the pousada is very quiet and only a few minutes from the city center / beach. Everything is kept very clean.

Pros: Great and very helpful staff! The birdsong in the morning was the best to wake up with :)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The feeling that we were at home, taken care by Nette who was outstanding in every way. When we make it back to the island we hope to see her again. All the best for casa Bonita! Special thanks to Josivaldo!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was great! A beautiful terrace surrounded by rainforest.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: About a five minute walk from the main drag in Abraao, so everything is quite peaceful and secluded. AC units work very well (quiet), and breakfast is great. Staff is very helpful.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We were the only guests there and it was very quiet. The staff was the best we ever had. Even-though nobody spoke english, they were very helpful and cared for everything. They even prepared breakfast and coffee and cake in the afternoon just for us. It is 10 minutes walk from the harbour, but we loved to stay there. One of the most caring accommodations we had during our trip.
Cons: Everything was perfect.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The host was very friendly. The room was clean and the pousada has a nice outdoor area. The breakfast was great with a lot of fresh fruits. We liked the location as it was a bit further away from the harbour, so less crowded. It was just a few minutes walk, so still close enough to the beach, restaurants and shops.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: The location is amazing, away from city life noise but in crawling distance from everything. Although Abraao is not big and you walk around it very fast but we still found our Pousada location to be the best. Staff speaks english and are welcoming, flexible and helpful (which is not so easy to find in Ilha grande if not speaking portuguese). The aircondition might not be the most effective one but they are clear with this in the information and it was okay for us despite very hot weather. The design of the hotel adds to a cozy feeling. If coming back to Ilha Grande we would absolutely stay here again.
Cons: Some healthier alternatives for breakfast would be appreciated, just adding eggs would do a lot. Nice with fresh fruit though but otherwise it's mainly white bread and different cakes.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: reception. people. surprisingly it was quiet enough for a place right in the center of the village! very fresh cakes, well, everything in breakfast. very understanding , forthcoming owner. early check in,.......
Cons: things get worn out of course, but still function good enough.....
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Excellent breakfast. Cozy and well maintained.
Cons: Rooms a bit small for a party of 4. Slow wifi. More power outlets and a bedside light are needed.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: This pousada is one of the nicest we’ve stayed in during a trip through Brazil. The staff are so friendly and helpful and speak good English - which is helpful when your Portuguese isn’t advanced! The general vibe of the place is great, really laid back and the decor is adorable ! Spending breakfast watching hummingbirds in the garden was a delight. We were also allowed to leave our bags at the pousada on check out day and then have a lovely HOT shower before heading on our way. Thank you for a lovely few days.
Cons: The breakfast was nice, but limited.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Good location - just few minutes walk from the main port and beaches. Very friendly staff, pleasant atmosphere. Nice breakfast served at the the terrace with beautiful view. Also it was nice to enjoy free coffee with pastries everyday after the lunch time. We had a room with one king and two single beds. It was very simple but comfortable. It was so nice to chill out in the patio with hammock. We had an enjoyable time in Ilha Grande

Pros: Excellent ! And good breakfast
Cons: Careful, some rooms are close to the electric generator and the diving school which generates a lot of noise. Avoid those rooms

Pros: Lovely stay in a beautiful hotel! The hotel was just off the busy main strip which meant it was perfect in the evening. Also set in a jungle-esq jungle which made the hotel more special. Beach towels and bat and ball were available from the hotel which was super helpful. Great staff, great breakfast, comfortable rooms. Couldn't ask for more.
Cons: nothing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nothing to complain about - everything was great! We would like to compliment Elton for his thoughtful way and for giving us very nice advice!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our stay in the Pousada dos Cambucas was very good. It has a good location, not in the center of the village but 3m walking distance from the center in a more quiet place. It's kind of an eco lodge that makes you feel as if you are in the middle of the nature, with birds waking you up in the morning with their songs, and with a clear attention to the water usage and waste recycling. I would like to emphasize here the welcome reception made by Sandra, the manager of the Pousada, that has been always very nice to us, providing us all the tips to get to know the island, and making herself available at all times to make us feel at home.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: 10 out of 10! Best host during our trip in Brasil. Very friendly and helpful staff, nice setup/facilities/ecosystem, nice room, best breakfast, many xtras!

Pros: The location was great. Good variety for breakfast. Helpful and happy staff. An amazing view from room 7 (Superior Double). It feels like you're living in a jungle.
Cons: n/a
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very close to the center Calm and relaxing place Staff very friendly
Cons: I am paying a big amount for two people, why is only one beach towel included, second one we had to pay extra. We dis not use all other things that were included.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast and room are really good! The staff is really nice, they borrow me some snorkel and towels for the beach
Cons: Inside the room I heard everything around it, the steps of the people of outside and from the other rooms
7.5 Good
Pros: The gardens is beautiful - lush and excellently tended to. The housekeeping staff make the room up imaculately each day. The room looks very nice. Coffee machine is good. The jacuzzi bath, once you've got the nack for turning it on, is brilliant. Breakfast is nice. They lend you beach umbrellas & snorkels. We paid for a massage too - the spa room is gorgeous, a beautiful spot, but the masseuse wasn't great. That's are lots of nice things about this place too, we had a great stay here, but for the price we'd expect lots of little things to be improved (see 'dislike' part of this review)
Cons: It was a little overpriced. For the price i'd expect the details to be better - such as the jacuzzi bath running cold unless you run it in a certain way (their maintenance person helped us on the first day, but we had the same problem every time we ran it), having to ask for a lock to the safe and it being so stiff you can hardly get the key out, no net curtains but big glass doors between your bed and the pattio where the staff & guests walk through, the bed is a bit hard - a better mattress is needed, the room gets very damp because of the jacuzzi bath & due to a stream running though the property next to the room - ventilation /dehumidifier is needed, the stack of dusty old videos ... - this should be kept up to date or switched to a TV subscription (netflix etc), lending you only one beach towel and charging for a second one when the are two of you, the masseuse spending a lot of time on her phone not paying much attention, massaging one handed or just stopping.... It's a very nice place to stay, but lots of little things should be addressed if they are to charge that much money...
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The place was lovely and peaceful!! Very well located, close to the port but in a quiet area. The staff was always friendly and helpful! Breakfast is amazing. We had such a nice stay!
Cons: The nearest beach is not very close: 15min walking distance

8.3 Excellent
Pros: The backyard of the pousada is amazing, it is what I most enjoyed of it. The deco of it is impecable, it has a place where you can meditate (read in my case), sourranded by nature and trees, hearing birds sing. The location is very nice, it is near the beach side and city center but far enough so that there is not much noise to rest, perfect!. The staff is very nice and helpful, always willing to help out and make you feel confortable and welcome.
Cons: Eventhough the room was confortable enough, it was a little dark. The rooms downstars are in from of the yard were passangers walk by, so there was not much room for opening the windows to allow more light without loosing privacy. Nevertheless, I did not mind this since I was never at my room and all the other good things of the pousada compensate by far this issue.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was great. Breakfast, bedroom, staff, location in Abraao
10.0 Excellent
Pros: -Staff were excellent and able to assist with any questions. -Beautiful setting with a small garden, scattered with cosy places to relax. -Excellent breakfast with freshly made cakes, fruit salad and scrambled egg cooked on- demand. -The whole place is well maintained and extremely aesthetically pleasing.
Cons: Minor quibbles are: -Having to wear a wristband all the time you are there in order to gain access. -Need to carry bulky safe key around with you, they don’t lock electronically.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very clean and friendly staff
Cons: Bathroom window didn’t close very minor
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Good room, comfortable bed and the best shower I’ve had in South America with piping hot water. Fan and aircon in the room although we didn’t use/need latter. Very good breakfast, fresh and lots of choice. Lovely location but also quiet. Beautiful garden setting for the rooms as well. Also after check out you can leave luggage and then return and use shower/towels which is so convenient and let’s you make the most of your last day if you have a late transfer/bus. Nice family and some of them speak English which is helpful. Would 100% stay again. We loved it and also the island.
Cons: The plug sockets are different to Rio, not the guest house’s fault but be aware. None of our plugs worked in these sockets. They kindly lent us several adaptors but only one worked which we rotated between three of us. WiFi not great but think this is an island problem rather than the guest house.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was amazing. The garden is awesome and wonderful for relaxing. The staff is helpful and friendly. Rooms are clean and spacious.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice place, clean and well located by the main town. The garden is a nice touch.
Cons: Missing some nicer touches, could definitely set up a tea/ coffee area for rainy days. There a festival styled bracket system for security - feels a little unnecessary and haven’t experienced this anywhere else in Brazil.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: This property is maintained with great care for each detail. I was positively surprised and I felt being a guest of a boutique hotel. The bed was extremely comfortable. The breakfast is of high quality and served in a beautiful foaier.
Cons: Room is quite limited in space if you have a big luggage. Mosquito nets will be a nice touch.

Cons: Just okay. Rooms not very nice. Breakfast OK but not more. Staff speaks no english.

7.5 Good
Pros: In the heart of Abrao. Nice little terrasse.
Cons: Sometimes noisy (in the heart of Abrao...!)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Phenomenal location! Food at the lodge is superb and plentiful. Overall an excellent bang for your buck - Vanessa the receptionist was extremely helpful in arranging our transfer back to Rio airport and Marcos the manager is constantly checking in on you.
Cons: There was a small power outage on our last day of the visit so our aircon was cut off. Other than that, no problems whatsoever with our stay.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The location could not have been better, very close to the pier. The view we had from the room and the shower was super good and we could also spend time at a balcony down the first floor. Unfortunately the restaurant that was recommended by our guide book was closed but the breakfast were huge and great. Definitely consider that if you think that the night rate is too expensive. I highly recommend this place.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Location and food was amazing
Cons: Small rooms but perfect for 2 adults
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Great location a block from the ferry pier, near other restaurants as well. Air conditioning worked, the upstairs is tastefully decorated, breakfast was cooked to order. Lovely harbor view from our balcony.
Cons: Bed frame was a bit shaky and squeaked. On a Saturday night, there was partying outside until 3am.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Ideally located hotel above a lovely restaurant at the end of the ferry pier. Rooms were lovely spacious and clean. Front rooms have a lovely view of the harbor area and the sunrises are incredible. Very close to trails for the beaches, taxi boats and rest of the town. Breakfast is absolutely brilliant. Everything served to you with a big choice. Coffee and fresh fruit v good. Loved it so much I stayed another night.
Cons: Being right in town and at the pier it’s very noisy with all local pubs and restaurants but rooms are fairly sound proof. Part of the charm.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Clean place, great location and helpful staff.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: I would only book the rooms with ocean view and balcony (there are two with a balcony and two without). All other rooms face away from the beach. This really was a highlight, hearing the waves and waking up to the impressive harbour view. Breakfast was also great and you can have dinner and drinks as well. The pousada also takes credit cards, so cash is not needed.
Cons: The weather was excrutiatingly hot and humid, so thankfully there is an air-conditioner (in the room with a view and balcony). It is also right next to the wharf, so perfect for transfers. All in all, a positive experience, would recommend.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The Pousada is well located next to the pier, so it's very good for people like me who travel with a lot of suitcases :) It's close to all the beach restaurants and bars. I had a room with a balcony and hammock chair, so had a great time relaxing there with the sea view. You'll hear the waves from your bed, I personally think it's amazing. I really liked the breakfast, good variety and tasty. Having breakfast with a sea view is always the best. Staff are nice and welcoming.
Cons: My room was a little smelly, but everything else was great
7.9 Good
Pros: Location was great- right next to the pier which was helpful for trips! Room was nice and clean and comfy bed!
Cons: Slight smell from the bathroom but was not a huge problem!

Pros: All was Ok. Breakfast great. nice place & garden.
Cons: Price was a bit high. first contact with management was a little rough and I would have imagined a more warm welcome. instead we had to read all the rules of the place and pay in advance.
7.1 Good
Pros: good location, spacious enough and comfortable room, nice, exotic decorations; pretty good café attached to the inn
Cons: the wifi was pretty bad, the room had a small ceiling leak, it was hard to find staff when you need them
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Great place to stay. Shower didn’t have any hot water for the 3 days we were there, so had to get used to a classic cold shower routine!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was good, the rooms are clean and neat. The location is perfect, as well as the service by the staff! We loved the afternoon coffee and cookies as well. Would definitely recommend this place.
Cons: It was great; if possible, request a room on the first floor, it'll be even quieter. Rooms could be bigger, but the seating area outside makes up. For. It.

Pros: Loved the pool, loved the breakfast, loved the location and loved how relaxed it was.
Cons: some things in the room were a little shabby
5.8 Okay
Pros: Poor choice and quality
Cons: Pool bar was built and never manned or available
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The location is very convenient for life in island. Their facility like swimming pool is amazing.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Incredibly clean, pool, fridge in room, lovely hot showers, amazingly located. Cleaned the rooms and fresh towels every day - just all round great.
Cons: Didn't seem to speak English but that's more our fault for having terrible Portuguese! Breakfast a bit average.
7.1 Good
Pros: Excellent location just off the main street and pier, easy access to hiking trails and several beaches. Nice pool area. Very good breakfast.
Cons: There are no hairdryers in rooms, you have to ask reception to borrow one - if someone else is using it, tough luck! The shower pressure could be better and the room was really damp - even our clothes and bags got damp, however, while we were there it wasn't too hot and sunny so maybe it's better when the weather improves.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Pretty hotel in a stunning location. The staff tried to be helpful when asked but were not very experienced. There was a refreshing variety of fresh fruit for breakfast.
Cons: The room was too small for 3 beds squashed together. There was a smell of wee in the cupboard. The bed spreads did not look like they had been washed. The bathroom shower area and ceiling was full of mould patches. When we asked for an alternative room - the young man at reception did send someone to clean it but no apology or compromise alternative was offered. There was a cat walking on the table cloths in the dining area. It was the worst standard of room, customer service and value for money I experienced during my one month of travelling around South America. There were times in the day when there were staff around!!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: nice pool and centrally located in Abraão. Breakfast was nice and staff was very helpful. Beautiful property. Pousada has a generator which was nice when the rain caused power outages.
Cons: The air conditioner in the room was pointed at one corner so the rest of the room was still pretty warm. Wi-fi works well by the pool but not in the rooms. There's also a swim up bar but no one was ever there to actually serve drinks?
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic little Pousada just minutes from the main ferry terminal, with plenty of bars and restaurants within walking distance. Great breakfast, nice clean rooms, fantastic staff and a lovely private swimming pool as well. Would definitely recommend this to anyone considering it!
Cons: Bit of building work going on next door but only during daylight hours so really no distraction at all.

Pros: This Pousada was built and is managed with great care and attention to details. Bruno was very welcoming, helpful and provided many tips about the island, which made our stay really perfect. Many thanks !
Cons: No suggestions for improvement excepting making the kitchen a little more practical for multiple people to use and also sorting the recyclable waste, yet both points are already in process. With the new kitchen, it will become even better.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The room and the bathroom are recently renovated and decorated simply but with taste The view from the bed and the cosy balcony is really nice, you really feel in nature and away from the main street The bed was very comfy and the room overall had a very cozy feeling to it
Cons: It was not a problem for us but like everyone said the way to come to the hotel is quite steep! It is maybe 10min walking from the main street and 5 going up. You end up there without breath but its worth it!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely helpful staff, beautiful clean rooms

Pros: All is perfect !
Cons: up and down stairs because it was slippery because of the rain
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great place to stay in Abraão, elegantly decorated and comfortable rooms.
Cons: Currently no breakfast is served, and the shared kitchen can get crowded in the morning.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: What an amazing accomodation, the rooms are very well designed, completely clean, the staff is very friendly and the area is calm and quiet. Definitely my favourite stay so far! The island was out of electricity for two days because of a fallen tree and the owner decided not to charge us for those two nights, excellent service
Cons: Everything was excellent
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice and clean rooms with a beautiful view! The Breakfast is really good.
Cons: We had some rainy days and it was a strange smell in our room that they explained come from the tree in the room when it gets wet... they helped us to change room but not with the same view though.
7.9 Good
Pros: The daily room service was great, the room was very clean. Wifi was great! Air con was great and silent so you could use it while you slept. The room was quiet and the shower was a rain shower so very nice.
Cons: The beds were extremely firm and the room smelled very musty. We booked it due to the great breakfast and upon arrival were told breakfast was not being offered during winter, but we were given some money back. It’s a bit of a hike from the wharf but location is beautiful in the trees!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: We loved the cabaña because it was so comfortable and private. Everything was clean, attractive, and seemed new. The grounds were full of beautiful plants and cute cats.
Cons: The staff was not very friendly or helpful and seemed to ignore us for the duration of our stay even though there were few other guests. The location was a little far, but was no problem for us because we liked being out of the center of town.

Pros: Very friendly staff, good location, clean and cozy room

Pros: Breakfast was really good, location is good and it is clean.
Cons: Wi-Fi at some point didn’t work in the room, just need to reset the router. I did it (twice) online and worked. Staff doesn’t speak english. The shower wasn’t hot 2 out of 4 times in the morning, but it was still ok and warm enough.

Pros: Good location, friendly staff, comfortable bed and great shower. Good value for money. Breakfast is simple, but good enough. The place has a generator in case of a blackout, that seems to be pretty common in the island.

5.8 Okay
Pros: Breakfast ok for a pousada; central location on the main street; the room was clean.
Cons: - Internet very poor; - Smaller room than advertised; - Not a single English word so zero communication or interaction with the host...anyway the host was rarely around so it would have been difficult to get help or reccommendations; - Serious security concerns...if you want to get ur room cleaned you have to leave your room key in an open box...so anyone (including someone from the street - as the pousada door is not locked during the daytime - could get your key and access your room to steal your belongings (no safe in the room!). After your room is cleaned they put your keys in the same box...so again anyone can take your keys...not to mention that after cleaning the room the ladies leave the room windows open...so keys are not needed if one wants to steal your stuff! Incredibly reckless attitude by the owner and the staff...they MUST change this whole room cleaning process! - As the main street is not paved it's really hard to carry a heavy trolley on a sand/dirt road...it would be nice if they offered a luggage transfer from the pier...like other pousadas do...but clearly they lack the cuatomer care :( - the shower provides hot water only if you use the shower at very low volume/flow of water...if you want a stronger flow the water will be almost cold - no hair dryer in the room but they provided one upon request -AC very noisy like all over in Brazil but in this case you really feel like you sleep in a helicopter if the AC is on during the night; Overall: average bed and breakfast (which was somehow expected) but with serious room security issues and with a total impossibility to communicate with foreign guests which made the whole experience pretty unpleasant and very "cold".
7.1 Good
Pros: Staff is helpful and nice, mostly they don't speak English, but we understood each other somehow :) the location is good, Abraao is small. The breakfast is nice.
Cons: We stayed there for 3 nights and they didn't clean the room during our stay, but when we asked them to change us towels they did.

Pros: Overall I enjoyed my stay here. It is a cute little hotel on a quiet street in Ilha Grande. The AC worked well, it was clean, and the staff was friendly. It had a cute outdoor area and a nice ambiance.
Cons: The downsides were that the internet didn't work in my room and that the water was turned off for a long time one day while they were refilling it. This is to be expected in an island property.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderfully decorated place, very clean every where. The room was very spacious, a lovely bathroom and also a fridge which was helpful as we made use of the kitchen. The staff are welcoming and very accommodating, the cats are so cute and friendly. It’s a decent location from the main streets, only a few minutes walk.
Cons: It had every thing we could want for our 3 night stay, can’t complain.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Have to be honest, I booked the place mostly because of the cats Haha. I really love cats and indeed there are three of them at this place. I especially liked the Siamese looking one. She just loves to cuddle. If you are in room nr 6 she might knock on your door to see if you want Some company. About the place: Nice big room, kitchen available, cozy and quiet location. Close to the pier. Walls are a bit thin So if there are noisy people in the room next to you, you might hear them.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great location, nicely decorated rooms, daily cleaning service
Cons: The theee cats laying everyevere, including at the table when you are eating. Our room was on the ground floor, when sitting in front you could smell too much cat pee.
2.9 Mediocre
Pros: Everything was terrible
Cons: The was no water in the toilet in the first night and I could not take a shower to sleep after a day in the beach. The lamp of the toilet was not working. The sheets and pillows smeels wet. The receptionist is not friendly or helpful at all. You can find better places for the same price.

Pros: The property itself was beautiful. I loved the resident house kitties. The communal kitchen was also super helpful and helped cut down on costs.

Pros: Great location, well equipped kitchen. Loved the house cats, they were so friendly!
Cons: Unfortunately we were there during a torrential downpour, our upstairs room started to leak from the roof and down the side of the walls due to the heavy rain, however, towels and a bin were provided for the leak.

Pros: Just a 3 min. walk from the port, in front of one of the supermarkets. Near to bars and restaurants. Big breakfast with everything you need, also coffee and cake in the afternoon. The room was spacious, with a big bathroom and fridge. I would definitely recommend it!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great staff, super friendly and helpful. Great breakfast and afternoon coffee and cake. Great shower (gas, not electric). Comfortable beds. Great location, right in front of a grocerie store and super close to all you need, but quiet. Great fruit trees next to the breakfast area, we eat fresh fruit off the tree every day!
Cons: Bathroom door wouldn't close unless we locked it (no big deal). Nowhere to hand clothes in the room, but we had shelves. Air Conditioning dripped, but they fixed it.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was an awesome stay during 3 nights in low season. We´ve stayed in one of the upper rooms (number 9). Awesome basic breakfast with a nice variety of fresh fruits. Spotlessly clean room, neat mattress, great shower and an outstanding staff: polite, simple and very helpful. Trouble free checkin/checkout. Totally recommended. Great value for money!
Cons: The design of the wooden window frame doesn´t allow to seal it to avoid entrance of mosquitoes, but turning the ceiling fan on guaranteed a nice night of sleep. Noisy street, but it´s not Bugio´s fault if people like to yell instead of talking.

Pros: Beautiful peaceful location. Hearty breakfast Complimentary kayaks beautiful sea facing rooms
Cons: No back up generator - electricity kept going out Hotel restaurant not as great
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The rooms The private beach area with sun loungers The view Good transfers hourly to the town if you want a change in eve. We did this second night as didn't fancy another pizza and didn't want to pay £20 for prawn pasta.
Cons: It was an amazing place! Beautiful beach and lovely rooms however I didn't feel the eating area reflected this. It was indoors, boiling, food was average although we only ate one night as limited menu. Bit more ambience needed for 110 quid a night! Really just because there is nothing else to do! No TV in room also. We couldn't sit and play cards after dinner as we're getting eaten alive!! Maybe drinks offered outside would be good. We are travelling for 3 months and this was a treat with private beach a bit more service would be good
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect getaway, it combines the advantages of a very quiet and private place with the advantages of not being far from Abraao. Andresa, the manager, is extremely helpful and accommodating, she was really a caring host. The property is quiet, with your own beach just by your window. If you want to reach the city you can either take a walk (20 mins through the forest) or there is a free and easy boat service offered by the property (you can get the boat to pick you up until 2 am). This place was a dream.
Cons: Ilha Grande is a beautiful place but it is fundamental that you get a vaccination against yellow fever before you go there. Look around for information, you should do this 10 days before you travel.

Pros: Great staff, very beautiful beach
7.9 Good
Pros: location, view
Cons: bathroom could be better
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Everything, absolutely no need to go to Abraão. Fantastic water. Saw dolphin, turtle and Mantha in front of the beach. We had a nice, and unexpected, new year party.
Cons: The path to Portal do Sol from Abraão is not usable, part of it is under water. This probably increases privacy but we did not knew about it so had to go back.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The location was perfect, paradise for relax and the snorkeling close to the hotel was outstanding
Cons: The transfer service to the village was not well organized, whenever you needed the service it was not available. You have to call the guy to pick up you and was always late to the appointment
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything about this hotel was perfect, the location the views the staff the little private beach the breakfast. Thanks for a great time
Cons: There was nothing not to like apart from the amount of steps up to the room
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Staff was extremely helpful and nice. The pousada is located in an astonishing scenario and feels very integrated with the environment. It is a great place if you want to relax but still look to be close to the main village. I totally recommend it.
Cons: The price, just like everything else in Ilha Grande. Especially for meals.

Pros: My partner and I had the pleasure of staying at Pousada Portal Do Sol on Ilha Grande for my 30th Birthday between 17-19th July and this place is simply breathtaking. This place has friendly staff, all amenities and food was outstanding - the best we've had to far in our Brazil
Cons: Nothing - the place is perfection.

7.1 Good
Pros: The overall atmosphere was really peaceful; hammocks in front of the door, relaxing area at the pool, flowers and plants everywhere! The staff was really nice and helpful. The breakfast was a-m-a-zing, everyday day they had different local specialties, cakes, fruit, etc. And snacks were provided in the afternoon.
Cons: The airconditioning didn't work properly, which made it very hot at night (especially in a family room). That is something to pay attention to. The road to the pousada is ok at night, but I wouldn't go there alone.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Overall really nice pousada, the breakfast was among the best ones we had in Brazil plus they offer an afternoon coffee. Very nice staff. Location is good (a bit off the main road). WiFi works really good in the community area.
Cons: Rooms were clean but the first room we had smelled a bit strange/mouldy which is a general problem on the island due to the humidity. Second room was much better.
7.5 Good
Pros: Swimming pool and outdoor setting was enjoyable. Quiet and secluded location away from the hustle and bustle of the main area of the island.
Cons: Rooms are quite old and dated. Very noisy facilities - i.e fan, AC, refrigerator all make intermittent noises throughout the night, and you can hear these from other rooms. Balcony wasn’t as pictured - looked into an alleyway with a video camera looking onto it.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Location was very secluded and pretty. Breakfast was excellent and there is also tea and coffee around 17:30pm.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Excellent breakfast. Really delicious home baking. Friendly staff. Beautiful gardens.
Cons: The room was very small and the bathroom was tiny. Not enough facilities for storing clothes.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The staff were excellent, super helpful and friendly! The breakfast was superb and they have a courtesy tea/coffee in the evening, with toasts, biscuits and cake. The swimming pool area was always clean and welcoming after a day on day on the beach. It definitely make more pleasant!
Cons: The property is not as near the pier as we thought. The 15 min walk was only an issue when we had the bags.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice and relaxed place, a little bit like a jungle lodge. Nothing luxurious, but clean, with friendly staff (family run), comfortable beds, AC and hot water in the shower. Good breakfast. Nice garden, we sat there in the evenings, had some drinks and played cards. Would happily go back there again. We were there in July however, not sure how it would be during the summer/tourist season. Too hot and too crowded??
Cons: There were no wardrobes in our rooms, so we had to store our clothes in our bags. OK for a couple of days though.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was excellent. The staff was very nice and helpful. The garden was very beautiful. The location of the hotel was very convenient, far from the noise but close to all the important things to enjoy Isla Grande.
Cons: There was not enought place to keep clothes in the room and to hang wet clothes for the following day.
