Lift did not serve all rooms, had t carry luggage. Traffic noise on street made sleep difficult.
Lisa at reception was incredibly helpful and charming. Elizabeth knew so much about trails and cable cars.
The very accommodating staff gave us an apartment rather than a double room since it was closer to the elevator. The apartment was beautiful. Spacious, immaculately clean, best shower I have had in months, spectacular view from the private balcony. The breakfast was above average, with very tasty fresh rolls. Only thing lacking might have been a warm protein other than soft cooked eggs. I would return.
The facilty could have been just a bit more rollator-accessable. There is an elevator, but in order to use it for the whole trip from ground to room, one must contact a staff person.
We were a group of 23 serious skiers from Finland using this hotel as our base camp to visit all the big ski areas in the Zillertal valley. This hotel was a perfect choice, as all the ski areas are within easy reach: to the Zillertal Arena just 5 min bus ride, Mayrhofen and Hochzillertal 10 min train or car ride, to Hintertuxer Gletcher 30 min car drive. The hotel has a nice wellness floor with many saunas, and the Finnish sauna was almost like Finnish sauna – perfect relaxation after heavy day of skiing. The village itself and the hotel is very quiet and peaceful, so good sleep is guaranteed. There are some good restaurants around and supermarkets are nearby. The hotel itself is a charming little family kept hotel in the very centre of the Zell am Ziller village. The interiors are exceptionally well kept and very clean, the decorations unique Austrian. At the street level there is a bakery shop. There is a large private parking place and storage rooms for ski equipment, heated ski boot racks.
These are not really negative comments, just something good to know: This is not a big international chain hotel, so do not expect 24/7 service in all languages. The reception has limited opening hours, so you cannot arrive after 6 PM. It is best to communicate in German. A big group is required to pay full price in advance. This is not the place to have big noisy parties, it is for a quiet relaxed stay. The building is quite a maze, which makes it very personal and unique, but it is not good for mobility impaired.
We really liked the cleanliness and the friendly staff. The bed was great also, managed to get some good sleep.
It's not something we didn't like, just a recommendation: an update to the breakfast: gluten-free bread, avocados, more fresh fruits & vegetables, more vegetarian options, fat-free yogurt, non-diary yogurts ... just a healthier-modern twist. We managed to find some options: boiled eggs, whole bread, and a few vegetables ... but would be really great to have less sugary/processed options.
