My concierge at the counter, Faye, was the real winner. She was courteous and efficient and personable. When her assistants in the lot could not seem to give her the correct car VIN to match her computer record (she asked at least 5 times to have them relay the correct # to no avail—the last two of her requests went unanswered even ☹️)—that’s when Faye took matters into her own hands. After having me wait 15 minutes for her assistants to do their job, Faye ditched them entirely and upgraded my rental herself, allowing me to move on in time to make my fathers funeral. Faye’s lot assistants may need a review and some more training—but FAYE WAS STELLAR AND MADE MY WHOLE TRIP UNCOMPLICATED—and even stylishly comfortable. When I arrived at the location to pick up my rental car I was told that they don't have a car. I said that was not acceptable and asked why my rental was confirmed. I only got a shrug and puzzled faces and heard there was nothing they could do. After pressing very hard one person went on the computer and told me that I could go to Reagan National Airport and get a car there, which I did. At the airport I got a car but when I asked for a discount or upgrade for the massive frustration and delay I was told there was nothing they could do because the airport location had a different owner. Not only did I not get a discount or upgrade, I ended up having to pay more than I had agreed to when I made the reservation. All in all the experience was a 2 out of 10. The gentleman who was helping me he came out and check the car with me but when I mentioned that the interior was dirty and full of dust he tried to clean it with he’s hand. He didn’t say anything or apologize about that. It’s unacceptable when you rent car to be delivered in that condition.Reviewed 9 Aug. 2022

I waited for 30 minutes in a line that was nearly out the door, and e en though there were three people at the counter only 1 person checked out during that time. I abandoned my reservation and grabbed a new one from Enterprise right there on the spot and was out the door 3 minutes later.Reviewed 9 Aug. 2022

The woman who I rented the car through tried, without asking, to charge me for items I didn't want: tolls, prepaid gas, insurance. She insisted my insurance did not cover the "out of use" charges I would incur if the car were damaged even after I told her my insurance would cover it. After she insisted my insurance would not cover the costs I relented and told her to write it up so we could get out of there. Then, I received a text message saying my credit card had been charged ~$400 more than the contact stated. I immediately went online with my credit card to dispute the charge. Then, when we got to the car in the parking lot, another woman showed up with paperwork stating she had the car we were given. After consulting with a very nice lady working in the garage, I agreed to allow the other woman to have the first car. I was given another car. As soon as I started it up and drove away, the "CHECK ENGINE - Maintenance required" light came on. I returned the car and requested another one. Another garage attendant gave me a Jeep, which I didn't want due to the bad gas mileage. We took it anyway so we could get to our destination. The next time I started the Jeep the "OIL CHANGE REQUIRED" light came on. Now what do I do. I'm not in Boston anymore. A couple days later I noticed new oil spots in the driveway where I was parking my car. A nice gift for the people we were renting their house from. When I returned the car to the Portland, ME, office, I was greeted by a very nice gentleman who quickly checked us in and wished us well. An experience I do not want to repeat so I will no longer, ever, rent a car from Budget. It was the first, and last, time I used your agency. Very poorly managed at the initial desk, obviously not in control to rent the same car to two different people, and obviously poor maintenance on the vehicles. I truly doubt anyone will read this. Raymond the Budget associate was very helpful and understood our needs. He was pleasant and very personable even though he was the only associate working the budget and Avis counter and the store was packed with customers returning and picking up rentals. I told Raymond that Budget/Avis was lucky to have someone with such excellent people and service skills. Only thing when we picked up car it had not been cleaned or vacuumed after the last occupants and the windshield wiper fluid was low as the indicator light kept coming on during my travels. Other than that the car was an excellent car for the money and again Raymond made it all the more pleasant. I would highly recommend doing business at this location again.Reviewed 9 Aug. 2022

I rented with Budget and they said "a car had been reserved for me", but when I arrived, there were no cars available. I waited hours and ultimately had to figure something else out. The worst part is, they didn't tell me no cars were available. The clerk at the counter said a car was there, but they needed to clean it and it would be read in ~15 minutes. This was clearly a lie. After 4 hours of being told it still needed 15 min of cleaning, I realized they were lying to me and there actually was no car on the lot. I AM NEVER USING BUDGET AGAIN.Reviewed 9 Aug. 2022
