8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great location, beautiful views, good beach, pristine water, lovely friendly staff, great swimming pools, good food in the restaurants. Awesome swimming teacher, Andrea. The breakfast was good for Italy. Nothing was too much bother.
Cons: The rooms needs a bit of a revamp. The bathrooms and walk in wardrobes were v small for the price compared to other top notch hotels we have stayed at around the world. Also a Nespresso machine and tea making facilities as a standard feature would be nice and maybe a welcome drink/snack/fruit/chocs etc.... When you are paying 1000 euros a night for a family room, expectations are high. The hotel had the feel of slightly faded glory. The first time we ordered room service, they brought us sachets of oil, vinegar, salt and pepper instead of bottles and mills. Not good enough for a 5 star hotel. To be fair they didn’t make that mistake twice.... They also need parasols on the sun beds around the pools, so you can watch your kids in the shade.... 14 euros for an apérol spritz....
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location and views were incredible
Cons: I liked everything
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location, the food, the service was excellent
Cons: The beach was not very clean
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The location of this hotel is so beautiful. Even though we only paid for a garden view room, they upgraded us to a sea view for no cost. The staff is all bi-lingual and very friendly - we especially found the waitstaff to be great. Carlos at Reception was exceptional - he got us a taxi from the ferry and was very helpful. The room was lovely and comfortable, my only quibble was that there was no iron and the hair dryer was very poor quality. But when you are staying a t beach who really cares! The beach and a pool were exceptional. My mom and I spent the whole day gassing out at the amazing views and had a delicious lunch at the swim up bar in the pool. It was exactly the R&R we were looking for. The food at any of the restaurants at the resort was delicious - including the breakfast. The last night we ate at the main dining hall as everything else was closed for dinner, and while we grumbled a little about having to get dressed up, the food was worth it! We did the pre-fix menu with the salad and dessert buffet, and it is well worth the money. We had a grand time and savored every bite. The last thing I will say is that although the restaurants are great, be forewarned that there are no other places to eat outside the resort if you don't have a car. The resort is on the other side of the mountain so you can't get back to Portoferrio without a taxi, and we didn't want to pay $25 euros for a cheaper meal. But other than that it is exceptional!
Cons: The resort is very secluded so don't expect to go elsewhere once you get there if you don't have a car. I would have liked more casual beachfront options for dinner and a little downtown to do shopping.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The view, the restaurant & the BBQ! Very clean.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Exceptional hotel, staff and location. Couldn't ask for more. First class
Cons: n/a
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Beach area is fantastic. Amazing location. Really relaxing vibe to the hotel. We had the 4 course dinner in the restaurant which we thought was fantastic!
Cons: No tea/coffee facilities in the room would expect a nespresso machine which is pretty standard these days. Although we had some very good service, especially in the evening restaurants! We dined at both. I would say the staff give off an unfriendly vibe in general. Could have more people by the beach. 1 server for the whole beach is quite poor. Travelling in September a lot of close by restaurants were closed for the season.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Superb amenities and location. Excellent staff + service, superb.
Cons: Bathroom not great. Terrible closing loo seats. Should be soft close for 5 star hotel. Silicone around Bath.. poor. Tired paintwork around doors. Otherwise perfect + very clean. Lack of privacy between balconies on bedroom terrace.
6.7 Good
Pros: Nice hotel, nice location but living on it's reputation. Needs to be improved in certain areas such as restaurant options that are not all expensive.

Cons: Cannot recommend the provided dinner option. The food is mediocre.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Nice and friendly people. Fantastic surroundings and an amazing garden. Good food.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Really beautiful place. Staff were super super friendly. Really sophisticated vibe but families were welcome too. A refreshing change. Tonnes of great food, some really varied vegan options too. Wine was also fabulous. You should advertise that better! Very short walk to the gorgeous beach.
Cons: There were lots of vegan options. We asked for the set menu and they said they would make it vegan for us by swapping dishes and making it better for us. When it came to finalising the bill, they had charged us twice. Once for the set menu and once for the dishes we had instead of the meat options. Very disappointed with that.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The grounds of this hotel are spectacular. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are very nice and comfy. This place is great.

Pros: wonderful hidden location! in the middle of nature with stunning view on portoferraio bay. Very beautiful terrace, cosily furnished, beautiful well kept Garden. I've had a single room, with own bathroom, which was small but absolutely sufficient for my purpose. Breakfast was very good. I certainly can recommend the hotel and I myself will stay there again, for sure...

The property is 400 metres from the centre of the village, and is well placed for diving activities. Elba Airport is a 5-minute drive away.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Location excellent - just at the sea. One can also relax at the hotel pool which is great and big enough for swimming, equipped with a bar. Hotel is quiet, comfortable, breakfast ok (Italian). All in all the hotel is excellent value for the price and ideal for beach holidays on Elba. The ambience and surrounding is amazing, beach is clean and the city centre is 7 minute walk from the hotel. There are some beach bars close by opened late.
Cons: We were disappointed a bit by the evening meals - they are too overthought / too complicated, we'd appreciate simpler cuisine from local products. Shame there´s no hotel sunbeds at the beach and one must pay for them (~ 30 eur)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great hotel, helpful, highly supportive, dedicated and polite stuff, great location! It was plesure to stay in the hotel. This was great experience and will come back.
Cons: Nothing, everthing was great.

Featured amenities include a 24-hour business center, dry cleaning/laundry services, and a 24-hour front desk. 9.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything exceeded the expectations expected the fact that in the reservation was for a seas side view room and the we got a garden view with to it is a minor detail. The acomodation is very good, the location is perfect for a beach holidays and the food is very good particularly at dinner time.
Cons: Has said before everything was perfect and I would quote this hotel 10 if at the checkout, after expressing how much i liked the hotel despite the small detail, the lady in charge did not tell me that I was wrong and my room was sea side view. I asked her to come with me to show me the sea from my room and she explained that it was a question room description at booking.com. Instead of accepting that they have a wrong room description that for some customers it can be a problem ( witch is not my case) She tried to convinced that I was the one that was wrong making that comment. This happened on the night of the August 10th when I did the payment of the one week stay and I left very early morning on the 11th. As a summary the hotel wold get a 10 if there wasn't the "non sense argumentation" at the end.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The genuine welcome, and friendly and helpful attitude of their staff ! Comfortable, clean, well proportioned rooms. Outstanding, large saltwater pool, and beautiful beach, with convenient bars ! The most comprehensive, and delicious breakfasts that we experienced in our 2 week trip. We also liked the mid-north-coast location. Would happily return !
Cons: Nothing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The hotel web site reads they want their guests to return and I really do want to return. I am a strict hotel guest and can easily notice even a small shortcoming, but Hotel Del Golfo was the only exception where I have not found any. Everything was just perfect - the attentive staff, the territory of the hotel full of beautiful trees and flowers, the room, internet connection, the big comfortable bathroom, the beach, breakfast, dinner... This list could be endless,
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Location, beautiful beach
Cons: Nothing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: All in all perhaps the best hotel I’ve stayed in. And the vegan croissants for breakfast are to die for.
Cons: As it was very hot outside, it would have been nice with some indoor facilities for the kids.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very Beautiful Property and a we had the most beautiful sea facing suite! Loved the exclusive beach and the food - both at the beach restaurant and at the buffet dinner ! They had sufficient vegan options as well. The staff was very efficient, courteous and helpful!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: A lovely location with excellent views and peaceful surroundings. Generally the staff were very polite and helpful.
Cons: A designated area for smoking in the restaurant area. A lot of people don't like smoke. The price for an upgrade to a sea view rom is unreasonable.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The hotel has an excellent location and a beautiful beach. The rooms are located across the main and several other buildings which are very close to each other but the entire property feels very spacious at the same time. The breakfast is superb (with a sea view), the rooms are super-clean, the bathroom super-luxurious and the staff is super-friendly.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: This is a 5 not a 4 star hotel. It delivers a traditional style of relaxed formality the likes of which I hadn't experienced in a European beach hotel in decades. All the staff are charming and impeccably turned out, and as helpful with elder guests as they are friendly to children (we were a party of both). Food and Beverage exceeded expectations and dinner in the formal dining room (long trousers for chaps encouraged) is a proper gastronomic experience. Pool and sports facilities first class and the private beach is well organised and spotlessly clean. Procchio is a nice sandy bay though the beaches on the south of the island have clearer water when the winds are northerly, the case during our stay. Elba is tiny though, so one can be anywhere in a 15 minute drive. Thoroughly recommended.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful location, perfect service. Top cleanness, I had no issue with the asthma of my son Kindness of the staff goes beyond expectation. It is a dream location. It is also situated close to the main road and it was easy to go an visit other villages. You feel safe, there is even a night guard Only remark is the size of private parking, few cars has to park on the roadway but still inside and protected.
Cons: nothing!
Hotel Biodola - Portoferraio - Building
7
9.1 Excellent (313 reviews)
C$ 251+
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Hotel Biodola in Portoferraio, you'll be just steps from Arcipelago Toscano National Park and Biodola Beach. Featured amenities include a business center, dry cleaning/laundry services, and a 24-hour front desk. Free self parking is available onsite.
6.7 Good
Pros: Beautiful bay views. Allocated beach beds.
Cons: For us the stay was ruined by our initial welcome (or lack of it!) we arrived around 7pm after a days travelling to be told we couldn’t eat in their restaurant as my partner didn’t have long trousers! This was not stated on their website nor were we warned about this prior to our stay and was the reason we Initially chose this hotel over Hermitage. We were offered toast in room service! This meant every evening we had to walk to the nearest restaurant (which were just as miserable and poor food) or drive out - which we happily did just to get away from the uncomfortable atmosphere at this hotel! The rooms were small, hard beds and flat pillows. Breakfast was good food but ruined by the amount of wasps around. Not one member of staff made us feel welcome. Completely up their own arses! Also the resort is quite restrictive, not much to do. Having visited other bits of the island there are far nicer places to stay.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The beach is wonderful - the sea is pristine. The restaurant on site is excellent, food was delicious, which was good as there are limited options nearby if you wanted to eat out in the evening.
Cons: There were a few things that didn't work well at the hotel. There were a lot of wasps in the outside area during breakfast which surely could be dealt with by exterminators, the hotel charges 3EUR for a small bottle of water in the room and there are no tea/coffee facilities to use as an alternative. I would've also appreciated use of an iron. There was a 1EUR charge for towels at the beach. I found the bar and restaurant staff excellent however the reception staff were quite dismissive at times and didn't provide us with much attention (we would've appreciated more tips of things to do whilst in Elba and a smile/greeting when passing by). The jacuzzi - in the brochure as being heated - was freezing cold. A car is a must for Elba unless you are happy to spend time at the same beach each day.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Lovely staff. The most beautiful location I've ever seen. The beach was clean and glorious with your own sun loungers, towels provided. Very relaxed atmosphere
Cons: There could have been more information in the room regarding food. Dinner especially. A menu would have been nice and alternatives if you did not want anything too formal. Some bathrobes would have been nice too,
7.5 Good
Pros: Very friendly staff Good location Great Beach Food was very good
Cons: Service was quite slow and at dinner we were never offered dessert or coffee etc Suddenly all staff had disappeared
6.7 Good
Pros: The property in general was fine. Staff seemed kind and the room was clean. Breakfast buffet was ok, not extra rich though. Sea is nice, clean. Having a private beach is also an advantage.
Cons: The main problem was the location of the hotel. We had b&b in order to experience the local food at the restaurants nearby. But, forget about it. There are around 5 restaurants at the Biodola bay and none of them are good. You have to drive to the city center/or other bays but we didn’t have a car and the last bus to turn back to hotel was only at 19:30. It’s not possible to walk since it’s really hilly. Additionally, the hotel has interesting regulations. It was not possible to enter to the swimming pool before 9:00 and after 19:00. It’s really early!!! The sun was shining! It also happened several times that they cleaned the room with “do not disturb” sign. Also, keep in mind that you need to pay for the towels at the beach. Only the umbrealla and sun beds are included in the hotel price.
8.8 Excellent
Cons: The bird tapping on my window in the morning
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Location and food was fantastic. The beach beautiful and the chairs they provided free with umbrella were very comfortable. The views were unbelievable.
Cons: Hotel should provide towel rack. Customers were placing their towels over the railings. It really took way of the beauty of the hotel.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: The overall atmosphere is definitely relaxing and perfect for a break
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Charme, wonderful view, very friendly staff, excellent renovated rooms Great dinner and breakfast
Cons: All was perfect harmful q
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful hotel with an incredible garden and view. It definitely exceeded our expectations for a 3 stat hotel. The beach is a 15/20mins walk down hill (or up hill going back), otherwise the hotel offers a free shuttle every two hours. The beach is small but the water is so crystal clear!! We tried the hotel restaurant and it was amazing, I also recommend going to the sunset terrace for an aperitivo. Sant’Andrea is a bit of a drive in narrow windy roads from the main ports but the hotel makes it worthwhile!
Cons: Check in could have been a bit more informative, for example I had to call to ask whether the space at the beach was included, whether we needed to book a table for dinner and we were not shown around the property at all. Luckily our room neighbours told us about the sunset terrace with the panoramic view which is up some stairs behind the hotel.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: A very nice family run hotel. Staff very friendly. The newly renovated rooms are very nice and quiet. For Italian standards exceptional breakfast.
Cons: All minor issues were taken care off quickly and efficiently.

Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, a 24-hour front desk, and luggage storage. 9.6 Excellent
Pros: An excellent family room which was clean and spacious - and freshly renovated. The hotel has some nice grounds and the area is very safe (we left our bikes outside - no problem). The staff was very helpful and pleasant. Next time on Elba, I'd expect to stay here again.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The rooms were cosy with an outstanding en suite bathroom It was very quite and had a generous breakfast.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. Our dog was made welcome too. The room was cleaned and tidied daily. Lovely grounds around the hotel with tables and chairs dotted here and there and the bar was always open. Loved the area: the beach wasn't a mass of chairs and umbrellas but could be bought if desired. Excellent lunches to be had at beach bar on far right of beach. Well behaved dogs seemed to be accepted on the beach without leads but this may have been because we were there in May; it could well be different in July and August. Delightful walk into Procchio and brilliant wine bar. ATM is outside bank in small shopping mall in Procchio.
Cons: The shower needs renewing. Its very small and the water fluctuates in temperature. The towels are thin and pretty useless. Check online and make sure that you don't visit the island when there is a car rally happening. We drove to a restaurant one evening on the other side of the island, then couldn't get back to the hotel. After driving round looking for alternate routes, we gave up and slept in the car until the roads were opened at midnight. It would be great if the hotel put up a notice warning you of the road closures.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very cosy and friendly staff. Our room was perfect for us and very clean. Perfect location to move around the island. As last day we were leaving earlier than breakfast time, they prepares us some croissants and coffee. Thank you!
Cons: More fruits for breakfast would be good
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Nice villa you feel at home
Cons: Everything was fine
7.5 Good
Pros: Elba
Cons: They offered in the first evening a room with less facilities that we booked, than they've changed it on second day.
7.1 Good
Pros: Good breakfast. Close to the Procchio beach
Cons: Thin-walled
10.0 Excellent
Pros: beautiful location very friendly and professional staff good traditional Italian cooking will be going there again
9.6 Excellent
Pros: An excellent family room which was clean and spacious - and freshly renovated. The hotel has some nice grounds and the area is very safe (we left our bikes outside - no problem). The staff was very helpful and pleasant. I'd definitely stay here again (and in fact did, just 2 nights later on our way back).
Cons: Nothing to not like!

7.5 Good
Pros: Located right by the beach and walking distance to many bars and restaurants.
Cons: The breakfast pastries were not very nice.
7.9 Good
Pros: The location was perfect, we could reach everything on foot We received all information what we needed for at the reception The breakfast was a good choice to start the day (Donatella was really kind :) )
Cons: We just had problem with our phones - according the experts it should happen because of the power outlet during the charging - we accepted that they couldn't do any worthwhile things to solve our problems but we "lost" one phone and 2 chargers - when we arrived back from the service - the lady at the reception just laughed on us when we came up with our matter and they didn't try to understand our side
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great breakfast. Outstanding crew. Helped us with all we wanted; hiking areas, good restaurants, wine tasting. Every evening nice wine and snacks facilities in the nice restaurant.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Loved everything! This is a super little hotel in a lovely place. Room was large, quiet and bed big & comfy. Breakfast - excellent. Staff extremely helpful. I liked the art.
Cons: As Brits we do like tea making facilities in the room but when in Rome.......
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Incredibly friendly and caring staff, delicious breakfast, extra clean room and bathroom, always felt welcomed and looked after. Also loved the thick walls so you can’t hear your neighbors, meaning you can rest and relax very well any time of the day!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Yacht Club is very Well located near everything, but mostly to the beach. The village is small, so nothing is far away. Easy to park the car either along the street or in a big parking lot for free. The room was OK. Nice bathroom. Elevator, so wheelchair is managable. However the village isn’t that wheelchair friendly. Nore the beaches. The staff is wonderful. Very service minded. Book the boat tickets via Yacht Club and you will get 20% discount.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: All personal, all women by the way, were extraordinarily helpful. One can note, in the most positive meaning, that the hotel is run by ladies. Nothing was amiss in the bathroom and at breakfast. Always with a smile

6.3 Good
Pros: The pool was actually nice. The shower was the biggest thing in the room which is different from other European hotels. And the staff was very polite and kind.
Cons: The rooms are tiny. The jacuzzi was broke. The hotel was on a corner of a busy street that you had to cross from the parking lot. Dont bother getting a balcony "with view". There is no view. There are plenty other hotels closer to the beach for the same price. Also they key to the room is attached to a 5 pound keychain that is horrible to carry around.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Value for money. The food for dinner and breakfast is always more thab expected. The location is good enough to take bus and go to beach. I would definately stay again if i visit elba again
Cons: The room was not very spacious
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very well located. Great pool area. Very relaxing. A very nice boutique hotel walking distance to a beautiful ocean on a beautiful island. Friendly staff. The candlelight dinner around the pool was exceptional. Highly recommended
5.0 Okay
Pros: The barman
Cons: Small room, broken jakuzzi, aproach of main staff, no bar through the day (opens from afternoon)
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: Nice pool area and the bathroom has been renovated
Cons: The bed was the worst ever for a 4 star hotel. It was like sleeping on a bench. We also had dinner at the restaurant. The experience here was far from great. You had to chose during breakfast what you want to eat at night. During dinner I was still eating my appetiser when the first course was served. The maitre just took away my plate with food on an placed the first course in front of me. I was shocked, this all happened without one word. The quality of the food was also very low. We think that every dish is waiting in the kitchen and the waiter looks to the note on your table and a couple of second later you get your food... really a strange experience
5.8 Okay
Pros: Nice people, hotel service, trying their best, helpful reception, very nice garden. View from a room on the beautifully green garden. Once a week a cooking show in the garden (2nd and 3rd photos)
Cons: This hotel seems to be a popular one, but good to know ... A double room is really very, very small (1st photo). A bathroom is tiny. We could change for a junior suite (double size), but it was simply a dark one (must put lights on when reading during a day). The hotel is not 200m from a beach, but exactly 400m. Everybody can check it even in Googlemaps, so why to mislead? The hotel is located by a very busy street/road. Heavy, allday traffic just a few meters from you if you want to spend some time by the swimming pool or during a breakfast. Also you hear it from your room. In “booking” description was a free lunch is served twice week. Not, it is once a week and “the lunch” is just a slice of pizza (3rd photo).
5.4 Okay
Cons: This is NOT a 4 star hotel

8.3 Excellent
Pros: The location, sea food, sunsets
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Superb view and location
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location of the hotel in a quiet bay, on the first line, comfortable room with sea view, helpfull staff, good and diverse cuisine. In order to see all the sights of the island you need a car (free parking).
7.1 Good
Pros: Very friendly staff in the reception, easy to park just outside for free, good breakfast, very clean. The second room we stayed in (top floor with a sea view) was much nicer than the first: it seemed recently refurbished and the bed was comfortable, and the view from the balcony was fantastic. Nice pool.
Cons: Noise from other rooms was easily heard. The service in the restaurant was not very good. We stayed in two different rooms, the first (bottom floor) had an uncomfortable bed and was rather worn out. The private beach was not worth going to (especially not when there are so many nice beaches close by).
9.6 Excellent
Pros: location is amazing! The view is great , sunset was beautiful. Free parking around . So quiet around. The breakfast was nice and staff was so kind. The room was clean and tidy.
Cons: Housekeeper was starting to clean the rooms so early around 8.30-9 am ... so was difficult to sleep well , unfortunately the walls are very thin and everything is audible.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was good and very clean. The staff were all very helpful and polite. The only downside is that it's an expensive taxi ride to the town if you want to head out in the evening. Although saying that, they run taxi boat's in the day time. Overall had a very good stay and there was some lovely beaches close by if you fancy a decent bike ride.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great staff Private beach! The hotel restaurant was amazing The room was really quiet and fresh
7.1 Good
Pros: Elba is wonderful location for discovering. Average hotel with an above average price. Personal is ok and friendly.
Cons: The hotel's beach can not be used for swimming. Is not clean. Breakfast is just average without fantasy. No vegetables, tomatoes, olives. In Italy is normal ? I think.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: breakfast is plentiful, and dinner is great too. the location is breathtakingly beautiful and very quiet (when the sailing course is taking a break, that is...)
Cons: perhaps the private beach could be a little nearer
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing family atmosphere, wonderful cuisine, perfect location and lovely staff. Loved it!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Above all I liked the perfect location close to the sea and the very friendly and good staff. Also the hotels pools were nice.
Cons: No
5.7 Okay
Pros: Lovely swimming pool which was pretty quiet during the day as everyone seemed to go out on day trips. We had a big balcony at the far side at the top so it was quiet and we had a great view. Nice restaurant but book your table during the day for the evening.
Cons: Last boat from Portoferraio was 6.30pm. There was only one restaurant in Maggazini which belonged to the hotel so no choice but the restaurant was lovely and had great live music one evening. Rooms are very basic so it was expensive for what you got.
4.0 Okay
Cons: the food
7.0 Good
Pros: Very nice staff, gorgeous location, decent to excellent food, clean rooms, value for money, peace and quiet, a pleasant pool with lots of loungers, and some enchanting ducksin the yacht harbour who liked to dine with us - the restaurant is on the quayside. They were all drakes, except for one female who turned up one day with three ducklings. There were also two quite seperate ducks from that lot, a black one and a white one, who were clearly deeply in love, were always together and performed an intricate mating neck waving ritual every now and then. So as well as a lovely setting there were things going on! And then there were the other guests.
Cons: Not really, although maybe thehotel might run the occasional minibus to town should there be punters wanting to use it. Travelling by boat to Portoferraio was terrific, and takes about 30 minutes, but the day the weather stopped it coming (too choppy) presented a problem for non car users like us, But the hotel did take us and others to town in their mini bus so they solved the difficulty. The location is OK during the day for getting to and from, but if you take half board, have lunch, and decide to eat in townin the evening - because there are loads of nice places - getting back means a taxi,....and even a car would not help because one woudl be insane to drink and drive on Elba's roads. The island needs a better bus service actually.
5.2 Okay
Pros: The restaurant was very good (a la carte at least). Very clean rooms. Could have good sea view but we had tree view.
Cons: Very poor children facilities and the beach was unuseable. Car was a must.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was great! We liked it a lot. Especially the stuff was friendly and very helpful. The location is about a few steps by the sea, so we felt the sea breeze with hearing the waves all the time.
Cons: Nothing.
6.4 Good
Pros: Staff were welcoming and helpful. Food was simple but fresh. Sea view was beautiful.
Cons: It was a little chilly at night and the room wasn't heated, or at least I couldn't get the radiators to work. Staff did provide an extra blanket though! Also, not the hotel's fault, but there are no buses and the taxi collectivo is infrequent. Standard taxi costs over 20 euros to Portoferraio from Magazzini and there is no way to walk.
7.2 Good
Pros: Quiet but central location and stunning views - being right by the sea. Reception staff and our waiter exceptional nice.
Cons: The dining room which needed suttle lighting given stunning views and more willingness to allow resident guests to sit outside on the terrace [although we were 'allowed to'].Candles inside and out would give perfection to the setting. Maitre d could be friendlier.Perhaps a proper Bar with sitting area would have been good.
6.8 Good
Pros: Position was excellent.
Cons:

5.8 Okay
Pros: Location is everything, right? The hotel is located perfectly and the view of the bay from the pool and the villa is beautiful. The hours before dinner (8pm) are best spent on the terrace of the villa with a drink from the bar. The staff is very friendly and relaxed, but the hierarchy around the dinner table is old fashioned and it was very frustratring some times for us with small children.
Cons: Hotel Villa Ottone boasts with 5 stars when you enter the property. Spending a week at the hotel, you have to wonder exactly when in time these 5 stars was achieved? The location is wonderful, but the hotel was built in the 80s and the 90s and the rooms are not up to date. We traveled with small kids (3 yrs and 6 months) and between 3pm and 8pm the two restaurants was closed and you couldn't buy any food at all, which was very annoying. There is no shop at the hotel, and compared to many other hotels they don't even offer complimentary water bottles in your room. The playground at the premise was dusty and dirty, the swings and toys where broken. It was depressing. The main restaurant has a nice selection of food and felt very generous with free salad and dessert buffet. But the service is very old fashioned and the hierarchy among the staff is affecting the customer. A more modern hotel is user-centered, the person who shows you to the table is also the person who can take care of everything else. But at Otttone, there was one person showing you to the table. Another one came just to ask about water, then a third person came to ask about wine. Then wait 20 minutes before a fourth person took orders for food. It was a service stuck in the 80s. Having that said, the hotel has a faded, nostalgic charm to it as well. The staff is friendly and charming. The crowd is mostly 55+ and it feels like there are many guests returning year after year. Having a coffee and a croissant after a swim in the salt water pool makes you forget everything else. Will we return? Probably. But the management should make Ottone a more modern an convincing hotel experience.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was perfect.
Cons: We were travelling with an infant so the evening meal times were a little inconvenient for us.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: First of all I want to say what a great host Valerio was, always with a smile and eager to share information. Anytime we had a question he had the answer and did this with much enthusiasm! Thank you Valerio! Great breakfast and the Anericano Bar was the best!
Cons: Unfortunately people from the free beach were sneaking into the hotel property pool for a swim, this is not right.
4.5 Okay
Pros: Location and Bar
Cons: Offered a ridiculously small room, then moved to a tired and dirty room that was marginally bigger. NOT 5 Star - maybe 3.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Great place, nice but expensive restaurant. Amazing sea view from our room, beach, tennis, pool, table tennis.
Cons: Really need a car to get anywhere - hire from the port to avoid paying for a taxi on top.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property was quaint and full of character but with the right amount of luxury. The staff were so smiley and great to deal with. The free breakfast exceeded expectations. The sunset was breathtaking. Beach chairs could be reserved. 10-15 min drive into town made this s good location for us.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It's gorgeous but you have to pay for it
4.2 Okay
Cons: Overpriced. Uncomfortable. 3 star at best. Cheap room furniture. Ruined the end of our honeymoon.
7.5 Good
Pros: The staff and the food. Charming hotel with beautiful rooms for drinks and food.
Cons: Maintenance in the garden, and in the Hotel. Expect more stuff in the bath room like body lotion, conditioner in small bottles.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Ideally located, surrounding by nature, very calm with a astonishing view on sea over Portoferraio. It is perfect if you fancy a break from city life and if you have young children. Having a drink at night at the bar watching the sunset with Jazzy-lounge music is a must. The staff is globally friendly and caring.
Cons: A bit of desorganisation sometimes. Car was booked through the concierge by email but could not find our booking. One of the restaurant of the hotel was booked one evening but the manager could find us...

7.5 Good
Pros: They let us stay longer the day we checked out and we could have a relaxing breakfast. It was located right next to a beautiful square with cafés and restaurantes and next to the sea.
Cons: It could've been cleaner.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Location was brilliant, just a few metres walk to beach, shops restaurants. The welcome was lovely and the staff member who assisted during our stay us was very helpful and friendly.
Cons: Our room was located at the back of the building and was very poorly maintained. Bathrooms fittings were falling off the wall. The kitchenette cupboard was falling apart and the cutlery in the cupboard was very dirty. This was not a surprise as there was no dishwashing liquid or cloths. There was also no soap in the shower / bathroom and when we asked the cleaner for some she pointed us to the small bottles of hair shampoo. The receptionist did bring soap when we asked her.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location. Clean. Equipped with a small kitchen. Shower was great. Good a/c
Cons: Studio room could cost a little but less Then what is charged. But it is summertime. Can be a little bit noisy in the evening because it’s near other houses and on the Main Street
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Close to all amenities... clean and comfortable
Cons: Early morning bin and bottle collection at 6am
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very central. Welcoming owners.
Cons: Nothing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very comfy queen bed, very clean big room. Gianmarco, the owner, was very friendly and laid back. It is very good value for money.
Cons: Excellent central location made it a bit noisy in high season.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: This is a very good location - really near the beach and all amenities. Marciana Marina is a lovely town with some great restaurants quite a few of which we tried! A very cool room with excellent airconditioning. Friendly host on the premises.
Cons: This room has no natural light, only in the bathroom and so you have to have the lights on all the time. This is because it is in an interior courtyard. Not really anywhere to hang a lot of wet things.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Quiet in the middle of the woods with a nice view that you can enjoy at the hotel‘s restaurant or pool. You def. need a car however. The staff was also very nice and the room lovely and clean.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff, particularly Jessica, were so helpful and understanding when we shortened our stay. They also shuttled us to town twice to help out. Great location and views if you are visiting the island and have a vehicle.
Cons: Its rather far from town and if you dont have a car the taxi fares are genuinely obscene for a mere 5kms. The public transport is very infrequent and cannot be relied upon.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Decent size but with friendly staff. Family run. Good facilities.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The location of the hotel is beautiful, there is a sea view and there is peace and quiet. The cleanliness was taken care of in the room. Portoferraio is a 5-minute drive away.
Cons: Breakfast was rich but uneventful, the same menus were set daily. At our departure in the morning there was no opportunity to get lunchbox or coffee even though I asked for it the day before. The room was running water from the air-conditioning. A septic tank stinks in the car parking lot.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very friendly and helpful even ironed some of my clothes as I forgot my travel iron The location was great The view fantastic The pool area was great The room was cleaned daily and fresh towels also provided daily
Cons: The shuttle service to the town was not available until late June so we had to hire a car as taxis up and down were 15 Euro’s each way working out quiet expensive on a 7 night stay! We did walk down into Portoferraio once or twice but it took well over an hour on a busy road!! No footpath! The hairdryer provided was useless! And the hotel bar was closed at 11pm which when on holiday is a little early!

4.2 Okay
Pros: La vue , l’emplacement
Cons: - you only for the view otherwise everything else is expensive . Depends on the season but the hotel is far from everything . Taxi will cost 25 euros to go to the nearest village and 25 euros to go back to the hotel . Super expensive . No supermarket near . Since it’s far you have to eat dinner at the hotels restaurant which is additional 25 euros . The hotel director super super super RUDE . He doesn’t speak English so he doesn’t welcom you or ask you if you are ok . I asked just for an aspirin or a vitamin he laughed at me . If you speak Italian he might say hello to you . The girls at the reception and the restaurant were nice and helpful . I asked for a large double bed ,they gave me twin beds so you finish your night in the middle of the bed almost falling . The house keeper don’t think about if you are sleeping at 8 am or on vacation ,they move all the furnitures in the other rooms to clean so they wake you up. Food has nothing special so since there is no supermarket next to the hotel you have to pay double for everything . No even free water to welcome you . In October ,There is a bus, but only at 9 am or at 2 pm so if you have to come back to the hotel add 25 euros for the taxi . Anyways better to stay somewhere else . Not really worth the money . If you are not athletic there is a private beach but 200 steps to go down and up . So basically not going back to that hotel . There are so much better hôtels in the island .
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great little hotel, comfortable room with terrace onto garden overlooking the sea, perfect for a glass of proseco late in the afternoon. Staff was great, friendly and professional. Breakfast buffet was fantastic. Set menu in the evening was really good. We stayed an extra 2 nights, so much we loved it. Great base for touring the highland.
Cons: No wi fi in the room only on common areas.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great view. Friendly staff. Really clean.
Cons: All good except that with a small kid (<2y in our case), it might not be the most convenient hotel (quite some stairs, away from main facilities...). But perfect place otherwise.
7.5 Good
Pros: The private beach beside the property is really nice and not too far to walk. The views from the patio are also stunning.
Cons: My husband woke up the first morning to find ants all over his pillow. We complained and the problem was solved very quickly. I also think there should be a sign on the fridge explaining that there is a charge for the water. The water in the taps was too salty to drink and we assumed this was why there was free water in the fridge. We were surprised to be charged for it at check out and would have purchased water at the grocery store (at a much cheaper price) had we known.
7.9 Good
Pros: Setting...... view from superior room..... outside space space/beach
Cons: Coffee and organisation of breakfast buffet

Cons: Amazing location with the fantastic view and charming personnel, perfect sevice.
