A very well thought out hostel. Clearly get it. (USB ports next to bed etc)
They did pump out very loud not very good music which you could clearly here in bed until midnight
Good area within the walled city and close to good restaurants. The one helpful front desk guy that helped me get a taxi last minute was kind and helpful.
This is difficult because it is connected with my bae experience of Cartagena overall. This city is full of prostitutes and people heckling you on the streets and made me feel very annoyed. There was a rain storm, and the design of the private room area had no or poor drainage system and thus water flooded my room. This happened while on a day trip. I get back and half my clothes are gone. The maids noticed the flooding and took my clothes to wash. However did not leave a note at all. I thought my clothes were stolen and freaked out. They can’t just take peoples clothes and not notify the guest. While I presented my concerns to the front desk, they acted like it was no big deal. They told me to wait 2 hours for them to wash and dry. I had no clothes to where and had to sit there and wait. While waiting the power went out in the city for 1.5 hours. And you guessed it, my clothes were in the washer and didn’t get dry. They gave me back wet clothes. They did not compensate nor apologize for this inconvenience. On another note of asking about times the hostel would go out to nearby clubs, the staff seemed uninterested in offering clear times... be here around 10 to 11:30 and see. That’s not very helpful, especially since the private room areas are on in another building and I wouldn’t notice when a group was leaving. I would recommend a hotel or another hostel.
Friendly staff, nice atmosphere
Room is very basic, but you don't need more either. Luckily it's very clean.
The breakfast was great and plentiful. The location of these hostels (the private rooms are in a separate building) are great in the middle of the old city center. The happy hour drink specials are great! The air conditioning worked great!
I definitely expected more of a "social/party" vibe when I booked the hostel - and it didn't really exist. They do host salsa and dance instruction nights, but the turnout was pretty poor and the bar closes at 12:00AM. It would be great if they helped to organize party boats, bar crawls, etc. but I didn't find that to be the case. I also paid ~$75/night for a room with no hot water and poor water pressure, which was really upsetting. I don't think that the double room with the private bathroom was worth the cost.
