Many of the main beaches are reachable with a car, meaning you can just hop into a rental car and tour the coastline, stopping at as many paradisiac destinations as you please – including the popular Canasvieiras, Ingleses, and Barra da Lagoa.

Ordered a Mid size 5 person SUV in which the website listed a Duster or similar. I get there and they gave me a VW TERA. With a 1.0 motor. Spoken with the agent at the time and they said it was the category that the agency had put my request. Contacted Expedia and the didn’t help at all. No customer service. I cancelled my other two reservations and rented direct with Localiza for the next 90 days. Mid size SUV with them is a Honda HRV 1.5. What a difference! I will never use Movida again and Expedia either.

We didn't know the island had been flooded because of a flash rain storm; we just thought we were stuck in traffic for 3 hours because of an accident. It had already been 20 hours we were on a bus to get to our destination and google maps said just another 2 hours to go, so we decided to quickly book a car. But less than 30 minutes later we realized we didn't have an international license as we are foreigners traveling in Brazil so can not drive the car legally. My friend said to cancel which I did right away, but the reservation redirected me to multiple other sites and one of them said you can only get refund if you cancel 6 hours ahead; we didn't even have that time possibility! Shouldn't the sites mention that before booking?? Anyhow, the live chat agent said she would try her best to call the agency to get refund and that i would get an email response from them in 24 hours; I never got response 3 days later when the agency knew there was a flood on the island of florinapolis in Brazil! We actually got there 8 hours later then we were suppose to and there was no way to get to the car rental location with the flood. Lesson learned : don't trust these multi site car rental agencies, especially overseas.

Insurance experience was awful. I was crashed by other car, I payed the most expensive insurance and they do not answer to a simple crash. The pick up experience was super slow and the model of the car pretty basic.
