Apparently when you book at an airport your pay extra “convenience” fees. At least that’s what the attendant told me when my reservation went from $177 to $245 at pick up.

Check EVERYTHING. Even things you wouldn’t think to check. Tire pressure, oil, cruise function, a/c, charging port, car play function, etc.
DaynaApr 2024
The shuttle goes to all rental car locations and only is 5 minutes away. I would recommend that you make sure you have a car reserved in advance because there did mot appear to be staff at any of the agencies.

Watch your speed. It’s 60 mph on highway through the city. Avoid getting a speeding ticket. At pickup, prepare to present identification(license), credit card/debit card, and social security number.

I was informed to call a few days ahead of time to confirm (read: Remind) reservation details.

KAYAK’s top tips for renting a car in Oklahoma City
Gain ultimate flexibility and rent a car upon your arrival in Oklahoma City. Don’t rely on public transport schedules and delayed trains when you can explore the city and its surroundings conveniently on your own four wheels. The recreational Lake Thunderbird State Park, for instance, is 30 miles from the city and only a 35-minute drive away.
If you come to Oklahoma by plane and land at Will Rogers World Airport, only 11 miles separate you from the city center. Conveniently, the airport sports its own rental car center, so a vehicle can be picked up easily upon arrival. The rental center is located north of the terminal and courtesy shuttle buses bring travelers to and from it. Companies like Alamo, Avis, and Enterprise are there to provide vehicles for all tastes.
Driving in Oklahoma City is comparable to many other US cities and quite an enjoyable undertaking. Road conditions are not pristine in some places, so driving defensively and slowing down can be helpful. It is also important to note that Oklahoma drivers have a reputation for being quite impatient, especially during rush hour.
Traffic congestion is not as bad in Oklahoma as in other cities like Boston or LA; yet, if possible, try to avoid driving through the city between 7-9 in the morning and 5-7 in the evening. Most affected are the I-235 and I-44, as they narrow down into two lanes, making wait times of up to an hour. Make sure to plan well in advance, especially when going to the airport, and check the current traffic situation before leaving the accommodation.
Getting rental cars is the best way to explore Oklahoma’s numerous picturesque natural attractions. However, there are driving laws to keep in mind as you navigate within and outside the city’s streets. For instance, the law requires you to drive on the right side of the road unless overtaking. Do not exceed the recommended speed limit of 70 mph on state highways and 25 mph in residential and business districts. For security purposes, always ensure you have your safety belts on. If the car has no seatbelts, ensure that no kid under three years is using the vehicle.
From modern museums to international art galleries and luxurious gardens, your trip will be full of pleasant surprises in this beautiful city. Oklahoma has numerous awe-inspiring attractions such as Philbrook Museum of Art, Science Museum Oklahoma, Oklahoma City Zoo, and others. Having a compact car for such destinations will be a perfect idea. The car is fuel-efficient, thus helping you save money to cut across the Oklahoma suburbs. Roads become increasingly narrow as you head towards the outskirts. A compact has a small design making it less daunting to pull in and out of parking spots. Consider renting an SUV from Oklahoma City to some of its suburbs such as Newcastle, Purcell, Turtle, and Yukon. SUVs have larger, higher-powered engines, thus making them perfect for dealing with rough suburban terrain.
Whether a native or a foreigner in Oklahoma City, you must possess a legit driver’s license issued by your government. The license must have your photograph. You will not be allowed to continue using Oklahoma car rentals if your license expires during the period that the rental car will be in your possession. You must also have a credit card that bears your name. When collecting the car keys, the card should be presented at the rental counter. You have limited car classes to choose from if you are below 21 years—for example, economy and compact cars. Also, expect to pay some additional charges if you are below 21 years. It is crucial to confirm with your car rental company whether other documentation is required.

At pickup, the girl was very nice, but the guy was a real jerk. He was very arrogant and wouldn’t even look at my phone when I tried to show them I booked a small SUV. He bullied the nice lady into giving me a Kia K4 when my email reservation clearly stated “compact SUV.” This guy has no business being in customer service.

I got a car I did not want which was a electric car it was dirty it was not filled up I was told to bring it back on 50% and above I don’t hold a charge as a real car I spent 3 times more filling it up if you never drove one you might want to do your research cause they really suck rented it from 9 to 5 then I get charged 2 hundred and something dollars for returning it before 8 in the morning it was raining pretty hard and I can not drive that way plus I had to find a charge station then I one I found took so long to charge it I took my chances on coming back to the City then I put no tolls on my phone and it put me on a toll booth so I decided to keep it for the rest of the day so I can get back safe cause of the rain so no I don’t think the price or the way I was treated was fair and now they maxed out my credit card they suck I will never use them again

Overall good experience. The car had obviously not been cleaned (crumbs in seat and exterior dirty), but it wasn't terrible. It just needs to at least be wiped down.

No one was available when I arrived and even though I checked in online and indicated a pickup time the car was not ready. Because the charging station at my hotel was not in service I asked to get an non electric vehicle instead. Instead of paying less I was actually charged more. No one was there when I returned my vehicle so i had to just leave the keys. Even though I dropped it off 5 hours earlier I was still charged extra. Extremely disappointed!!!
I could not rent a car because they did not accept my Brazilian driver's license. I went there at the Thrift and was badly treated by the attendant, and have no car. It is amazing that I received this without even renting the vehicle.

The car was new and clean and full of gas. The transaction was fast and easy. I’ll rent from them again.
Car trouble gave us only 30 minutes to rent a car to meet our travel deadlines. In 66 years of life I have never rented a vehicle (!!) and I was nervous. Roland, the first to greet me at the OKC Airport Enterprise desk walked me through it and calmed me down. We made it to our out of town event on time! Thanks Enterprise and your great employees! Georgie and Sally!

Made Reservation online, with all Fees and Taxes was told I would have to pay $177. Got there to pick it up and they were trying to charge me $240. Ended up showing them the receipt from reservation and they would only go down to $202 on it. Felt taken advantage of and they weren’t willing to fix it or even try.

The first vehicle I rented had problems with the transmission. I called Enterprise and they had me go to another location where they traded my car out. I was very satisfied with the new vehicle. A couple of hours after getting the new vehicle, I realized that we left the remote control for our garage in the first vehicle. I immediately called the Enterprise where I originally rented the car and explained what happened. They have not found my remote as of today, April 12, 2024. I do not understand why they can't trace the original car and find my remote. Other than trying to find my remote, I was very pleased with the service from Enterprise.

Pros:
Fairly efficient check out and check in, convenient location.
Cons:
The car smelled of cigarette smoke. I could tell the rental company had cleaned it, but that smell can't be taken out. It was an unpleasant experience.

Pros:
Under the circumstances, the staff was quite accommodating. When I arrived for pick-up, there was not a car available and the staff could not give me a time frame for when I would be getting a car. I mentioned that I had to be in Wichita, KS (from OKC) by 4pm (It was a little after 11AM). When a car became available, it was at the airport location and still needed to be cleaned up and driven to the I-240 location. Instead of making me wait, a staff person drove me over to the airport to the car so I would not have to wait longer than necessary for someone to bring it to me. This was really helpful and I appreciated it.
Cons:
Obviously, a car waiting for me when I arrived at my scheduled pick up time would have been ideal, but it worked out and, again, the staff was handled it well.
