The flight was delayed for over an hour while they tried to find a crew for the flight. The flight crew that eventually showed up were friendly and did a good job. However, getting in at 1:00AM meant that the airport was mostly closed when we arrived.

Cons: "Background info: we flew from Dublin to Toronto (Aer Lingus) and we were supposed to fly Toronto to Los Angeles on American Airlines; however, we had a British Airways flight number for both of these flights. We missed our connecting flight in Toronto with American Airlines (we had a 2 hour layover) despite landing on-time (de-boarded a few minutes late). I suggest avoiding the Toronto airport ALWAYS as every passenger must pick up his/her luggage even if you have a connecting flight, and then re-check the baggage with the next flight. Apparently the baggage handlers were on strike and some of the customs agents as well which added to the delays. Well, after going through Canadian customs and picking up our luggage (which took quite awhile) we arrived at the American Airlines ticketing kiosk about 45 minutes before our flight. The computer told us we were too late for this flight and to see a representative. We proceeded to wait in line for an American Airlines representative only to be told this was Aer Lingus' fault (we had just flown with them); even though we had a BA flight number.. After searching for an Aer Lingus representative we were finally told they were probably all on the Aer Lingus flight that was currently about to leave. An Aer Lingus representative was paged to the ticketing counter (took well over 30 minutes for anyone to show up) and what proceeded was an argument (for well over an hour) between British Airways and Aer Lingus representatives about whose responsibility it was to re-book us. After an hour at least of poor customer service, we were finally rebooked by British Airways on the last flight to LAX (on Air Canada). Moral of the story: avoid Toronto and fly direct."

Flying on the older 767-300ER also has more shoulder and leg room than some of Air Canada's newer configurations for the 787 and 777."

On American Airlines and United Flight attendants make announcements over the PA to (a) step out of the aisle to let people pass, and (b) place larger suitcases in the overhead and smaller bags under the seat. That way they try to ensure there is enough bin space to accommodate everyone. Passengers on Air Canada stuff everything in to the overhead bin and nothing under their seat, leaving little for those boarding after and delaying the flight because flight attendants are looking for bin space. If they were more pro-active, it would speed things up."

Cons: "The seats recline so far that the headrest screen ended up way too close to comfortably watch movies or effectively use the tray. The people in front of my wife and I kept their seats fully reclined, even during the meals, and it was very uncomfortable. One of the meals had a pepper sauce that had such a strong smell that I was nauseous until the end of the flight. While the chicken meal I ate was fine, there wasn't much chicken at all."

Cons: "Firstly I will start with the lack of service we provided when trying to get seats together after checking in online. We rang and were told to try at the airport counter. Then at the airport counter we were told to try at the gate and then at the gate when I went to ask I was told to go get both tickets before they told us that there was no 2 seats together anyway rather than looking first. All whilst explaining this was our honeymoon and we would really like to sit together as husband and wife. Then once we boarded the guy sitting next to me was happy to swap seats with my wife as he had back problems and had asked for an aisle seat but was denied. Finally we are underway and I find that my entertainment touch screen doesn't work so even though it is one i can't select anything to watch. Plus to top it off the seat arm rest was broken. Obviously with a fairly full flight with no 2 seats together their wasn't much that could be done immediately but where is the maintenance and actual physical plane quality? Do your engineers or staff not check things? Overall dispite this being our national carrier I am ashamed to claim that. Many of our overseas visitors for the wedding from Australia and Europe also had similar complaints."

Flight attendants were friendly and helpful. Airplane interior open and bright. Bathrooms clean and well supplied."
Cons: "Customer's time is valuable too! Air Canada website check-in malfunctioning causes anger, frustration and chaos at home and continues through airport check-in. HUNDREDS of angry, frustrated customers paid for their tickets, tried to check-in online and arrived early all converged into one CHAOTIC crowd. ADDRESS these issues, FIX YOUR WEBSITE, TREAT YOUR HARDWORKING, PAYING CUSTOMERS with DIGNITY and RESPECT they DESERVE. Competing Airlines are waiting for your dissatisfied customers."
Pros: "Friendly staff all the way through. Offered lots of non-alcoholic drinks. Small delay at departure in Vancouver, but on-time departure from Newark. As return flight was not fully booked, change of seats was possible and instead of being 3 in a row, we were only 2. Overall, good experience"
Cons: "One of the worst overall flight experiences. Flight attendants ignored assistance light, no entertainment ( only option was paying for an ipad), and blankets had to be paid for!!. Flight was so booked that we were late taking off. Poor flight attendants were obviously understaffed. Will avoid this airline when possible"

Cons: "Staff did not come often enough with water. Not as many snacks as I have gotten on Korean Airlines and Japan Airlines. Definitely better than American Airlines or United Airlines flights which are the worse example of how to provide excellent food and service. Short time allowance for flights connections since most flights from Chicago start off late. Look to carriers such as Luftansa, Jordan Air, Turkish Air as the right way to do things."

Cons: "Flight attendants could be more aware of his/her surroundings. For example, I was either stepped on (as a result, being woken up) or my backpack was stepped on several times when an attendant was walking down the aisle, and neither of those things were sticking out into the aisle. This has rarely happened to me on trans-Pacific flights (more crowded, longer flights) so I can only attribute it to the carelessness of the attendants and/or the aisle width but since I think aisle width follows international standards it's more likely the former."

Our plane ticket costs an exorbitant amount, AND we are forced to pay for our meals....service would be the very minimum that we could expect.... ALSO: Although there was no charge for baggage on our flight out, and nothing written anywhere about a baggage charge, yet on the return flight we were hit with a $90 baggage fee!! The flight was already too expensive but that was just adding insult to injury"

I had no option to select seats, and when we boarded I was seated on the last row by the galley with no reclining seats and the florescent lights were on nearly the whole time on a 10 hour overnight flight. There are no seat back TVs and the free streaming service went down repeatedly just like the AC outlet at our seats (there are only two of these for three people). I booked this trip nearly a year in advance, and I am extremely disappointed that I wasn't informed that I was flying a budget airline on a 10 hour flight."
