If you want to pay using a debit card, you'll need to get approval from the car rental agency prior to your arrival. When you use a debit card, you could be limited to the type of car that you can rent. Also, the rental car agent will still need a credit card for a hold. So how does it work? It is simple. A deposit or hold will be placed on your credit card temporarily and the agent will deduct the total amount of the car rental from your debit account when the car rental period is complete.
