Pretty crappy. Website is TERRIBLE. Paid for skip-the-line; arrived at airport and via the app was told to skip the line. I skipped the line, went downstairs to get the car; next instructions on app were to "go see an agent." Now we go back up and the line (that I was supposed to skip) is now much longer than if I hadn't skipped it to begin with. Thanks for nothing, Dollar. Next I finally get to agent and I'm told there are no cars, I need to wait. Okay, I say, just make sure I don't get charged for skip-the-line. "Oh, that's not us," says the agent, who is wearing a Dollar-branded shirt at the Dollar rental counter. "You need to bring that up with Dollar." Whatever. I rented a car for the price of 520$. When we arrived at the counter, due to some sort of bank problems, my credit card didn't work. The solutions given by the employee, was to pay for an extra driver at the rate of 15$ a day (making a total of 75$) and use a different credit card to pay the total. We accept this condition and a total of 387.71$ was payed at the counter because the indian thieve working at ORD airport add some type of insurance that we said SEVERAL TIMES we didn't want. The scammer told us the money would be returned to us as soon as we get the car back but of course it didn't happen. This is pure scamming! A company this size doesn't need this kind of publicity but I'll make sure I'll write everywhere I can about this unless my money is returned! I pay for the car, I pay for the extra driver but I want the money of a service I DIDN'T ASKED back. Disgraceful!Reviewed 28 Jul 2026

I will never do business with Kayak or Dollar again! This was a total disaster. My rental confirmation said SAN (off-airport shuttle) with an address in San Diego. What it did not say is the address was 20 miles away and there would be no shuttle transportation to or from the pickup and drop off destination!!! I was on my own both ways, and, as it turned out at an extra expense of $180!!! In addition when I did pick the car up I was charged an extra $66 for a 'transit fee' that was not listed on my confirmation. The ordeal cost me time and money, was a violation of the implied contract with Kayak and Dollar, and completely misleading in the terms of that contract. I have rented many cars in many cities. There have often been from off-airport locations with a shuttle provided. NEVER has the location been miles and miles away with no actual transportation provided from the airport to the pick-up location!Reviewed 27 Jul 2026

At the moment of the reservation the information I received was that I had to show my drivers license and the credit card used for the reservation. When I arrived at the store (6 months pregnant, with a 1,5 year old daughter after a 16h long journey, with large luggage) the employee did not want to conclude the rental process due to the lack of an international drivers license. Me and my husband researched on all Dollar policies available online and none of them stated this as mandatory. The attendant was totally inflexible and refused to conclude the reservation. Luckyly I was able to find a website that issued the international drivers license instantly, but it was a very stressful experience. For improvements I recommend either to make a clearer list of documents needed for rental, or clarify with the employees what is mandatory and what is not.Reviewed 21 Jul 2026
