Had to wait in line for two hours to get the car due to Hertz management and operational failures. Cars were not cleaned as they were delivered to the location by Hertz late (typically Hertz drops off the night before, but in this case they were dropped off the same morning). Further, only two employees were working when typical staff is 3-4 people (the manager stated that they knew they had over 40 reservations to fill that morning). Apparently Hertz management fired two people at the location earlier in the week without having substitute staff ready. Despite having booked two weeks in advance (and having pre-paid) my ordered car type was not available. The manager at the location refused any sort of compensation for Hertz's multiple failures on management and operational levels. Syrupy sweet words do not cover mismanagement and the cost in time that I incurred. Enterprise has been a better outfit on every occasion. It is no accident that the stock is near all-time lows, they have serious problems at Hertz.

They did not have cars available even though I reserved and prepaid for 3 days. No call to alert and I only found out once I arrived to pick. Was unable to take my father to his covid shot as a result. I'm now in the nightmare of trying to get my money back.

Arrived at 4:17pm for my 4:15pm pickup. Line had about 10-12 people in front of me. One person working. At 4:43 there were still 6 people ahead of me. I canceled my reservation and borrowed a friend’s car instead. 30min later and I still wasn’t able to get my rental is unacceptable. It would have taken nearly an hour had I continued to wait.

The drop off at Midway was very confusing. Directions were very unclear. And there were no luggage trolleys available which made unloading the car extremely difficult.

Cons:

The car smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. I was in a hurry, and the attendant walked away after giving me the keys, so I didn't have time to find someone to see if I could exchange the car. However, the smell was so strong we had to drive with the windows down the entire 4 hour trip.

Compact

Waited a full hour in a line in a dark, dirty car garage to pick up rental. Definitely the worst pick-up experience ever and will avoid at all costs in the future.

Pick-up truck

It was clear vehicles are not cleaned or evaluated for road worthiness between rentals. First vehicle I rented had such a bad cigarette smell it was unbearable to sit in the vehicle. They had tried to put in air fresheners in the vehicle, but that only made the smell worse. In addition there was paint pen writing on all the windows, not sure the reason behind this. I had to ask the attendant to remove the paint on the windows otherwise it would have been unsafe to drive. I requested a vehicle change because this one was unsatisfactory. They didn't have any other vehicles in stock so I had to go to another location to change the vehicle for a new one. Once I drove 45 mins and picked up the second vehicle that new one immediately had issues. One of the tires had a slow leak and it cause met to have to stop 3 times to refill the tire on my way to my destination. Again this vehicle was unclean as well. One of the seats was covered in syrup. Overall a poor experience and I will not be renting from them again.

Got there and they didn’t have CARS! Not just didn’t have the car I had “reserved”. They had NO CARS AT ALL. So it completely threw a wrench at all my plans because I could get anything, had to scramble to try to make it on time to my friend’s wedding in PA (didn’t make it on time). Overall TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. The lady from the office there didn’t seem to care not even a little. Didn’t provide options, call other offices to see if someone else had a car, nothing. I will of course never be trying to rent there again and maybe recommend this to somebody I really despise.

Supplier choice

The location was easy to get to. The price was great. The car had just been washed when I picked it up- there was still water dripping from it. I was not warned about the extra deposit at pickup but it was refunded the day I returned the car.

Pros:

The staff was very nice and got me a car that was clean and comfortable. They explained what was included and what was additional with patience and clarity. They were also very friendly.

Cons:

The car's oil change indicator was triggered when I picked up the car. The car's tank was also only filled halfway upon pickup. I expected the tank to be full when I picked up the car, so that was very disappointing.

Pros:

The staff in BK was incredible, the car was excellent (and larger than what I thought I paid for, which was really helpful)

Cons:

When I arrived there was an issue with the scanner; my name didn't pop up when I returned the car, and as a result I had to wait around while they figured it out, but no one ever explained the issue to me.
