It was a beautiful place!
The river location was nice. Also liked that we weren't in downtown Fairbanks. RV park laundry facilities were convenient as was the buffet breakfast, with a continental option. King bed room was large and bed was comfortable. Nearby restaurant (on-site with river view) was very good. And we could walk to Fred Meyers for groceries. Small refrigerator in room.
The Lodge, where we stayed, has 8 rooms. While the rooms look upgraded, the rest of the Lodge looks like an assisted living facility, with very old, stained furniture. Even though it was cool outside (second week in September), the upstairs room was very hot, even with the windows open. One window wouldn't stay open. On arrival (around 8:30PM after taking the 4PM train from Denali), we saw that there were lots of cabins, with river views. Per the wedsite photos, it wasn't clear that the cabins, and RV park, are the main lodgings for this resort. When we asked if we could switch to a river front cabin, we were told "No, you booked a king room". Walking around the next day, we saw lots of vacant river front cabins. We wished we had pushed for a cabin. But beware that many of the cabins are near a busy highyway, that was under construction our entire stay. We arrived at the end of the season; the "resort" closed the day that we left. The photos on the website, showing lots of flowers, didn't look anything like the nearly vacant resort we encountered. The staff seemed eager to shut-down. When I asked about doing laundry at the RV park, which was the best feature of the place, lots of trees and large lots for parking, a staff member told me, in no uncertain terms, that she was locking the door at 6PM, and even if I cried and begged, she wouldn't unlock the door. She didn't even listen when I said I was going to do my laundry in the morning. If you like a large breakfast, the buffet was very good, but a little expensive. We ate breakfast one morning, then purchased food at Fred Meyers. Also, beware that Fairbanks pushes a shuttle service that is a little less expensive than Lyft or Uber, but we found Lyft to be faster and more efficient. We took the shuttle to the Running Reindeer Ranch (FANTASTIC!); the driver to the ranch was great, but the driver that picked us up took a detour, in the dark, to the shuttle depot.
I liked the vintage feel. They are full service with a shuttle to the airport 24 hours a day!
The bed was super comfy i appreciate the flexable non hassel check in
Good hotel nicely located near Chena river. Free shuttle from and to the airport. Probably the best *** hotel in Fairbanks.
Can always be better, but we didn't expect more.
