Pros: We enjoyed staying in the heritage part of the hotel. It really did feel like going back in time. The suite was very comfortable with everything you'd expect from a hotel of this level. The staff in front of house were extremely helpful.
Cons: The pool in the heritage section was closed for our entire stay. However the pool at the victory wing was pleasant and not too far to walk. The gym in the heritage section has little in the way of cardio equipment but again, there is a full range in the gym in the other section.

Cons: Checkin was a pain in the a$$. Took 30 minutes- at first the said "we don't have your reservation." Annoying after flying for 15 hours. I showed my confirmation, and the receptionist was still puzzled. I had to call the travel agency I booked through online, who then called the hotel to see what the heck was going on. The front desk staff was polite but unhelpful. Eventually they said it was a "computer error" and manually made a new reservation for me. Sucked waiting 30 minutes in the lobby without a room waiting to checkin. Felt like a criminal in timeout. No apology,

Pros: Beautifully done hotel with modern European finishes and classy black/charcoal wood trim made it beautiful. Tall ceilings made the room feel huge. Nothing but excellent recommendations on the room. The roof top pool was great with an amazing view from the pool bar.
Cons: I would open up a section of the bushes by the pool to allow an area where you can overlook the city. I think the intention was to keep it private but the view is awesome.

Pros: I left my ipad in the room and 1 hour later i got a call from the hotel front desk. While i was having difficulties in turning back to the hotel, the staff offer me courier service to send me my ipad back. While i was preparing to pay, and found out the cost was bear by the Hotel! i was touched by the professionalism of Hard Rock Penang by putting their customer at the top priority. Thank you Hard Rock, i will surely back again!

Cons: I specifically asked for breakfast boxes as I have to leave really early the next morning to catch my flight. And it's quite a long way from the hotel to the airport I have low blood sugar I have to eat. Lady at the transportstion counter promised she would reserve two boxes for me. The next day When I asked for them the receptionist simply shrugged and told us he didn't receive such request. So I told him I requested and I hope something would be done at the time, he responded with an expression that he doesn't care at all and would not want to do anything about it. It was such an disappointment. I can't believe I stayed in this hotel which my friend recommended and had such an unpleasant experience. I would not choose hardrock ever again.

Pros: Location. Near night market, lots of restaurants,and services. The laundry and taxi service across the street are great, and do a good job for a fair price.
Cons: Internet WiFi was very very bad. Off and on all day and night. Very frustrating. They were a bit skimpy on the soap. Didn’t refill after shower gel ran out after 2nd day - despite leaving a tip for the maid. My room was old, but huge; and price was fair for the location. Reception staff seemed tired and in bad moods.

Pros: The staff were helpful. When I checked in the room I was given had a strong smell of bleach emanating from the bathroom. I requested a room change and was immediately moved to another room. I also accidentally locked myself out once and reception provided me a new key card free of charge to once again access my room. This is a nice hotel that is quite central and close to the touristy part of Georgetown as well as the Esplanade in the north. Breakfast was quite a spread.
Cons: The room was unusually large! There was an open space in there that could have fitted an entire queen bed. That was very, very unusual. The bathroom was a bit dated too (but clean) and lacked any form of a working air vent as far as I could tell.
