Top tips for finding cheap flights to Malaysia

  • Enter your preferred departure airport and travel dates into the search form above to unlock the latest Malaysia flight deals.
  • The bulk of travelers from Canada land at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL), which operates as Malaysia's principal entry point. If you wish to visit more of Malaysia's well-known and modern cities, like Kuala Lumpur, Sepang, Seremban, and Kajang, the KUL Airport is the best site to consider landing at.
  • Even though there are scheduled flights to Penang International Airport (PEN) and Kota Kinabalu International Airport (BKI) from Canada-based airports, the great majority of business passengers choose to fly into KUL Airport. Given its closeness to Kuala Lumpur City, which serves as the nation's capital and is the location of the majority of Malaysia's corporate offices, KUL Airport is a favorite airport for people travelling on business.
  • About 60 km separate Kuala Lumpur Airport from the city centre. Travel options from KUL Airport to the city centre include the KLIA Express, Skybus, taxi, and private automobile transfer. Based on the route, the available modes of transportation, and traffic, it can take anywhere from 35 minutes to an hour and fifteen minutes to get to the city centre from the airport.
  • Before you land in Malaysia, you will need to fill out an Immigration Card. You will be required to give this card to an Immigration Officer upon arrival, along with your passport. If you plan to travel between Sabah and Sarawak, you will need a passport and valid travel documentation.
  • At the beginning of February, Malaysians celebrate the Chinese New Year. Due to these festivities, you can expect increased travel costs and limited ticket availability. Consider booking flights to Malaysia later in the month.
  • If you want to visit Borneo, you should fly into the Malaysian state of Sabah. Kota Kinabalu International Airport (BKI) services this area and is 8 km southwest of Sabah’s city centre. From Canada, you can book a flight with a layover in the U.S.A., China or South Korea. Alternatively, you can fly into Brunei International Airport (BWN), which is just across the border from Borneo.
  • If you are hoping to travel to the Batu Caves in Selangor, book a flight into Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL). Just over a 1h drive away from the airport, the limestone caves are only 23min from the centre of Kuala Lumpur.
  • To be well positioned for exploring the eastern areas of Malaysia, book a flight into Kuching International Airport (KCH) which services the region of Sarawak. From the airport, the Bako National Park is just a 39min drive away.
  • If you want to visit the west of Malaysia, you will need to book a domestic flight from Kuala Lumpur International Airport or Penang International Airport (PEN) to Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Airport (KUA) in Kuantan.
  • If you want to visit the south of Malaysia, fly into Senai International Airport (JHB) in Johor. In addition to being close to the border of Singapore, this airport is less than 30min away from LEGOLAND Malaysia.

Lots of legroom for a small flight. There was in flight entertainment even though it is a short duration. We waited on one passenger to board for a long time after everyone else was on.

Easy if you are a United States Citizen, when you go to US Border & Customs, bring your Passport if you arrive Internationally. Remember to pick up your check baggage before moving into domestic flights, as they will check the tag for the plane you are boarding in. (They will check your baggage again). Bring your ID/DL (Real-ID COMPLIANT) with you to pass security/TSA, passport works too. SFO is pretty strict as well as LAX. Domestic flight, 1hr 20mins from SFO to LAX, which takes about probably 40-30mins on air.

At Fukuoka, check in counter stuff was no experience , took long time and took out our preserved sheets to change to emergency exit seats without asking. The flight was late and we missed the flight to go back to SF. My luggage was broken. I had a terrible experience.

Boarding was quick and efficient. The food was very good and they had pictures showing you what options there were to avoid misunderstandings.

As my first experience in business class it was a great trip considering how long the flight is and how hard it usually is to sleep in economy

Boarding was fast and efficient. Not a cramped plane and good comfort. Food was great and attendants were very nice.

Chair was broken. Crew was awesome. Food was eh. Dinner food not so good the sandwich was good ( for airplane food) headphones hurt my ears. It’s hard because no one has plug in earphones

Fast boarding. Cabin temperature was a bit warm, but I guess this is the standard in ANA. The Room seats are spacious, but not long enough for me.

The cabin temperature is warmer than I expected and there’s no other way for me to control the temperature. It’s centrally controlled so it’s consistent for everybody. There’s no air flow that I could direct to me if I’m hot. I also noticed people wearing sleeveless shirt. I’m not the only one who noticed that the temp is warm. In a crowded plane, temp should be a little colder, not warm. People can use sweater or use blankets. When it’s warm, there’s no other way to cool down. All 3 ANA planes that I’ve had this trip were all the same. It’s warm. It gets a little claustrophobic if there’s no air flowing or the temp is warm

Traveling with family should be sitted together. On our connecting flight we were all scattered.

Airline itself is great. While food was being taken off of my tray my beer spilled which was a total accident and I wasn’t upset about that, what was frustrating was I had to ask for towels to clean up and wipe my leg. It would have been left as is if I hadn’t.

Bars and restaurants in Taipei close early. The lounge isn’t very good, but better than the public areas.

The food was the only thing that could have made the experience even better. Everything was stellar but the food. The staff was superb. I’ve been flying with ANA for years as my go-to and I think I may have found my new favorite. 😍

Short lay over. Seat assignment was terrible. Was traveling as a family and end up being seated separately. Will not use underpricer ever again.

Not many selections for entertainment. Bulk head seats are no longer available with out fee at the counter. That’s pretty lame.

All of the staff were very helpful, polite I was very satisfied with China Airlines The food was normal for airlines but I’m sure they could do better

Everything was efficient. Good leg room. Food was good. Staff were friendly.

I would have liked to know how to order a special meal (for medical purposes) before the flight.

Staff very friendly and helpful Everything was clean and most important on time Unfortunately let down by the quality of the food Would be very happy to use them again

The flight who provided services on my row had some not-nice attitude and not smiling at all.

Temperature in plane in both segments was warm. Otherwise, great experience

6 hour delay for connecting flight in Istanbul, no real information or support, spend night in lounge which was extremely noisy due to construction works.

First was canceled no compensation second day was delayed Worst airline I have ever seen

It was a good experience, it was just the the connecting flight after that was a problem.

Boarding via busess, like low cost airline. In their domestic hub. Insane!

Business class in Turkish airlines is like none other. They separate themselves and highly recommend it

Pretty good. I’m currently in Accra but my luggage is still in turkey so that’s inconvenient

Flight crew was very nice and we had a direct flight, which was great. My seat was very cramped, despite paying for the seats. The food was terrible and the check in process was a bit chaotic.

I took a nine-hour flight in economy class, and the seats were quite comfortable. I even managed to take a long nap, which rarely happens. There was a good selection of movies, and the complimentary kit included socks, ear plugs, a sleep mask, lip balm, and a toothbrush with toothpaste.

Although we had booked seats months in advance, we arrived at the airport with only three seat assignments for our group of eleven because we had not checked in online and the airline had overbooked the flight. The rest of us had to fly standby, which was a pretty tense situation for a while. Ultimately, we were all very grateful to be on the same flight from Istanbul to Izmir.

The plane used to go to Chicago was a bit outdated and needed a refresh

My connecting gate in .Chicago was across the aisle from my arriving gate. Otherwise I would not have made my connection. So that was very fortunate.

I flew basic economy, so it was what I expected. Crew was nice though, and flight was quick. Would recommend for flights under 6 hours, otherwise would upgrade to something with more leg room.

Bad, they delayed my flight, lost my connection flight had to stay overnight for the next flight and missed a lot of important meetings. 1 day totally lost!

Airline staff was good the checkin process was ok but the plane itself was very bad the comfort was worst it was worst and the most stiff 5 hours of my life i felt claustrophobic

Everything got delayed we were supposed to land at 1pm and landes at 8-9 pm … was horrible

Calgary desperately needs a star alliance lounge in the transborder area for United.

Brutal as can be … delayed by 24 hours then delayed and hour on the tarmac then delayed three hours in Chicago, screaming child behind me kicking the seat for the better part of 10 hours… couldn’t be worse

My flight was delayed by a whole day, so I lost a day of my vacation.

The check-in and passport submission was complicated and repetitive, due to the poor communication between Air Canada and United. There should have been a single set of instructions and a single questionnaire that provided the data for both airlines.

Gate changed twice, boarding late. However, there was more than usual leg room. Crew was fine. No entertainment due to computer problem.

Could have a somewhat larger snacks. Appreciate the free wine.

Excellent and friendly service. Interesting snacks and free wine and beer are pluses.

The way in which the zones are lines up causes confusion the sign says zone 1, zone 2, zone 3-6. All the people in zones 3-6 line up and then the zones are called individually this causes confusion and there must be a better way to do this, other than that the flight crew, the plane and everything else was perfect.

I don’t think the on-board testing worked on any of the 4 Air Canada flights for this trip. And in this particular flight, the entertainment and WiFi was out for a portion of the journey.

Delays were reported timely. The waiting area was a joke, it was caious the loading was delayed and not reported clearly. Their was disgruntled passengers. The personel tried their best but the organization failed the customer and the present personnel. There was no planning causing poor exicusion.

Seat change. New seat 5 rows back from our group. Flight ok but we had to wait for half an hour after we landed for the gate.

Purchased through Kayak at +/-$960.00 and was charged +/-$1,300.00 on Amex. Prepurcahed one bag, was not recognized by Air Canada

There were no premium headphones available for purchase on my flight and I had to settle for regular ones which were just okay but, not the best

It was only direct flight from YVR to YKA but has no entertainment or food service and was double price of Westjet. Air Canada is my last choice but in this case, they are the only option.
