Top tips for finding cheap flights to Malaysia

  • Book at least 1 week before departure in order to get a below-average price.
  • High season is considered to be January, November and December. The cheapest month to fly from Canada is September.
  • Enter your preferred departure airport and travel dates into the search form above to unlock the latest Malaysia flight deals.
  • The bulk of travelers from Canada land at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL), which operates as Malaysia's principal entry point. If you wish to visit more of Malaysia's well-known and modern cities, like Kuala Lumpur, Sepang, Seremban, and Kajang, the KUL Airport is the best site to consider landing at.
  • Even though there are scheduled flights to Penang International Airport (PEN) and Kota Kinabalu International Airport (BKI) from Canada-based airports, the great majority of business passengers choose to fly into KUL Airport. Given its closeness to Kuala Lumpur City, which serves as the nation's capital and is the location of the majority of Malaysia's corporate offices, KUL Airport is a favorite airport for people travelling on business.
  • About 60 km separate Kuala Lumpur Airport from the city centre. Travel options from KUL Airport to the city centre include the KLIA Express, Skybus, taxi, and private automobile transfer. Based on the route, the available modes of transportation, and traffic, it can take anywhere from 35 minutes to an hour and fifteen minutes to get to the city centre from the airport.

  • At the beginning of February, Malaysians celebrate the Chinese New Year. Due to these festivities, you can expect increased travel costs and limited ticket availability. Consider booking flights to Malaysia later in the month.
  • If you want to visit Borneo, you should fly into the Malaysian state of Sabah. Kota Kinabalu International Airport (BKI) services this area and is 8 km southwest of Sabah’s city centre. From Canada, you can book a flight with a layover in the U.S.A., China or South Korea. Alternatively, you can fly into Brunei International Airport (BWN), which is just across the border from Borneo.
  • If you are hoping to travel to the Batu Caves in Selangor, book a flight into Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL). Just over a 1h drive away from the airport, the limestone caves are only 23min from the centre of Kuala Lumpur.
  • To be well positioned for exploring the eastern areas of Malaysia, book a flight into Kuching International Airport (KCH) which services the region of Sarawak. From the airport, the Bako National Park is just a 39min drive away.
  • If you want to visit the west of Malaysia, you will need to book a domestic flight from Kuala Lumpur International Airport or Penang International Airport (PEN) to Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Airport (KUA) in Kuantan.

The airplane very small , no space for put my carry on , they tell me loads my carry on I thought they will load my carry only Seattle to San Francisco but when I get off airplane at San Francisco they just tell me load my bags from Seattle to Bangkok Why they don’t tell me before load . I told them I don’t want load my bag from Seattle to Bangkok , because my carry on had medicine. Why crew from Seattle don’t help me , they only told my go to tell luggage claim Delta

Check-in was somewhat chaotic because some passengers didn’t read the instructions and they just them to cut the line because they were unclear of the where to go.

Pros: "Comfortable flight with a nice crew. An overall good experience."
Cons: "After arriving, the waiting time for receiving a VISA was quite long for people staying longer than the regular 3 months."
Cons: "During 14 hour flight, meals were served at the beginning and at the end which comes to 10 hours in between. Between the two meals, they offered a snack of banana or brownie. My wife and I were starving. Terrible!"

Japan and China airlines were incredible. On board service was impeccable. All the flight attendants were helpful, friendly, and always smiling. Airplanes were very clean. The boarding crew was extremely accommodating and very nice as well. Overall I was extremely impressed.

Pros: "Seat was broken would not lock in upright position. Seat entertainment screen was also malfunctioning in the on position."
Pros: "Everything was great. The crew was nice and the food was pretty good."
Cons: "Everything was great."
Pros: "The seat is very comfotable. But on the fright from Japan to Bangkok very upset me and my husband. We sat seperated, but on the plane we saw 2 seats available, I asked woman crew that can we move to that seats. She went to talk with the guy who sat on the aisle seat. I heard he said he reserved"
Cons: "The seat beside him for his friend. And the crew said to me she so sorry I couldn't move to sit with my husband. But later no body beside him and he lay down 3 seats all the way. And the crew do nothing for us. We very dissapointed."
Cons: "On time is always nice. Overbooked someone in my seat when boarding. On arrival sat for a while to get into the gate on a flight that was already 90 minutes late"
Pros: "The food and the crew were great."
Cons: "I am yet to find an airline that has any semblance of comfort in economy class for someone 6’ 2”, and that isn’t even tall! It would seem that the seats should be tall enough not to have the headrest push on my shoulders.....such as making it adjustable enough to be used as a headrest."
Pros: "The crew was fantastic and the food was very nice."
Cons: "It really would have been nice to have a vegetarian option!"
Pros: "Zero"
Cons: "Asked specifically at the ticketing counter not to be seated in a non-emergency row. Were seated in an emergency row. For a 12 hour flight with seats that don't recline and nothing the on-board staff could do about the ticket counter's negligence and bad faith other than apologize. Seated upright for an overnight flight (for the second time on the same trip) for 12 hours. Not a pleasant experience. Had a feeling ANA would be bush league. This trip confirmed those suspicions. It wasn't the crew's fault (though they, unfortunately bore the brunt of my displeasure) so much as the counter's fault, but airlines charging what they are shouldn't be putting passengers or crew in this position. The ticket counter folks literally mislead us. They specifically told us that these were not emergency row seats and that we would have reclining seats and seatback displays in front of us like everyone else. The entire reason I asked is because we got stuck in the last row on the way in with seats that don't recline, which blows for a 12 hour red-eye flight. Instead we got seats that did not recline and a fold out screen that came from the right-hand arm rest. Not the end of the world if one had no choice, but certainly not what I paid for and certainly not what the ticketing counter people stated we were getting (under specific inquiry about the very point). The ticketing counter in particular seems to be skeevy, at best. To the detriment of their own crew, who is left apologizing for things they can do nothing about. As stated, this is a bush league international carrier. Avoid unless you love sleepless nights crossing the international dateline..."
Pros: "ANA's staff were professional and helpful. They will do their very best to accommodate your request within reason, very satisfied how they handled our issue."
Cons: "We made our reservations through kayak / justfly.com and paid an additional fee to reserve our preferred seating assignment. During check in, our seat reservations were not granted because justfly.com did convey our preferences."
Pros: "Had the katsudon and it was great, love the little tapas dishes they include with it."
Cons: "Would have loved to get a hot towel and slippers. 787 got quite cold when sitting in the middle section. Didn’t seem to have any way to control it."

I enjoyed the flight it was long but very friendly crew

The flight was on time. Boarding process was smooth. The crew was friendly, helpful, and they kept plane facility clean. The food could've been better.

Pros: "Eva does a nice job keeping you fed and happy!"
Cons: "If you are a big guy, tall or broad or both, you should absolutely get either an exit row or upgrade to plus. This is an airline made for smaller folks from Asia."
Pros: "The crew was fantastic"
Cons: "I was very uncomfortable in my seat. I purchased a seat with more leg room but didn’t know that exit seats don’t have the same width as other seats so my hips were in the seat tight. I wish I would’ve known this before I bought the extra legroom."
Pros: "Crew was very nice. What I like to say is the ramp and bus boarding in lax is awful also the site arranging the trip should give us right away the choice of seats .. For me that’s very important"
Cons: "Choice of seats when purchasing the airline tickets"
Pros: "Flight perfectly on time. Crew not too friendly (Chinese style), but attentive and helpful."
Cons: "On this B777-300, the large Economy Premium is not quite up to the standard of other airlines flying the same model. The tray table, stored in the arm-rest on all rows, is tiny, and opens only a few inches, not enough for pregnant women or gentlemen with some mid-section padding. I could not use it at all, and had to balance my meals on my knees. Besides, when the passenger in front reclines his/her seat, the seat invades totally the space of the passenger in the back. I felt the passenger was resting on my lap. Forget using a laptop, or even reading a book: just watch your screen, a couple inches from your nose. Good for short-sighted people only! I tried EVA and was disappointed. I'll go back to my preferred airline, Vietnam Airlines."
Pros: "Eva does a great job, nice personnel, good food...probably better than most."
Cons: "More leg room. (My usual complaint,) Premium Economy Very Nice, but at a premium price. I flew once...nice to be offered a glass of Champagne once seated!"
Pros: "The quality of the ground handling is very good and the attitude is friendly! Handling things quickly"
Cons: "Children's meals can be changed a little more, then the amount is a little less!"
Cons: "A better selection of movies and a bit more legroom."
Pros: "The crew members were good but the seat is small with not much of leg room. Foods were suck & not appearing"
Cons: "Good appearing & tasty foods with better snacks"

Flight was delay almost 2 hours from Hong Kong to Taipei. Last minute gate change from 24 to 66. Long way walk. We need to run in the Taipei airport to catch our next flight from Taipei to Vancouver. That is so suck!

Overall, it was a good flight. I was comfortable, that TV screen was large. It’s just the food wasn’t that great.

Pros: "The food was great and the service was good as well."
Cons: "They did not give us instant noodle when we asked for it and the seats in Economy did not have foot rest in front like Singapore Airline."
Pros: "Service was very good"
Cons: "Chairs in business class in A 330 were not too good in my view"
Pros: "Good movie selection, nice attendants"
Cons: "The 2nd meal was tasteless and didn’t have the ingredient as the name suggested, a Chinese pickled veggie"
Pros: "Quite comfortable, met my expectations and I slept well. On board team were friendly and helpful."
Cons: "Lounge in TPE is awful! Over crowded, noisy and a mess. I wouldn’t fly CI again just from the lounge experience."
Cons: "Airplane use to fly from Taipei to Ho Chi Minh old and dirty."
Pros: "The plane was late coming in but the staff only detained us 30 minutes which we made up flying to Sfo"
Cons: "Rather cramped quarters for such a long flight."
Pros: "Prompt and customer-oriented service. Thank you to counter staff for arranging the seat change. I thought I had confirmed the seating during web-checkin but was told that there was no history of confirming the seats in the system."
Cons: "A change of snack for to and fro journey would be good."
Pros: "Friendliness, courteousness & hospitslity of the entire crew."
Cons: "I did not understsnd the reason for the delay. It did not bother me though."
