Formerly the Castle Mokihana, the ISO is located in Kapaa on the east coast of Kauai, offering seaside accommodations in an all-new boutique hotel. There are a number of amenities and activities available to guests at this 78-room hotel, including a 24-hour front desk that can assist with all guest needs, including sightseeing recommendations and tour planning. The hotel features oceanfront views and free on site parking for guests, along with an on site bar and lounge. The hotel provides complimentary WiFi throughout the property, complimentary bicycles for exploring the island, daily breakfast, and an on site restaurant that features nightly live entertainment.

All 78 guest rooms include air conditioning and ceiling fans, as well as upgraded bathrooms and modern accommodations. Flat-screen TVs with cable or satellite are included, as are private balconies or patios. Other amenities include coffee makers and mini-fridges or kitchenettes. Upgraded suites offer additional living and sleeping space, better views of the ocean and surrounding island, and deluxe amenities and accommodations. This boutique hotel also features an oceanfront pool and picnic areas.

Guests of the ISO hotel can visit the Koloa Rum Company for tours and tastings, or explore Kauai with Kauai Backcountry Adventures. There is plenty of hiking, biking, and water activities to enjoy in the surrounding areas, as well. The seaside Wailua Municipal Golf Course is nearby for golfing on the ocean. Our room was newly renovated, so it seems. Lampshades were all rusted. Anything with brass was rusted. The split unit in the room kept the room cool, but did nothing with the humidity. 2nd time I’ve stayed at The ISO. I was disappointed to take a shower, the water pressure was not great, experienced luke warm water every time. The towels were very worn/used, seams undone and unraveling. The pillows were uncomfortable/flat. I also found it weird that they only have 1 wine opener for the entire property. Cons (-) I was honestly really disappointed with our stay at Castle Mokihana. It was old and really dirty. My "clean bed" had someone's else's long hair in it and I also found a bug in it which was disgusting. There was no working air conditioning so that made the week we stayed there way too long. The Wi-Fi was terrible and there's no tv. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, it's not worth the money...

Pros (+) checkin after hours was easy. Beds (twin only) were comfortable. Towels good. Quiet, except for waves lapping on the seashore. Clean. Inexpensive.

Pros (+) great view, front desk was great, however, there was hair on the bed, blankets were stained, carpet was stained bathroom not to bad, I did not feel comfortable to sleep.
