Pros: The staff were wonderful.

Cons: Close to road and was occasionally noisy
6.8 Good
Pros: We liked the location to the beach, and the value for the room. There are restaurants and shopping nearby.
Cons: It took a long time to get luke warm water for the shower, the rooms are small, but you can't beat the value of the rooms.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The personable service of the staff and the location near a swimming beach and some good restaurants. The nice touch of having coffee, fruit, small snacks and candy treats throughout the day. They also have towels, beach chairs and other accessories for the beach available for no cost.Twice during the week the owner made a delicious sweet potato pie with fruit on top. If you're looking for a small boutique inn and not a major change give Garden Island Inn a serious look.

3.1 Mediocre
Pros: The grounds fronting the ocean were nice but the wild chickens were a nuisance.
Cons: The Economy room was terrible. The balcony fronted on to an alley with 2 big garbage dumpster in it right below our balcony. The shower curtain rod was rusting away. The carpeting was dirty. There were no chairs to use in the room and only one bedside table.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: I like our ocean view room, but because it was literally right next to the elevator it was classified as the garden room to offset any noises from the elevator. However, we did not hear any noises even though we are light sleepers. The room was clean, unlimited towels was nice. The calm ocean beach front was excellent, as well as the amazing pool which was opened until 10 pm! The bar was nice too! The king crab buffet was ok for $53, we enjoyed it. Best it was centrally located to both north, south , east and west of island. I had an amazing stay and did not want to leave.
Cons: I wish the bar and pool Would open until 11or midnight. The room Services sucks, really expensive for the food you get. Definitely not worth the money. We ordered peppercorn steak $40 and roasted vegetable salad $15? , and porguese soup, all was below average. I hope it was because its 10 pm at night that's why food service was awful, but what's the point of room service if the food is gross regardless of time ordered.
4.0 Okay
Pros: Location, beautiful island
Cons: We were tricked into a room with a Murphy bed. Super uncomfortable. Also"ocean view" room was a view of a wall

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful, clean, great staff, beautiful resort
Cons: Can’t think of anything.
9.7 Excellent
Pros: Excellent staff. Shawn was our night greeter and after a long day of airport travel he was very helpful.
8.5 Excellent
Pros: So many pool options
Cons: Non swimable oceanfront
9.4 Excellent
Pros: Amazing location, beautiful driveway to the Resort. We had an amazing time there, we stayed 3 night. A lot of good things to visit are close by but you will need a car. Prices are a little all over the place but Spa for example is cheaper than neighboring resorts. Overall very good value, clean nice rooms, clean pools and clean resort overall.
Cons: Some buildings need some reno. Lot of rust on buildings and the ones that are “renovated” they just simply painted over rust with white paint. As I mentioned prices are all over. Food is very expensive and its mediocre, the shop is also very expensive. Funny thing is Grand Hyatt is a much more expensive place to stay (we are staying here 4 night after Kauai beach resort) yet food is about the same or cheaper (but its much better) same with the shop. Also room smelled like the A/C hasnt been cleaned in a long time and it also did not work that well.
6.5 Good
Cons: The resort appears to be concerned about vacationers stealing from the hotel. Towels must be checked in and out with a towel card. Failure to turn in a towel card at the end of the stay will result in a $20 fee per card. Our iron was attached to the ironing board via a short cord. This made it very difficult to use. I assume the cord was to prevent me from taking the iron home? This is the first time I've run into issues over towels and irons. Otherwise the resort was okay.
9.1 Excellent
Pros: Great location. Nice staff. Good value for price!
Cons: Beach not suitable for swimming.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The pool area is awesome. Several selections for food and cocktails. Free valet available. Daily room service. Lobby is beautiful. We were very happy with the resort.
Cons: The additional resort fees added to your bill at the end. Most of the resorts have it but it was still disappointing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Pool Staff dining Conceire Location
Cons: Not electronic friendly rooms (plugs/USB) Parents not supervising their children around pool and grounds
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We absolutely loved our stay here. The staff were very nice the grounds are completely beautiful and the pools are the nicest we've seen anywhere!
5.1 Okay
Pros: They got us a room fast
Cons: At the end of our stay, we waited for the shuttle. When we had waited the appropriate amount of time, we asked again about the shuttle not being there. They told us the roads were closed due to a car accident and the shuttle was stuck in traffic. We asked about another shuttle possibly being sent out with us and the other couple waiting for the same thing. They told us the wouldn't send another one out because they assumed both sides of the road were closed. They told us our best bet was to start walking. It was 3.5 miles to the airport! When we walked out to the main Street, we realized the traffic was only stopped on one side of the road, and the other side was open for traffic that way (towards the airport!). They just didn't want to bother sending another shuttle out! Horrible customer service! About 1.5 miles into our walk, a nice man stopped and let us ride with him. Would not recommend this place due to this incident.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: On the beach, two hot tubs, a fantastic pool slide, elegant waterfalls, good poolside service, concierge proficient, location nearby Lihue and minutes from Kapaa. Restaurant and facilities were beautiful and comfortable.
Cons: Not quite clean in room
5.7 Okay
Cons: Air conditioning didn't work in room all the time wouldn't change our room

8.8 Excellent
Pros: We needed one extra night between timeshares. We were able to stay here, which is where our 2nd week is! The staff were so friendly and accmodating to our situation. We were able to stay in the “hotel” room until our timeshare room was ready. It was just a few doors away, and in the pouring rain, it made moving so much easier. It’s an older facility, but very clean and the location is awesome!
Cons: No elevators.

9.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is beautiful, staff is helpful and friendly. It’s near to everything, food, adventure, beaches, golf. The pool is beautiful and wasn’t ever overly crowded. The oasis is a great place to have a drink and some dinner.
Cons: I know it’s a condo but if you’re there for over a week, it seems like there should be clean towels and sheets after a week. I didn’t mind the resort and cleaning fee but would have appreciated a change just once after a week.
1.0 Poor
Pros: Decent room
Cons: Not operated like a hotel. Mandatory exorbitant cleaning fee, yet no housekeeping service included (available at even more outrageous pricing). Daily resort fees. The one restaurant is understaffed, overpriced mediocre food. Pool areas dirty and crowded.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Would highly recommend!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful, great mattresses, good coffee, very nice view, swimming pool that is unbelievable.
Cons: Main restuarant is beautiful but food is middle of the road.
7.0 Good
Pros: Great beach access
Cons: More room amenities

6.5 Good
Pros: The comfort of the beds.
Cons: The jackhammer outside our bedroom.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We liked to sit by the beach on the tables on the new restaurant.fridge toaster and microwave was provided and was great so we could have early breakfast and leave to hiking. The rest was basic don't expect fancy drill. The renovation is almost finish sonwe got lucky the new restaurant is going to change things big time
6.0 Good
Pros: It is an ocean front property. It has 2 swimming pools. Lots of parking. Convenient location.
Cons: Renovating, uncomfortable bed. No microwave in room.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great pool, nice beach, live music every night, nice gas firepit, walking distance to many restaurants, cool vibe.
Cons: We have stayed here twice ...this time we had only one small issue...the shower in our room would not maintain a constant temperature...from very cold to scalding.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Bar and beach was #LITFAM
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Even with the renovations the hotel still held on to it's old time charm. The staff were accommodating, the bed was very comfortable and the handicapped bathroom was a super plus. Mahalo
Cons: Breakfast was overpriced. Papaya wasn't ripe. Not enough butter and syrup to cover the very large pancakes, but the people working there were very helpful.
6.0 Good
Pros: Overall, it was adequate. It was quiet, comfortable, and i got some excellent rest.
Cons: Floor in the bathroom wasnt swept which made me wonder what else was missed.
4.8 Okay
Pros: The restaurant is really good, it's close to many locations, beach is walking distance, wristband electronic roomkey, check out is later than most hotels,
Cons: Rooms need major remodel (very outdated), Parking lot is a terrible one-way to the main lobby, beach towels at front lobby only not in the rooms, they charge $15 a day for cleaning fees, our room had many small ants, trying to get back on the main highway can be irritating due to the construction near the hotel,
4.5 Okay
Pros: I like the continental breakfast.
Cons: Not more parking space & there's no shortcut at the back if you happened to park at the very end of the parking lot! They should open the concrete fence on the shoreline side in case of emergency / tsunami. Residents can have an easy access to the back side to go back & forth to their car if they will open the concrete fence especially in case of emergency. Aloha!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Close to beach, beach towel rental
9.7 Excellent
Pros: Just about everything.
Cons: The person at the front desk who asked me "and who are we?", after asking for a beach towel. Very inappropriate dialogue for someone in the hospitality industry. Aside from this insulting experience, the stay was quite nice.
6.0 Good
Pros: Room was comfortable except for the wooden bed platforms that have sharp corners.
Cons: Parking was terrible and minimal. Had to walk quite a bit to get to the room from parking lot. Not easy to find the main office.

Aston Islander on the Beach - Kapaa - Building
8.4 Excellent (1,300 reviews)
C$ 277+
Overview Reviews
Let the sounds of the ocean rock you to sleep every night at this intimate, low-rise beachfront hotel. Located on Kauai’s Coconut Coast, Aston Islander on the Beach is set amid six acres of beautifully landscaped gardens and swaying palm trees. Both contemporary and nostalgic, Aston Islander on the Beach features thatched huts, hand-carved furnishings and plantation-style décor. The beachfront pool area offers barbecue areas, a large, sparkling pool, jet spa and a poolside bar.
6.0 Good
Pros: Fairly large room with distant ocean view.
Cons: Slow check in process, $50 resort fee for one night were we used no resort services. Horribly parking situation.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Location and convenience
Cons: Room air freshener was over powering and gave me a migraine.
9.4 Excellent
Pros: It is a beautiful facility - clean and well maintained. I chose it because the beach right next to the pool and right up to the bar. The hotel is nice as it is split into separate buildings. We were given an upgrade to an ocean view room. Each room has it's own lanai.
Cons: The lanais could be nicer - the old air conditioner unit on it was not so nice, and there was no thermostat in the room so we had to climb on top of the couch to turn it on and off.. Would be great if they had a continental breakfast or muffins or something and not just coffee (though it was great and I'm a coffee snob) in the morning.
8.5 Excellent
Pros: Great hotel. Excellent location. Spend the extra money for an ocean view. Would stay here again definitely. Loved it!
6.5 Good
Pros: Cleanliness of buildings and the yard as well as rooms. Pool-side bar.
Cons: There isn't enough parking for all of the guest units - finding parking was always frustrating when returning to the resort at night. The reservation I made through kayak was somewhat misleading because I purchased the ocean view room (as opposed to the partial ocean view room) assuming that it would be a unit on the ocean front but I guess there was another category that wasn't listed at the time. I thought I was getting an ocean front room but got a room that I would consider more of a partial ocean view - looking onto the pool instead. There was an additional almost $20 daily resort fee that included wifi and a few other things but seemed to be an outrageous additional cost.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Great value for the money, since they are all studio/hotel rooms, rooms are good for 1-2 people. Beach front and centrally located within walking distance to several restaurants a plus! Current construction makes for a disturbing experience during daily work hours.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very nice and helpful. Close to shopping center and restauraunts. Nice grounds with variety of rooms. Pool with bar and live music. Room had refridgerator, coffee maker, microwave, and dishes - enough for basic meals for breakfast etc. the balconies were nice and people were mostly friendly.
Cons: I had a room with adjoining double doors. The doors allowed a lot of noise to pass through. I had extremely rude neighbors who kept the neighbors on all sides awake and security was called by other neighbors multiple times. I didn't get the impression that this was the norm for this hotel. I've stayed here before and not had any other problems. Multiple days of this trouble did however make my trip less than relaxing.

5.1 Okay
Pros: Cheap
Cons: You get what you pay for
8.5 Excellent
Pros: Works great for the budget traveller. No frills but plenty comfy. Bring ear plugs no matter where you stay on the island as the wild chickens are really loud.

Cons: A lot of traffic around the area
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Good location, clean room. Friendly staff.
Cons: Facilities/building in some disrepair but they were doing construction so hopefully that will be remedied

8.0 Excellent
Pros: ocean front, view of sunrise, good value.
Cons: twin beds, prefer a king bed.
4.0 Okay
Cons: I was honestly really disappointed with our stay at Castle Mokihana. It was old and really dirty. My "clean bed" had someone's else's long hair in it and I also found a bug in it which was disgusting. There was no working air conditioning so that made the week we stayed there way too long. The Wi-Fi was terrible and there's no tv. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, it's not worth the money,
2.0 Mediocre
Pros: The hotel was on beach. That was the only redeeming quality.
Cons: There were too many things wrong to list them all. In short, this hotel has seen better days. If you are looking for a step above camping out this would be place for you.
7.7 Good
Pros: The view is amazing. Price is very good. Updated bathroom in my room was a big plus.
Cons: Rooms are clean but very old and worn out.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: No tv but it made it a nice escape View Everything
Cons: No stove or microwave. Slow wifi

Pros: Stay there last year When it was Aston owned, now it's a Hilton and renovated it's went from 2** to a 4**** .. Rooms are way nicer and clean ..
Cons: The room I had, had a fly problem .. First night had at least 20 flies called front desk in the morning came back that night but still had a bunch of flies still flying around .. Other then that the stay at the Hilton garden in was good .. I'd go back !.!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was large and exceptionally clean. Enjoyed the private verandah off our room with beautiful plantings creating privacy. Lovely pool area and continental breakfast. Staff were very attentive and because our room was ready, they were kind enough to let us in much earlier. They have SPECIAL SPECIAL rates for all of Kauau's activities. You'll enjoy this boutique hotel. We'll certainly be back.
Cons: Towels for pool were too small and worn. Fluffy towels are good.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very unique, quaint hotel. Clean room, very friendly staff. It was nice that there were washers/dryers on site for laundry
Cons: Slightly off the beaten path, if you care about that (I don't). A/C unit was very loud. I had to shut it off, because it kept waking me up
6.8 Good
Pros: Room was nicely appointed with comfortable bed. Parking was very convenient and the young man who checked us in was very nice.
Cons: AC was so loud that it was impossible to get a good night sleep, even the neighbors AC could be heard in our room. A little better cleaning wouldn't hurt either. My wife dropped an earring and found quite a bit of dust and a sock under the bed.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Room was very clean.
Cons: Decor was dated and rooms are showing their age, but everything was in working order.
9.1 Excellent
Pros: Low key relaxed setting in lush gardens. This old style Kauai hotel has air conditioning, large flat screen TV, good shower, local pets to entertain you, continental breakfast and very accommodating staff. We stayed for one night but could have stayed longer.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful, quiet surroundings, friendly staff.
Cons: Need a car to get places
6.6 Good
Pros: Mid point from all the attractions.
Cons: Outdated decor and roosters crowing at all times of day. The coffee and complimentary breakfast/snacks weren't on time at the stated 7:30am
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was very friendly and helpful. Rooms were spacious and clean. Will stay there again

Pros: staff was helpful and friendly
Cons: nothing
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Easily accessible. Ample parking. Comfortable and quiet
Cons: Ice machine only located in one area.
9.1 Excellent
Pros: Location Price
Cons: Only one bathroom in a unit that could sleep six. Only one car parking permit allowed. No elevator available, had to haul lots of luggage up the steps.
7.1 Good
Pros: Staff was friendly, overall location is convenient to Kapaa, but very close to the main road. Large unit with kitchen and comfortable living room and large bedroom.
Cons: Location is very close to the main road, and you have to run the AC to drown out the road noise. No way to keep the windows open at night due to road noise. Kitchen is fully stocked, but appliances are old. Shower/Tub is pretty dated.
9.1 Excellent
Pros: Clean, comfortable suite in a good location. Close to restaurants and grocery stores. Excellent Wi-Fi and new TVs. This isn't a 5 star stay, but if you are looking for something clean and comfortable this is your place. We received fresh towels and garbage service daily. Staff was very friendly. Lots of parking available for your vehicle.
Cons: An older building, not completed renovated. Our stove looked like it was from the 70s, but everything worked fine. Our unit was located on the second floor which only had access by stairs. These stairs may be troublesome for older travellers. Our A/C was quite noisy so we turned it off at night.

Pros: Booked the resort because we were staying extra days after staying at a condo nearby. I thought it would just be like any other hotel. I was really surprised at how awesome the whole place was.
Cons: No microwave in the room. Would of been nice to reheat left overs from all the places we ate at.

6.0 Good
Pros: Proximity to everything. People were nice. Bed was fairly comfortable. They had coffee in the morning. The landscaping was very well kept up with.
Cons: The back side of the building wasn't very impressive and that is what you see when you drive up. The room was small. Other than that, everything was fine. Parking was a little tight but still sufficient.
6.5 Good
Pros: Location is good. Price is quite cheap.
Cons: There were a lot of ants. The AC was quite old and loud.
9.4 Excellent
Pros: It was so convenient; being in a excellent location. It was very clean and had modest physical replacements to a older quaint hotel. It I is nice to wake up with freshly made coffee in the lobby. Convenient parking. Quiet location for a good nights rest. Great price for modest hotel. Considerate staff
7.0 Good
Pros: The staff were very friendly and room service was available when requested. The price was pretty great as well. A good hotel for someone staying for a few days.
Cons: There was an ant problem in the bathroom, mold on the bathroom ceiling, and my floors appeared as though they haven't been swept in a while. It would have been nice to have breakfast available too.
8.2 Excellent
Pros: I liked how quiet it was for the overall stay.
Cons: I had to wait till 3pm to check in when I stated I would be there before noon.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is on a beautiful stretch of the coconut coast beach. The pool and grounds are nice and well kept. The staff makes this a great hotel. The bartenders and restaurant staff are always very friendly and helpful.
3.7 Mediocre
Cons: The hotel needs a lot of maintenance. Around the pool is dirty and old. They sell some side window rooms as ocean view and actually they are not.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We needed a one night hotel near the airport to match our flight home. This hotel was a pleasant discovery for us for our first stay on the North side of the island. We now want to go back here.
Cons: Nort shore waves were too high to get in the ocean but they were magnificent to watch!
9.1 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful hotel and amenities in a great location. A decent value if it weren't for the resort fee.
Cons: Resort Fee... seemed a bit overkill for what you get. Unfortunately I feel like it is a way for the hotel to get more out of each nights rate. Breakfast buffet was a bit pricey too. Great food but I couldn't eat enough to make it a good value at $22/person.
7.4 Good
Pros: The hotel is in a prime location and priced incredibly well given its location.
Cons: The only compliant I had was the shower. The shower head sprayed right onto the soap dish, it wasn’t designed very well.
9.7 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful location, wonderful ocean view, close to many restaurants, great staff. Nice pool area. Easy drive to several beaches, a bit longer drive to the north coast and to Waimea Canyon. Convenient to river kayaking, and Backcountry Adventures for tubing or zip lining.
Cons: It's on a beautiful beach, but it wasn't swimable. The balcony was very small. The restaurant prices seemed high, even for Hawaii, so we didn't eat there.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The bed is SO comfortable and our room was spacious and clean. The housekeeping staff is excellent, friendly and they take pride in their work!
Cons: The hotel is under renovations which will make it an even better place to stay. Because I was there on business i would not have used the pool anyway. I did appreciate that the work on the hotel did NOT negatively affect my time there at all.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beach front resort with out the crazy long walk to get any place. Everything is so close. Great staff, so helpful with everything.
Cons: Everything was great
9.1 Excellent
Pros: Great location, very nice rooms, great front desk help and enjoyed the afternoon Mai Tais. We really liked how they offered coolers, chairs, and umbrellas to take to any beach you preferred...very handy. The rooms were very clean. It was in a perfect location for getting to other parts of the island, close to several key beaches, close to restaurants and stores, and decent parking.
Cons: It was hard to spot the hotel and its sign from the road. Also, the halls smelled too much like the "beach" (but didn't impact our room). They don't have Fox Sports 1 channel which was a bit of a pain, but not a huge deal. Overall, a great choice.
8.2 Excellent
Pros: The buffet breakfast was amazing, the Hot Tub warm and comfortable, all the staff were friendly and helpful. The morning sunrise was wonderful, unfortunately it was not safe to go in the ocean.
Cons: Eliminate the demolition work being done during the day or anytime; it interferes with the enjoyment of the courtyard facilities and the restaurants/bar. Discounts should have been offered. Also, it should have been clearly noted that the ocean bathing/swimming was unsafe due to the many rocks and shelves
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great ocean view rooms with nice furniture, linens and a mini fridge. Lots of activities to do each day and complimentary mai tais with the resort package. Keep an eye out for the monk seals who come up to rest right on the resort's beach!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Courtyard by Marriott Kauai at Coconut Beach was gorgeous and the staff was amazing.
Cons: Card slot light did not light up when we unlock the hotel room door. Also, KAYAK dropped the ball in communication with the hotel. All the included items were not communicated to the hotel and we had to pay for it separately. For example, the 2 free mai tai's and free parking we were promised were never passed along by KAYAK.
