Ko Tao Resorts

Pros: This place is heaven, friendliest staff i have ever met, with a focus on the simpler things, aswell as the fancy stuff, turn down service, tea and cake daily etc. Beautifully kept natural property, with all sorts of wildlife that doesn't end up in your villa. A stunning double level pool built around natural boulders, and some of the tastiest finger lickn food on the island. Very clean & located in a peaceful area, though just a short walk from the village & all it has to offer. 10/10..

Cons: There is nothing to not like about this beautiful place.

Pros: We absolutely loved this hotel. Beautiful place, the bungalows are very cosy, the staff is great! Very kind, helpul, delicated and also quite professional. The restaurant’s view is amazing. Good breakfast with european options. We highly recommend it.

Pros: This place is absolutely fantastic. From the minute you arrive to the minute you leave the service, staff, food and accommodation is wonderful. Would recommend to anyone and will 100% be coming back!

Cons: Shower was just cement looked like they didn’t finish construction. A more luxurious bathroom would have fitted with the rest of the feel of the resort.

Pros: When we got to the pier turned right and it was only a short walk to the property. Staff were so friendly and helpful, they even up graded us for our honeymoon which was so kind. The bungalow was awesome with a big deck, and outdoor bed. The property has 2 big pools and its own beach and restaurants. Only a couple of minutes walk to food, massage and shops. Hired a scooter down the road to go exploring and snorkeling. Their own private beach we found was great for snorkeling also. Breakfast was awesome with plenty of vegetarian options. Will 100% be back.

Pros: - nice pools which were completely empty due to time of year. Staff were still attentive despite just us being there - nice log style cabins built into the forest - taxi shuttle to the pier

Cons: - we actually loved this and it isn’t a negative but there is lots of wildlife and you have to walk up some steepish steps to get to the cabins. We saw geckos, lizards, cats, dogs, squirrels and even a tree snake near our cabin

Pros: The room was very confortable with a nice atmosphere and a lot of extra things to use if neeeded.

Cons: The noise of the animals and the position near the road with no phone on the room to call in casw the reception which was 3minutes walking from the room. Unfortunately no tv also.

Pros: - They upgraded to a better room due to my birthday and let us check out at 10 instead 12 - decent enough food and nice pool to cool of although not very clean - snorkeling near by

Cons: Our poor experience is definitely due to the staff, who aren’t warm, personable or curious about you. I think the place is so big, that there aren’t really anyone that has taken ownership over it and has a genuine desire to make your stay here feel special. The resort is overflowing with staff. Still, they get your orders wrong, forget to wrap your leftovers in to take back to your room even though you’ve kindly asked three times, doesn’t clean the pool regularly. I arrived on my birthday, which my boyfriend had made them aware of several days before. They were kind enough to upgrade us, but apart from that we did not get the feeling that we were here to celebrate a special occasion, even though my boyfriend tried his best. Not once did they wish me a happy birthday, it wasn’t even possible to order a small birthday cake for the breakfast table. On the day of our arrival we saw some charming bungalows by the ocean that were vacant. We asked if we perhaps could switch rooms to one of them, they were only 500 baht extra per night than the one we were upgraded to, which we of course were willing to pay. But the receptionist told us that if we wanted one of those room we would have to pay the difference between those and the room we’d originally booked instead of the room they’d upgraded us to, meaning 1.500 baht per night, which just baffled us. They are professional enough to not let your critic go unheard, so when my boyfriend complained about a terrible massage he had had, they scratched it. Still this couldn’t make up for the fact the place lacks of ambiance and warmth. They weren’t even curious to know if we’d enjoyed our stay and had had a good birthday, when we checked out. We’ve had much better treatment at places half the price with facilities the same as here if not better. Frankly, we’re sad that we spent all this money on a place that frustrated us almost from the beginning until the end. For the price you pay you would expect more than the bare minimum.

Pros: Everyone was super nice, greeting you with a smile and willing to help you. The breakfast was delicious, the room was big and the location perfect. I especially enjoyed the cappuccino :). The resort offers tours, which we unfortunately couldn't enjoy because of the weather but we hired a motorbike at the resort and had a wonderful time exploring the island and snorkeling.

Cons: Our bathroom and sink got blocked and it would take an hour for the water to go through. However, we mentioned this at the reception and they fixed it. Thank you!

Pros: A great place to stay at koh tao. The breakfast was amazing, the room very comfortable and clean and the surrounding area was very pleasant. I definitely recommend this place.

Pros: The rooms were like tree houses - our was overlooking the sea. It was beautiful. Having had an awful experience at another hotel locally which we left we chanced upon this hotel, it was perfect. The food was fantastic, the location great. Our holiday was saved from disaster.

Cons: I often don’t write reviews, but this place really deserves one. My experience at this place was terrible, so terrible that I decided to just check out early and go to a different place. The first cabin I was assigned to had a terrible smell of sewers. After complaining I got moved to a bigger cabin only to find out that the air condition wasn’t working at all. Once again I make my way to the reception. They tell me the technician will come and fix. I go for a walk when I’m back they say they will “upgrade” me to deluxe cabin, meaning... same as cabin #1 with a slight view of the ocean. I spent the night here and the bed is as hard as sleeping on the floor (beds in cabin #1 and #2 were fine) After talking to the receptionist for the 3rd time now they say they will solve it. Solution: put 2 comforters in the bed. At this point I packed my bags and left. Location is great but not worth the hassle. Stay away!

Pros: I could say a lot of positives - just try it yourself

Cons: The only what should be improved is breakfast, the worst is cofee (IMHO). Fortunetly we survivaled Some of the waitress have isue with understanding english on a basic level ..... as the effect we didn’t get ordered meal once (Guys are ok). You have to chose one of the sets, but if you dislike it you are in trouble.

Pros: Koh Tao Cabana probably is one of the fanciest, yet affordable resorts at Sairee Beach. The villa was beautiful, the bed super comfortable and the outdoor bathroom very lovely. Since we had a sea view villa, the view obviously was amazing. The staff clearly takes pride in keeping everything super clean and tidy, and clean it is. This was the 3rd time I stayed here, and I will again for sure.

Cons: Not really a downside, but keep in mind that you'll have to walk a little from your villa to the beach and the village centre. Not super far, but a walk nevertheless.

Pros: Amazing quirky rooms we stayed in 3 different room while we were in Koh Tao and they were all beautiful!!! Thank you to all the staff who were super helpful x

Cons: These complaints about the breakfast, hot water and the smell - you’re on an island. A Thai island. These things did not matter nor made any difference to the experience that is a paradise island. The food was great, the island is hot all year round so a few moments of cool water is welcomed and the smell is brief!

Pros: The location is awesome. About a 5 minute walk from the main Sairee shops/bars, but far enough away that you felt like you were on a quiet beach. The pool is amazing! We stayed in one of the Sara villas and I could not recommend it higher! Absolute luxury. Staff were friendly really friendly and helpful.

Cons: Breakfast is okay. The items on the menu are served pretty plain/bland, but overall not terrible.

Pros: Cottage 260 degrees was absolutely fantastic! It was just my husband and I. Huge, 2 bedroom w separate bath/shower. Living room and dinning area w not fully equipped kitchen( no fridge or stowe). Each room have it’s own fridge. The best part is the big outdoor pool and deck w shower and sun beds. Big terrace and the view is to die for! Very quiet and close to the snorkel platform where we did a lot of long swims from. The location us perfect for us, walking distance but not too far. Oh, and the bathroom in the master bedroom is huge!!

Cons: Not enough shade on the terrace.

Cons: Employees don’t sound and look they like to help you. Showers on hight of Thai people. So visitors from US or European countries have to Squad or sit on a chair to be able to shower. Everyone above 1.60 has a problem :)

Cons: This has been a wonderful property, but unfortunately its trading on past reviews and charging a fortune whilst letting the resort run to ruin. Some staff were lovely, others were down right rude. I’ve never paid so much for so little. Our two bedroom villa had an open air lounge/kitchen area which almost couldn’t ever be used as the mozzies were relentless, in fact the whole resort suffered from this problem. Lawns were un mowed , path’s were broken, electrical were shonky, water features everywhere were not working. One pool was drained and has been for a long time. Reception furniture was unravelling. Decks needed cleaning. Cleaners wanted access every day at about 2.00pm despite us saying we were out all morning and could they do it then. Staff used the two villas beside us to lounge around in for part of the day. Pictures shown on various sites are 10 years or more old and not a good representation of current presentation of the resort. One of our villas, Whitesand was musty, dingy and with white sheets that were closer to grey. In short everything needs an overhaul if they are going to keep charging crazy prices.

Pros: My friend and I stayed here and were very impressive by this resort. The beach area was lovely, the staff were extremely helpful and accommodating, the cabana was spacious and nicely decorated, and the location was great - just a 5 minute walk along the beach to get to town. The restaurant had good food and a large menu with lots to choose from. The breakfast/buffet was also tasty and convenient. The beach was fairly shallow so not ideal for swimming, but the pool area offered a nice way to cool off. I highly recommend and would definitely stay here again!

Cons: When we checked out, we left our bags at the reception and went for breakfast. They assumed we were going to the pier , so they decided to already send our luggage up there without asking us. However, we weren't going to the pier.. So after breakfast we found out our luggage was gone. They said they would send our luggage to the location we were going to ourselves, but when we got there only 1 bag arrived. We had to get to the pier ourselves to get our second bag, which just stood there without anyone watching it. No service for a 4 star hotel. Prices are high compared to the rest of the island (European standards).

Pros: The resort was absolutely stunning. Beautiful pool and beach, and outstanding accommodation. Each room was its own bungalow which was cleaned by the staff every day. The staff were very kind and helpful.

Cons: It was slightly overpriced. Compared to the prices you get outside the resort, it was very expensive. We ended up having dinner at a restaurant in town that was half of the price of the resort restaurant. Also, when renting water sports equipment, they charged for life jackets which isn’t right. People should be encouraged to take life jackets to ensure their safety and not worry about a price.

Pros: Good breakfast, wonderfull view and beach, friendly and helpful staff.

Pros: The beach was nice and you could see some coral and fish. Nice place for snorkeling and swimming. Good they have a waiting room near the pier where you can wait while they pick you up and where you can leave your luggage while waiting. Most of the staff that needed to approach us were nice but the staff that didn't (such as cleaning and grounds staff) wouldn't even crack a smile. Not much else stood out as positive.

Cons: The location is really remote from the rest of the town so the logistics were difficult. They do have a shuttle but it only picks up from the town 3 times a day and drops off there twice. It would be ok if I wasn't interested in exploring the rest of Koh Tao but I was. Mosquito mitigation was basically nil. You have a net for your bed but they didn't provide any form of repellent leaving you to fend for yourself. Anytime you're outside the net, you will be bit. Can't even go to the toilet without getting bit multiple times..... To add insult to injury, when I called to ask about them providing some mosquito repellent, they put me on hold then hung up on me. Didn't get around to trying the restaurant there as they gouge you since you're far away from most restaurants. It would take 30-40 minutes to walk to town up and down steep hills. Staff was also unsympathetic towards late check-out requests. Staff also didn't greet you when walking by like they do at other Thai hotels. Overall I got the feeling the place wasn't well managed. Rooms themselves didn't look very nice (we stayed in the villas which was basically a small hut). Shower had a light that was out which wasn't fixed. Power would go out to the whole resort everyday at 1158pm for a couple of minutes although I'm not sure if that applies to the rest of the island as well. They nickel and dime you for everything...want to get dropped off at sairee beach instead of the pier? That's an extra 50 baht. Want to take a kayak out for a spin? That's another 250. These things were free at other hotels we stayed at.

Pros: Beautiful property, well kept, nice rooms. The beach is beautiful and the food is amazing!! Great Thai food and western food. Super nice staff, always smiling. Very nice pool, not a lot of lounges but you can claim your spot early in the morning.

Cons: A bit messy and confused staff at check out. Free shuttle to Sairee but only 3 times a day. Taxi to sure expensive (not hotel fault) . They could do a better job cleaning the rooms. Water pressure not great in the shower. But overall very good

Cons: Having checked all reviews I was looking to stay at the beach resort NOT the club. My receipts and conformations stated beach resort and I was told on arrival I actually booked resort. Staff were most unsympathetic and I was offered a bottle of wine and a letter to sign to confirm that I would not complain on reviews...clearly I declined a crappy bottle of chardonnay as a 'compromise agreement' and instead wrote this. Please check you know what you're getting. The management blamed their agents but that is not the customers problem, they need to better manage through brand. Poor show. FYI, nothing wrong with beach club, it just wasn't what I thought I bought and had reviewed. If this happened in any other business you'd get a refund / transfer.

Pros: Beautiful location on the beach with a really nice pool too. Staff are friendly and keen to ensure you have a good holiday. Breakfast is good and very worthwhile, a large choice. Rooms are comfortable and large enough. We did an island tour seeing the best bays and snorkelling at them all. There are many group tours that do this but we got a fishtail boat taxi off the hotel beach for our family and did it privately. That worked really well and wasn’t expensive bur gave us total flexibility, so I would highly recommend that.

Cons: The sea is very shallow and rocky until you go out a very long distance. We all ended up with multiple coral cuts, minor but irritating. The staff in reception were not as helpful and primarily trying to get more money out of you. The shuttle into town is useful but timings are not very good so we ended up with an arrangement with a local taxi driver to ferry us around as needed, for a reasonable rate. I would recommend that.

Pros: Fantastic location (best on the island in our opinion), beautiful spot within walking distance to Chulok, comfortable and very accommodating.

Cons: The breakfast was slightly disappointing but this is really minor compared to how beautiful the place is.

Pros: Excellent location - best beach on the island. The staff were very good and attentive. The In Sea restaurant had rather limited menu but food was consistent and decent. We had the Castaway rooms which were very comfortable and charming. The spa was very basic but Thai massages were excellent.

Pros: Stunning location with a beautiful infinity pool

Cons: As they said it was low season, only one restaurant and one bar over four were opened during our stay. The room toilet was OK, but with no window. The shuttle service to the town is a bit limited and taxis are very expensive, so you are forced to rent a motorbike, thing which we recommend in any case. Be aware the road to the hotel is a bit bumpy

Pros: Amazing facilities and views. Good size of room and very clean. We loved the pool and especially our friend Oskar who always served us with a smile. An extra thank you to him for our memorable stay.

Cons: Its very far away from everything and the taxis are extortionate to get anywhere which is a shame. We paid the same price to get to another bay than we paid to go all the way to Koh Samui. More shuttles offered by the hotel would be great.

Pros: Great views and beautiful bay. We stayed in Family Villa which is really 2 rooms with the door opened between them. Each room has a balcony and nice bathrooms with big king sized bed. The beach is pretty empty with lots of coral / fish life - however a lot of it is damaged by the swimmers / boats. There is a bus that goes into town at set times which is handy and hired a scooter for 2 days to visit other beaches - this is good fun. Even though it was cloudy you can still lie out next to the amazing pool or on the beach and still get sun tanned.

Cons: There are steep steps down to the restaurant / beach - and i mean steep. Im pretty fit but the area is very steep - and a bit of a drag nip back to your room. Reef on site Diving is very expensive compared to other centers as is the spa. Whilst we were there in August it was very windy so sea was rough and diving not great. That is not the fault of the hotel. The bay was pretty sheltered from the prevailing south westerlies. We had a few issues wih aircon not working and door locks not working but staff fixed those.

Pros: The staff the views the facilities the pools the restrooms all over the place.

Cons: compared to most parts of Thailand, this location (as most of Koh Tao) was a bit pricy. The location makes up for it though.

Just be careful when you drive in the night or walk, during our stay we found 3 snakes... 1 was a giant python around 3 meters big.... :|

Pros: Great location. Even saw some reef sharks. Also liked the free shuttle from the port on arrival.

Cons: Some of the staff were quite unfriendly. Luckily a few of the staff were really nice, especially one of the younger men who work around the front desk and kitchen and one of the young girls who we only saw on reception once.

Pros: The structure is very modern, the room clean and it faces a really beautiful bay with amazing snorkeling available.

Cons: Our room was super hot. We thought that a fan room with open doors and windows would be enough to ensure some ari circulation but unfortunately, the "garden" room doesn't get any breeze at all. I would have loved to receive this reccomendation from the staff so that we could have book a room more exposed to the wind or with AC. When I pointed this out to the receptionist she laughed at me!

Cons: No safe in the room , room was extremely basic only had the bare minimum. No natural light entering the room, very hard to see anything. No carpet in the room, no comfort or cosy feeling at all. Resembled a hostel room and not a good room for a couple. Shower was hot / cold. A lot of noise on the grounds. Location was about 10 min drive to Sairee beach which raked up on taxis (400 bhat each way) Breakfast selection was average and very buggy in the restaurant.

Pros: The resort is newly renovated with beautiful gardens, really well thought out with huge trees and very well maintained. The pool area is beautiful and right on the sea. They've done the nautical theme really well with lots of old buoys dotted about the place, looks great. The beach is really clean and lovely and much better than 10 years ago... Went with family 2 kids of 10 and 12 and was perfect, much better than Sairee which is too manic these days. You can walk to rocky bay and snorkel with the sharks. 10 mins walk. Walk to loads of great restaurants. Will stay again... Highly recommended.

Pros: The breakfast was delicious and the pool was amazing the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Cons: Perhaps maybe they could add a few more sun loungers but really it was fine.

Pros: The location was fantastic, right on the beach and the pool was good.

Cons: We were charged a 3% surcharge for paying by credit card. This was unexpected and the only place that we stayed at in Thailand that did. The hotel was already very expensive for what it offered and this surcharge was very unwelcome. Bed was uncomfortable and the air conditioning was inefficient, so the room was far too hot to sleep comfortably. Uneven floor in the bathroom led to a constant puddle of water by the sink. Not enough seating at breakfast, only one proper table, big enough for a family; the rest were small coffee tables for two. People were queuing on their balconies waiting for a table and service was extremely slow. The restaurant was sticky and the food was mediocre.

Pros: Everything; really beautiful resort, green, lots of flowers, birds singing, next to the beach, nice infinity pool, great breakfast. Staff great, polite, helpful. Rooms clean. Really recommend the hotel, great value for money. Would stay here again...

Pros: The staff were very kind and helpful. Although I did not go to the beach, it is a beachfront property and it was very close to the pier. I LOVE LOVE LOVED how hot the shower water got and it stayed hot for a very long time.

Cons: The rooms are a little outdated and there are spiderwebs under the shelves. The mattress is also pretty hard.

Pros: The location was excellent as where the grounds and overall look of the hotel. The pool looked out to sea and you could have a drink at the bar or have breakfast with the same view. Room was large and it had a safe, though not laptop compatible. A/C worked and was a reasonable volume - i.e. nearly silent. Breakfast was nice.

Cons: Our particular room was always light owing to light pollution from resort next door and there where no curtains over the light bricks, so the light could not be blocked out. In fact it was so light it was brighter in the room during the night than during the day! No hot water at all. Not that we wanted to watch tv, but there where no channels tuned in. Only tea provided with cups and kettle, no coffee... Sheets had holes in. Not particularly an issue but confused towel policy some days 2, some days 4.. Odd room cleaning time of in the afternoon, which is probably the most likely time you would want to sleep as its hottest then! We thought it was very expensive for what it was/ lack of attention to detail.

Pros: the views from the pool that smelled of chlorine 15 meters before arriving

Cons: The receptionist first offered me a better room as soon as I arrived with very good views and when he shows it to me it is a room that is much much smaller and without ventilation. After seeing her, I go and tell her that she is very small and that I want my room from the photos, my surprise that at 2:30 pm it was not yet clean and it took almost two hours after my long trip from another island. Who made the photos had to pay a lot because they do not look like the photos of booking.

Pros: The garden and pool area is beautiful and well designed, with direct access to the beach. Its also located in, in my opinion, the best place to stay on the island.

Cons: Unfortunately, we were very dissapointed with this hotel. Firstly, the staff were very rude (not only did my husband and I feel this way, but also all other guests with whom we spoke to while we were there). Secondly, the windows do not have fly-screens, so you can't open them if you want to avoid the mozzies. This means the room is very dark (and moist after the shower) and theres no view to the outside. The rooms also do not have nets over the beds. Thirdly, they are building new rooms at the moment. The construction workers began at 8 am and it was very very loud! The staff did not let us change rooms to be further away from the noise. Fouthly, the bed was rock hard and the pillow way too thick. All up, its not worth the price, despite the nice location.

Pros: The views from the swimming pool were really good, in front of the sea. The room was very clean and comfortable.

Cons: The staff was really slow with food. The breakfast took ages to come out, after that we were almost late for our transfer to get the boat.
