Staff very helpful, rooms clean, delightful architecture.
A pity the restaurant is closed at the weekend.
The hotel is a former bank with an impressive interior at the front desk and a fantastic glass dome. There's a bar attached to the building & Marco Pierre White restaurant. Opposite the hotel is a lobster and burger restaurant. We had a queen room for two nights, the bed was comfortable, the room included slippers, toiletries, iron, hair dryer (basic), writing desk, coffee machine (pods). The windows don't open and the room was a bit stuffy. The decor is dated but clean. Bathroom had a large bath and a shower. Beware of the hot water from the tap - it's pretty much boiling! Overall, staff was great, especially Francesca (sorry for possible misspelling) at breakfast. She was super professional and helpful. Great stay, ok location city wise, quite nice over the weekend because the area can be very quiet due to the absence of city/bank workers. Walkable to Barbican centre and local restaurants and bars.
Slightly dated interior. Very strange wall art in rooms- brown splotchy prints in the bathroom. Quite far from city centre - not optimal if you want to be very central.
Stayed for valentines evening and had dinner in Marco Pierre White Wheeler's of St. James's restaurant adjoining the hotel. The whole experience was superb. From the moment we checked in to when we left. We were met with a glass of prosecco and chocolates on check in which was a nice touch. All the staff were happy and friendly and made the whole stay better than we expected.
I couldn't fault it, I now have the issue of doing better next year.
The service at check in. Amazing staff!
