Overview

The Hollywood Historic Hotel was built by architect S. Charles Lee in 1927 and is a member of the National Register of Historic Places. This hotel is a true historical landmark in the heart of Hollywood CA, where the view from the rooms is the Hollywood Sign, and is only one block away from Raleigh and Paramount Pictures Studios. The hotel has had many famous guests from dignitaries, diplomats, and celebrities.

The hotel has been lovingly remodeled and reopened with modern luxury and classic grandeur. When the hotel opened in 1927 it was then called The Hollywood Melrose Hotel and used by many actors during the silent film era. All the rooms and the building have many of the original features such as the sinks, bathtubs, mirrors, windows, doors, stairwells, and even the large stained, leaded glass windows in the lobby. There are 62 rooms offering free Wi-Fi, 24 hour front desk service, large eastern king beds, and refrigerator in all rooms.

The Hollywood Historic Hotel offers a perfect location for guests to enjoy all the popular sites of old Hollywood. Just down the street are the historic Mann's Chinese Theater, Hollywood Walk of Fame , Paramount Studios, and the Wax Museum. The hotel is also just a few miles from Disneyland, Universal Studios, K'notts Berry Farm, and the infamous Sunset Strip.

The Hollywood Historic Hotel offers guests a 1920s European style hotel with a touch of Hollywood luxury and glamour in the heart of a preserved old Hollywood hamlet. The area is filled with 1920s and 1930s architecture to delight and invite guests to remember the golden age of old Hollywood.

Summary of reviews

Guests say
Overall, guests appreciated the hotel's excellent central location, friendly and helpful staff, and clean rooms. Many found the parking convenient, though the cost was a common complaint. While the historic atmosphere and amenities like the bar and restaurant were praised, several guests noted that the rooms, especially bathrooms, were small and some areas felt dated. There were occasional issues with noise, air conditioning, and WiFi, but the value for the price and accessibility to city attractions stood out as positives.

The bed was comfortable. Room was clean. The hotel is small and rooms in need of renovation. For example, grout in shower was missing in some spots. Staff was friendly and helpful. Smallest elevator that I've ever seen! I was hoping for a cool, old retro vibe...it was mostly just old.

Pros (+) I loved the photos on the walls of the great Hollywood stars, the beautiful lobby area, the large refrigerator in our room, the complimentary water and coffee.
Cons (-) The bathroom was so small it required thought to maneuver.
