Good breakfast. Room was comfy and the wifi was good. I was in town for a conference downtown and the location was convenient for what I needed.
It's an interesting setup being an old school athletic club and then just the top 3 floors as a hotel. Downtown LA is definitely an acquired taste.
The staff is really friendly.
Our blanket on our bed was dirty with stains and had hair on it we had to call for a new one. The bathroom is pretty outdated and barely any light. The indoor basketball court was closed “due to rain”
The best thing about this iconic hotel is the staff. The people at the reception (esp Errie) and at the breakfast area were warm, friendly and really helpful. We had booked for a day, but ended up staying for 3 nights, and we loved coming back to the hotel at the end of the day. The location is right in the heart of LA downtown. Lots of eateries around. Lots of shopping around. Rooms are clean and beds are comfortable. Because of their gym facilities, the hotel reception was always buzzing with people.
Room could have had more sunlight (but i guess they cant do much about it now). Another thing that we didn't like, but which i guess is again beyond the control of the hotel, is the number of homeless people and drug addicts in the area. It was quite scary on a couple of occasions to be accosted by them. If such a prime area has so many homeless people, i wonder what other parts of LA will be like.
Room was very nice, bathroom was very small. Not enough room for 2 people, but everything was clean and well appointed.
It was full of history and beautiful. Great location! The hotel and building itself was wonderful. Free breakfast. Parking is reasonably priced. Definitely going back again.
Bed was slightly uncomfortable. TV was awkwardly placed and small.
