Old fashion, simple room but was clean and the bed was comfy. Bedding could be more up to date. Good location.

Receptionist asked for documents of my friend and didn't want to accept copy from phone. Does it mean that he/she cannot stay at the hotel while it was 100% paid even if they they have all my documents and credit card data? This requirement have been never mentioned anywhere. Receptionist referenced to the requirements provided by the police but it all looks like without original documents you will sleep on the street. It's not Spanish hospitality.

The main asset of Hostal San Blas is its location: not more than 300 m from the Atocha railway station and some 500 m from the Museo del Prado. The price (€ 48 per night for a single room) is reasonable enough, compared to other hotels in this area. My room was quite small, but it had everything necessary (TV, WC, shower, hair dryer). All receptionists were very friendly and helpful, they all spoke good English.
There are no breakfast facilities, this problem could be easily resolved: there are several breakfast restaurants in this area (my personal choice was Casa Luciano).
