7.9 Good
Pros: Great pool, good breakfast, clean room
8.8 Excellent
Pros: * Good place - close to the bus stop, bar and restaurant part of the town and to both beaches of Matala. * Basic breakfast (8:30-10:00), but enough to start the day. * The room is clean, has a fridge, TV, small safe for private items, own shower and toilet, this time (I'm staying here for the third time) I also had a loggia. Two towels are included in the price, which is changed after 5 days of stay. * Private car parking is right next to the property. * Wi-Fi is available in the entire building. * Helpful and friendly staff.
Cons: * In the evening there may be a problem with the internet connection - all guests are already in the hotel, so this causes the loss of Wi-Fi signal. * The reception after 18-19 is closed, so in the evening, if you want to drink something hot, either go to one of the nearby bars/café/restaurants, or have a water boiler/immersion heater with you - there are cups in the room.
2.0 Mediocre
Pros: Location was good, and the pool was quite nice
Cons: On our second night the water ran out. When we managed to contact a staff member (as none on site) were advised there was a burst water main and it 'may' be sorted in the morning. In the meantime if we needed drinking water we were told to go and buy some from a shop. The following morning they managed to fill the water tank from an alternative source, however that evening it transpired that there was no hot water. When we mentioned this to a staff member, they seemed surprised it was an issue, but said they would switch on the electric water heater. At no point was there any sincere apology, recognition of the inconveniences caused or offer of any form of compensation (e.g. bottled water from the stock at the bar). We checked out a day early to go and stay somewhere nice.

Pros: Excellent location, close to matala beach. The breakfast was very good. The room was very clean. We couldn't go into the swimming pool because it was cold but it looked very good.

Pros: The location is great! Just a 10 minute walk to the very centre of Matala and the beach. Easy parking near the apartments. Nice welcoming and clean rooms and pool! Overall a very nice stay. I would definitely recommend Dimitris Villa Hotel.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great welcome from the staff , great pool which we loved after a long drive .
Cons: The shower , the curtain needs to be longer as it flooded the floor .
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Location, price and friendly staff.

Pros: Comfortable and nice hotel. We really appreciated breakfast served in the terrace. The position is very near to Matala beach and restaurants (we went on foot) but not too close to the crowded centre.

Pros: Staff were very pleasant. Rooms simple and clean. Good breakfat
Cons: Nothing
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Good friendly owners, great breakfast buffet and very chilled vibe.
Cons: Nothing really.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We had a fantastic stay here, would certainly recommend. Everything was great - clean and comfortable rooms, modern bathrooms, decent sized pool, short walk to the town, and a substantial continental style buffet breakfast. The hotel had a lovely homely feel with character and a relaxed atmosphere. The owners Michael and Cornelia were friendly, welcoming, helpful and even honoured our request for two adjacent rooms for our party. Thank you for your hospitality Hotel Neos! We hope to see you again soon.
Cons: Only that we didn't book to stay longer!
9.2 Excellent
Cons: No hot water in the morning.
3.8 Mediocre
Cons: Our room was on the ground floor there were cats everywhere at this property who were clearly used to coming into the building. They came in and out of our room and twice hid under the bed. I could not leave my door open as cats would come in. There was no window for ventilation only a door. I asked for a room on the upper floor but none was available. Our room smelt of damp. Cats and damp are bad for my asthma and make me wheeze. This is a joke as the hotel description clearly says no pets and that the room is allergy free. I had booked and paid for in advance 2 nights but left after one because I found the standard of the room so unacceptable. This hotel is more like a hostel but charges hotel prices. I asked for a refund of the 2nd night but the management refused. I seriously think they can not see that people may not like cats coming into their rooms. The room Itself was cramped the shower didn’t work properly and the decor is dated. I left as soon as I could to stay in a clean welcoming well cared for hotel in the centre of Matala which was cheaper and much much nicer. I travel frequently nearly always book through booking.com and don’t like to give a bad review. I paid 126 euros for a very sub standard stay and I am still asking the hotel for a refund of my second un -used night. Hmmmmm
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The Hotel is near the center of Matala and the beach. You can leave the car and move on foot. The owners are polite and sweet. I suggested it! We passed a great holiday! :)

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff really friendly, outside pool table whilst kids could run around. Breakfast lovely with fresh omelettes and fried eggs. Fresh bread and plenty of choice. Nice pool with kids toys. Location so close to beach and town.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Hotel near the beach
Cons: No WIFI in the room
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location, easy to find hotel, it is so near the beach, the hotel is used by more French and German tourists than English speaking, we didn't mind that, we can't comment on food in the hotel past breakfast as that was the only meal we had in there, it was adequate, same food every day but its not a 5 star hotel with staff falling over themselves to get at you. it was a decent price hotel in an excellent portion. The beds were good enough we didn't find them too bad , not the same comfort as we have at home but soft enough.
Cons: Check in was a surprise, they had my name wrong but that didn't matter, I had booked through booking .com so it was fine, we had a decent room, i think they had upgraded us to a larger family room, the balcony is small, but its ok to sit at as you cool down and chill till you get back out for food, the balcony is big enough practice yoga on as I can attest to, we had no problem with anything
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is very close to the beach. Nice staff... There is a small pool, and our kids enjoyed it very much. The breakfast is superb... (except for the coffee and the juices... ) everything else was delicious!!!
Cons: Coffee and juices in breakfast
10.0 Excellent
Pros: the place is nicely decorated the details the plants everywhere . Breakfast was very good . The owner/manager was the kindest person. Place is 3min from the beach .
Cons: it has nothing to do with the place but evrrybody smokes everywhere. Sitting on our balcony in a cloud of smoke coming from neighbors on each side and above.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The beach at Matala is fabulous, the water is clear and clean and there are lots of fish. It is in a very deep bay so can be very calm to swim at times. The caves there are only 2 euro to enter and explore and have a lot of history, the Romans and the 1970's hippie hang out. Tons of restaurants and bars and shopping nearby. The hotel had a fabulous pool and great loungers and 70's English music.
Cons: The breakfast could have had better coffee and real juice.

5.8 Okay
Pros: Top floor balcony was spacious ,private and open with some views of the cliffs and sea with built in sun shelter. We did enjoy sitting there at different tomes of the day. BUT see below. Bought breakfast elsewhere.
Cons: Room overpriced. Balcony unattractive jerry built appearance that had some dangerous features eg shards of unprotected broken drain pipes , metal rods and concrete covered pipes protruding from floor. Wife joked that we had arrived on the set of a lost OFAH episode where Trotters had conned someone that they were expert balcony builders. Soon after arrival man asked if I was paying cash(reflects other reviews of property) Hope the Greek taxman reads this. Actual room not too bad but not to standard expected for price. Rooms on floors below (cheaper) seemed to have balconies with no views , close to other buildings or overgrown trees.
6.3 Good
Pros: Clean & spatious
Cons: No info from staf
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Well located, nice little room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Hotel Sofia is located just a few minutes’ walk from the beach. There is no parking directly at the hotel, but you unload your car right in front, and the hotel gives you a voucher for parking a few minute’s walk up the road. Check-in was quick and easy. There is no elevator, so a room upstairs means carrying bags up the steps. We had a room for 4. The front room had a double bed and the bathroom. The second room, divided by a door, had a bunk bed for the kids and a kitchenette, with a fridge/freezer. It included some pots and pans. The room and bathroom were clean. The back porch had a drying rack for our wet swimsuits. The A/C was only in the front room, so the door between rooms needed to be left open so the kids received cool air. But the unit was plenty strong to cool both rooms. The wifi was FAST. The hotel provided towels for us to use on the beach. They had some mats to lay on the sand and a water air mattress to use as well. We enjoyed the ambiance of this hotel and would gladly recommend this location to anyone traveling to Matala.
Cons: We enjoyed this hotel. No complaints.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: In the centre of Matala. Close to restaurants, bars, beach. Early good price for value.
Cons: everything is ok.
6.3 Good
Pros: Good location
Cons: Dingy room with a tiny bathroom and semi-fluorescent lighting that didn’t work on one side of the bed. It opened onto an exterior corridor that serves as a verandah. Service was surly at breakfast. Matala Gorge and beach are stunning but the town seems to be a draw for aging hippies with anklets and turquoise nail polish. Not a high point!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very clean room. Lovely atmosphere and great character. Really good breakfast. Good choice. Hotel is a minute from the center of town.
Cons: Tea and coffee making facilities in the room
7.9 Good
Pros: Location is great, right in centre of Matala. Breakfast was ok. It was also free based on the facts below. Since we last stayed there 5 years ago the room, coincidentally we had the same room and the best (no.9), they have refurbished and redecorated. The room was therefore light and bright with a spacious bathroom/shower and a better more comfortable bed and pillows. Iorgos and his mother were friendly.
Cons: when we arrived to check in we were informed that he (Iorgos) had double booked the room having got our dates wrong. He booked us into the hotel opposite for one night. This was quite shabby and unpleasant. He offered us free breakfasts for our stay as a recommpence.

Pros: Lovely family run hotel with genuine warmth and hospitality from its Cretian owners, we went with our two children and were made to feel very welcome. We would definitely recommend and stay here again. Matala and it's atmosphere is a rare find
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Well located with parking facilities. Very clean room and shower room. Kettle provided. Balcony. Quiet (usually!) Very helpful and friendly staff.
Cons: We loved the room but unfortunately for us the balcony could only be used for a few hours because of where the sun rose and set. The next time we stay we will ask for one of the shadier rooms.

Pros: Off the main road to be quiet enough but still 1 minute walk to the beach and near everything you want.

Pros: Martala is a very trendy place - so prices are higher than other places. The hotel must be from the 70ties. Parking is just in front and the hotel is close to all the restaurants and beach. Bathroom has been updated and so the balcony. My mattress was quite old of the metal spring type that you could feel directly - so I had to put some double blanket under the sheet - in order to get some sleep. The small freezer was quite noisy - so I put it on the low 1 - so it only went on every half hour for a few minutes.
Cons: told the owner - that my mattres had to be changed. - in room no. 30
5.4 Okay
Pros: The location is good. Matala is great. The hosts are friendly.
Cons: Room was uncozy. Bed was uncomfortable. It was quite noisy at night (other guests, fridge).

Pros: Very clean. Location is very good if you don't mind hearing music and people in the (late) evening. Our room overlooked the Matala square, with a little bit of the ocean. Quick shortcut from hotel to center and beach (50 meters). If you like a more quiet place ask for a room overlooking the street/mountains. We were welcomed with a nice glass of raki by the friendly owner. The hotel has some parking spaces for guests.
Cons: Rooms are a little outdated. Beds uncomfortable. Airconditioning above bed. Sometimes a little noisy outside.

Pros: The location is ideal.
Cons: The bed was very hard, and the furniture is old and dated.
