10.0 Excellent
Pros: The rooms were perfect for what we need. They were clean, beds were comfortable and had all the basic facilities needed to make our stay great. The staff were amazing super friendly on arrival and made our stay easy.
Cons: The only slight improvement needed would be an upgrade on the bathrooms. We weren't able to find a fan so the room got very streamy and sticky on the floor and walls. We had to open up the small window in the shower that was awkwardly located at shoulder height so you could see out and people could see in if they happened to be behind the rooms.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A great little place at a good price. Comfy beds, with bed heaters. Newly refurbished, very clean. The staff were friendly too. Would absolutely come back.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: We booked a few rooms to accommodate wider family when we recently travelled to Matamata for a wedding. Everyone was really impressed with their units: they are nicely appointed, well kitted out and fresh. My mum said she heard a train or two pass nearby, but I didn't. The bed in our unit was good and firm and the pillows weren't too thick. The owners were friendly and accommodating and we were able to access the rooms early. It's about 1.5km or so to walk into town but it's an easy flat walk.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: great shower

Pros: The best motel I have stayed at. Lovely.
Cons: Our fault, should have chosen the one bedroom apartment away from the main road.

Cons: There is nothing not to like about this amazing place.

Can you feel pampered and at the same time completely at ease? Jen and Dewi have nailed it (sorry no pun intended).
Cons: To be honest, there was nothing we didn't like or that could have been better, other than we would have loved to linger longer and appreciate this special place!

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Clean and tidy rooms.
Cons: We only realised that the room was outside when we arrived. The description wasn't clear.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Cool little cabins separated from each other so no noises from rooms next door. There were Reno’s while we were there but it was honestly no problem and disruptions were minimal. The perfect base for Hobbiton - just a 15 min drive away.
Cons: Nowhere to hang anything or put your luggage. You just have to put it on the floor. Not so great if it’s rainy and there are wet shoes etc coming in and out.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The rooms were cute and I loved the lay out of the place! The environment was great even though they were packed up a bit for renovations. We had our own room at the back and it was adorable. Also got a visit from Murray! Day made. Everything was kept clean too which was nice.
Cons: Bed was so uncomfortable, but got used to them after the first night . They were closed for renovations which is fair so there was no reception staff, ( which is fine! Im glad they are taking time to do what they need!) we were told we could keep our booking though so we came anyway because I was so excited to stay here, but we were told to call a number upon arrival to check in which we did, but no one answered for quite some time so we waited around for about 45 minutes until someone showed up, ( I think we may have annoyed him by trying to call a few times, but we had been waiting a bit and were really panicked about what to do) Im glad we didn’t though because I loved how unique the hostel is.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean rooms and toilets and showers. Plenty of shower rooms.
Cons: Runs out of hot water
7.1 Good
Pros: Very close to the town centre. Cute little container style rooms. Lounge room with fireplace was handy on a wet day.
Cons: The lock on our door was difficult to lock. We knew they were officially closed, but still surprised to be locked out as they had a code for the gate and no one was ever around to open.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice staff! Good kitchen! Super clean!
Cons: To go to the bathroom one had to go outside to the main house.

5.4 Okay
Cons: Could only get UKTV on sky. Wanted Sky sports (2 semis of rugby and no Sky sports) but got nothing but static. Spoke to office lady who tried to fix it but she gave up after 1 try. Although rooms clean, lots of minor repairs need doing had to reset button in bathroom before hairdryer and spa bath worked. Spa both covers on outlets all loose. Outside of fridge full of rust.

Cons: We booked the family room and ended up with 2 seperate rooms for a ‘family getaway’. It wasn’t ideal
Horse And Jockey Inn - Matamata - Building

Located in Matamata, Horse and Jockey Inn is a 1-minute drive from Founders Park and 8 minutes from Matamata Golf Club. Featured amenities include express check-out, microwave in a common area, and refrigerator in a common area. Free self parking is available onsite.
6.3 Good
Pros: Location
Cons: There is one sock hanging on the roof! And I was bitten by the insects and the skin got red. The price is too high for this environment.
7.1 Good
Pros: Good central location, rooms were clean and bed was comfortable.
Cons: there was no TV in the room, and for the price I was expecting one
7.5 Good
Pros: Spacious room, location
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The staff is very friendly and helpful. My son's glasses were left in the room when we checked out. The lady helped send them to us. Thank you so much. Besides, the location is great, so convenient to everything. And clean kitchenette.
6.3 Good
Pros: The staff were very friendly and we had a delicious meal in the pub downstairs.
Cons: Rooms are very simple, just two beds and a coffee table, so felt it was expensive for what we got. The communal ladies toilets ran out of toilet paper and even after they were cleaned in the morning, it wasn't replaced until after we left.
7.9 Good
Pros: Two of the three single beds quite firm...but we doubles up with blankets from spare bed as topper
6.7 Good
Pros: The location was good to what I needed to do in Matamata, I felt safe when I returned at night
Cons: The heater didn't work which wasn't ideal for it being winter
5.0 Okay
Cons: Shower was out of order and wasn’t told about that. The back yard was so loud in the very early morning like 4am, some kind of road work or trucks were going away.
8.2 Excellent
Pros: It's actually a bar that has some accommodation separate from the bar area (which I discovered to be common in Australia/New Zealand). The rooms were also secured and tucked away to help prevent anyone from randomly wandering up there. I found it to be pretty quiet, and the bed was quite warm and comfortable. For a single person, the room was more than spacious enough, and the bathroom and kitchen facilities down the hall were well-maintained. The staff was very friendly and accommodating as well.
Cons: There didn't seem to be any heat in the building. Considering it was getting close to winter in New Zealand, it got pretty cold throughout the whole building. Fortunately, the bed was surprisingly warm, and I slept comfortably that night. There was a little dirt/dust on top of the comforter and the table in the room, but hardly anything worth mentioning and not anything near enough to get my things dirty. The kitchen didn't seem to have hot water from the tap, but the communal bathrooms definitely did. Also, the wifi doesn't really reach the bedrooms, so you have to go to the bar if you need to use the internet. Overall, just some minor inconveniences for me.
8.5 Excellent
Pros: Loved the location, felt secure in building, staff was very helpful
Cons: Wall in bathroom had severe water damage
5.4 Okay
Pros: It was close proximity to where we needed to be
Cons: Heater didn’t work - rooms were freezing - toilet roll jammed in holder so had to ask for extra toilet roll and was treated as though stupid - continental breakfast was advertised but had to ask for cups for coffee - only enough water for 2 hot drinks - ran out of bread - check in was long and arduous
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing
Cons: The fact I was put in a leaky rom with yellow stained white sheets
