Overview

The Iberostar Berkeley is a recreation of the Art Deco Berkeley Shore Hotel in South Beach, FL, which was designed and built in 1940. The hotel has undergone a massive renovation, and a 10-story story that is adjacent to the original building was added. The hotel has more guestrooms than ever before, and it provides quality amenities and accommodations. This is an ADA compliant hotel.

The hotel offers 96 new guestrooms, which have been inspired by the style of the 1940s, albeit with all of the modern amenities and comforts that travelers want and need. Guests can expect comfortable workspaces, which have outlets and USB ports. The rooms also have minibars, daily room cleaning and turndown service, large and comfortable beds, a bathrobe and slippers, 50” television, in-room safe, coffeemaker, AC, and more.

This hotel has a 24-hr front desk, along with a sundeck patio. There is a heated pool and a lounge on the 4th floor, and there is high-speed wireless Internet throughout the common areas of the hotel. The hotel has a fully equipped fitness room for the guests to utilize, as well. Dining is available at the hotel, as well. The eatery, Fi’lia, is open for breakfast, lunch, Aperitivo hour, and dinner.

Iberostar Berkeley has a stellar location, as well. It is in South Beach and right near the water. Guests will find quite a few places to explore and experience in the area. Visitors can find plenty of places to dine, too. Some options include Chalan on the Beach, Pizza Bar, and South Beach Munchies.

Pros (+) Very good, clean room... not luxurious, but nice.
Cons (-) Security is pretty much non-existent. Anyone can walk in an go up to any floor. Half a dozen steps up from the lobby to the elevator make it inconvenient to make it up the stairs with your bags. The resort fee is excessive... particularly if you are there for business.

Pros (+) Fabulous Italian restaurant on property with friendly staff. Lovely outside patio dining at a leisurely pace. Room was immaculately clean albeit small as we reserved a standard king at a discounted rate through online booking site. Essentially on the corner of 16th and Collins, so could walk to the action on Ocean Avenue in less than 10 minutes.
Cons (-) Desk/some lobby staff were a bit aloof. Housekeeping staff nice but service was odd. They’d come to your door to offer evening chocolate or mini bar service but we had to ask for towels. Resort fee of $32 seemed higher than other resorts.
