10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had a fantastic stay in the caravan. Paola and Richard were fantastic hosts and nothing was too much trouble for them. The caravan was so clean, and the location for us was perfect. We loved the peace and quiet and being able to see the animals. We also liked the play area within sight of the caravan which was perfect for our children. The location is in great distance of all the attractions of both North Wales and Cheshire. The caravan was well equipped, plenty of towels and nice little touches such as the welcome basket. We are looking to come back again as we had such a great stay.
Cons: Nothing, there could be no improvement
9.2 Excellent

Cons: Nothing. I didnt like.I luke every thing there. Will higly recoolmmend it it to family members and friends.

Pros: Bed was very comfy, absolutely spotless, cottage was stunning and decorated beautifully and equipped with every need necessary
Cons: No faults!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Warmth, hospitality and friendliness of Richard and Paola. Freshly squeezed orange juice for breakfast, specially made porridge etc., View from dining room of Border Collies training in nearby field (no noise)
Cons: If there had been a desk/table in the bedroom, I would have used it. Bed strange. Very comfortable but much softer than I am used to.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Owners very friendly and helpful. Lovely play area for children. Thanks for a lovely stay
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The whole experience was second to none. Liked the very relaxed environment.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We really enjoyed the individuality of this gem off a B&B, Richard and Paola are amazing hosts, extremely helpful, and a real pleasure to talk with. This B&B has a very modern, tasteful decor, with an absolutely amazing shower, every detail from the cleanliness, to big fluffy colourful towels was immaculate, a full sized fridge regularly stocked with bottled water, bottles of fresh orange, and a small bottle of fresh milk every day, with plenty of sachets of coffee, sugar, tea bags, cappuccinos, and hot chocolate. Again the breakfast is different, and for us as a couple couldn’t be better, there’s an amazing well stocked hamper in the rooms, not just with breakfast cereals, and breakfast pastries, but with a multitude of snack items, crisps, Welsh cakes, nut bars, etc etc. Breakfast is a diy affair with a well stocked fridge, fresh eggs, freshly squeezed orange juice, a fantastic coffee machine, for those specialty coffees, we had full use of the fantastically equipped kitchen, in which we cooked breakfast every day. Nothing is to much trouble for this wonderful couple, my wife has a gluten intolerance, and Paola went out of her way to get a loaf of fresh gluten free bread, they even put on their ice machine and made us fresh ice in the evening. A really big thank you for making our stay special, looking forward to staying again, in the cottage with hot tub for our next visit.
Cons: I have to extremely picky, just to put something in this section, the mattress was a little soft for my wife, but this is not a criticism, and it would be impossible to have a mattress to suit every guest, it was fine for me.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything from the location, views and the property itself. The hosts Richard and Paola went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. Nothing was too much trouble. The open invitation of full use of the kitchen and the food available was brilliant. Also the special touches of home made biscuits and ice cream make this a very special gem of a place. We will definitely be making a return booking.
Cons: Absolutely nothing..
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A lovely comfortable place to stay. There was a warm and friendly welcome from Richard and Paola . The basket in your room was fantastic for your breakfast and a picnic.
Cons: Nothing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The welcome. Richard went out of his way to make us feel at home and went to great lengths to make sure we had everything we needed. From Paola's home made sweet treats and Richard's freshly squeezed orange juice, along side a well stocked fridge in the family's kitchen (which you are welcome to help yourself to) and a well stocked breakfast hamper there was nothing more to want. Breakfast was an informal affair which added to the home from home ambience. Great stay overall. PS Although breakfast is an informal help yourself affair, Richard was more than willing to make us something cooked and offered to do so profusely.
Cons: I guess the informal breakfast arrangements may not suit everyone but as former youth hostellers and campers in our younger days we didn't mind that a bit, plus we knew that was the case when we booked. However, Richard was also quite clearly willing to make us a cooked breakfast had we wanted one, plus there was food there for us to cook so no issues really. Guess the location could me a small negative as its not walking distance to any shops/pubs etc but thats down to personal choice and where you want to be, also lets remember it is WALES and one of the most beautiful places to live.

Pros: This was a lovely stay . The hostess made us a cup of tea and beautiful Welsh cake on arrival. The local community hotel was close and had a good menu. we were unfortunate to experience an electrical black out so there was no hot water, cooked breakfast. This however was OK as we had showered the night before and still had a very delicious breakfast. This was out of the hostess's hands and she coped very well. The room was very comfortable and clean.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: We really enjoyed our stay in Plas Efenechtyd. The whole experience was paved with nice touches and attention to detail which exceeded our expectations. David and Marilyn were very welcoming. Check in was a nice chat rather than a formality. They catered to our vegetarian breakfast needs even after we'd forgotten to mention this at time of booking. Breakfast was delicious. This has probably been stated enough in the other reviews but the jams, honey and marmalade were fantastic. Made on the premises from their fruit trees and own bee hives! Coupled with home made fresh bread, and a delicious fresh cooked breakfast, it sets you right up for the day. David and Marilyn are very well suited in their hospitality roles, and have put together accomodation that compliments all the best parts of North Wales. Lovely scenery, fresh locally made produce and hosts who are very informative on how to spend your time well while around Efenechtyd. Hope to see you next time we visit North Wales.

Pros: Hosts we're fantastic warm and welcoming. Room great and was breakfast. Will be back

Pros: Beautiful rooms
Cons: You are not allowed to have a take away in the room. If you are planning to do that it’s not a good idea! I think they should update the welcoming letter as I did not see anything in writing to say that you are not allowed to have a take away in the room.

Cons: nothing to dislike
10.0 Excellent
Pros: There was a varied range of things available for you to enjoy such as a cinema, dvds and a library which I thought was a lovely touch. Added to that the artwork and sculptures in the property were amazing.
Cons: It's not that I did not like it, it was just that as I was travelling for work, I had an early start I did not have the opportunity to enjoy the facilities to the full or the breakfast. I will certainly be going back to do so when I have more time.
7.5 Good
Pros: Good location
Cons: Shower area not very clean particularly shower curtain
6.3 Good
Pros: Although we only had breakfast it was delicious. The bed was very comfortable. The library was useful

Cons: Nothing, everything was fine
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The position of the hotel for local amenities.
Cons: We were allocated the disabled room. Clean however very dark inside, little natural light.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: I had an evening meal and breakfast and found both very good. One person who we would like to bring to your attention was the Manager (don't know whether he was food manager or Hotel Manager). Having been in the catering business for 27 years and recently retired, we watched this man for a couple of hours and can only say that he is a credit to your business. He was so fast, he was all over the place at one time, he was very busy, but so efficient that we could not believe the speed that he was working at. If you want the negative remarks, most of your young staff do not know how to make a Pimms. I find that in Hoylake and Ruthin. No ice, and hardly any fruit (two little pieces of strawberry in the first attempt. Also, we had to take a dirty glass with lipstick back. Overall, the three of us enjoyed our stay, and found the staff obliging and helpful. Our room was clean and everything needed was provided. One friend who stays at Hotels quite often made the point that you are generous with your coffee, tea, and that the mineral water was a nice extra. As it was Friday evening and very busy, the staff were very polite and helpful although under stress. One thing that would have been nice would have been a member of staff showing us our room instead of pointing in the general direction. Also, as we were pensioners, a help with our bags up the stairs would have been just an extra nice gesture. Overall for a first experience of your hotels we all enjoyed the experience very much. Thank you.
Cons: As above.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Had great room overlooking square. Clean and comfortable
Cons: Parking was hit and miss but management helped us get a place in their small lot. Bar and restaurant very chaotic and hard to get table cleaned off lots of glasses and tables not cleared and many glasses on bar.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great value in the centre of the town.
7.5 Good
Pros: It was comfortable, close to where we wanted to be, The staff were pleasant and helpful The rooms were nice and clean!
Cons: Nothing

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Really liked the location out in the country as we were wanting to stay in the fresh countryside and it's an easy drive into Ruthin, a lovely place also. We also saw how good a place it is for families, not that we have children as it even includes a playroom.
Cons: I was disappointed not to find a Gideon Bible and I would strongly encourage the staff to hold them in the draw of a bedside. For me this is something standard I expect from a hotel and it makes my experience ten times better as don't watch television much and like to read and relax. The Gideons will bring as many as you need free of charge if you contact them. Also we would note it is good to have gluten free bread available at breakfast.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were lovely. Was only a one night pit stop for us so didn't stay long but have no complaints
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: We had a bar meal one day and it was freshly prepared and nicely presented.
Cons: Our superior room was shabby with poor facilities and toiletries, old furniture, badly torn upholstery, a broken curtain rail and a worn carpet. Daily cleaning was very perfunctory. Breakfast had few choices and the hot buffet seemed to have been kept warm for far too long. Canned music at breakfast was from the late 60s and frankly the hotel itself seemed not to have moved on since then.
7.1 Good
Pros: Room was clean. Staff were very friendly.
Cons: Evening meals were highly priced and the portions quite small. Breakfast was a bit disorganised and I was nearly finished before I was offered any tea or coffee.
7.5 Good
Pros: Friendly helpful staff . Lovely bar and Restaurant area and the outside had plenty of nice comfortable seats and felt very relaxing .The breakfast was excellent and nice and hot.
Cons: The general hotel itself is lovely however the room , although nice and clean was very shabby and in need of restoration .The curtains were unable to close fully and were half hanging off the rail. The bath would be improved and safer if it had a grab rail to hold onto as it was very slippy getting in and out. Generally just minor tweaks needed.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Dinner in the restaurant was excellent Staff were great, room with a dog was super as we could use the fire door to take him out so didn’t need to go through public areas Although he was welcome in public bar. Very relaxing hotel in beautiful well kept surroundings

Pros: Breakfast and staff were good.
Cons: In our room(301) wardrobe and tea/coffee making facilities were on the inside of what had become the bathroom, as the bathroom door had been removed!!! No privacy, not safe ..kettle switch there and not very hygenic, regarding the clothes etc in the wardrobe!!

Pros: Breakfast was excellent as was the stunning location.
Cons: Overall the hotel was not what I had expected, the photos show a lovely castle style hotel but inside it loses much of its grandeur with lots of corridors. We booked a delux room but the rooms we got were nothing like the pictures on the website, the only chair in the room was for the desk with no where else to sit and the room was small. Our room also overlooked the flat roof and the other window any view was obscurred totally by trees, so the location could not be enjoyed. The bathroom was delux and huge . I wonder if we were allocated the wrong room but as we had friends with us, did not want to cause any issues, they also said that the room was way below their expectation.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Bed very comfortable food excellent staff polite and helpful.
Cons: Parts of the hotel decoration looked a little tired.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The decor is fabulous and the gardens are beautiful and overlook the ruined areas of the castle. There are peacocks strutting about and even a peacock! We were given information on the history of the castle which my 8 year old was excited about.
Cons: The pastries ran out at breakfast, much to young daughters upset! (Sigh) We had requested adjoining rooms on booking but the hotel appeared to be unaware of this and it was too late to change our rooms, so we were on different floors which was a little tricky but manageable.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable bed and room and pleasant polite staff. Food was excellent...evening and breakfast.
Cons: We arrived early to use facilities ....as this was stated in the email. Unfortunately there was a wedding taking place on the day. We couldnt get food during day and were advised to go to the village. We struggled to get served at bar and could not find a seat to sit in the evening. Its wasnt until we gave up and decided to go to bed that the receptionist told us there was another lounge we could have used. This was not signposted or exokained to us earlier

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Better to eat in the Bar area. Food just as nice as restaurant. Much faster and more enjoyable.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Bar and restaurant staff very good. Big rooms, castle is very beautiful. Food was fantastic
Cons: Check-in staff were a bit rude and the castle could do with some refreshing inside
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful location in historic building and grounds
Cons: The check in and check out waiting times were unacceptable. This was because there was only one receptionist struggling to process a large number of weekend guests. 30 minutes minimum waiting in a queue to check out spoilt the overall stay
