The location and historic feel of the place. The manager and staff were very nice and helpful. The pool was well positioned and welcomed after a hot day sightseeing.
Lovely location, beautiful rooms and grounds, lovely staff.
Best part is that it’s close to the entry to town. Has parking for visitors as parking is an issue any closer and a gamble. Walking distance(10mins) but there is a bus service every 30mins or a taxi is 3.5€ which works out cheaper for 3 or more people then bus. The Aussie lady at reception from Tasmania is an absolute gem and super lovely. Others could learn from her. Great air conditioning, spacious room. Has a good pool.
Lack of lighting in the room especially bathroom. Made shaving impossible. Could of been just our room tho.
We like the staff, very helpful and always nice, and the location, nice view and just 10-15 min walk from the castle area.
The hotel is way too expensive for the services and facilities it has. The hotel itself is historic and therefore very nice but definitely needs to be renovated if they want to keep these rates. Our room was very large, bathroom was ok except for the bad smell coming from its tubes. Breakfast was quite ok, apart from the fact that hot food was not actually that hot when we had it. Swimming pool, apart from being very small, it was very shabby (it seemed unused from years). So, all in all, the hotel would be quite ok if only it costed at least half of what we paid (182 € per night, a real exaggeration compared to what it offers).
Breakfast was poor - the fruit didn't seem fresh and the bread items a bit stale
Our room had 4 doors. The fridge didn't work, the air conditioning unit was ineffective, the en suite bathroom cramped and the bathroom sink was actually outside of the bathroom next to the tv. Low door frames meant we banged our heads regularly when entering the bathroom and leaving the room. The room/stay was most certainly not value for money
