Rented car was at least 10 years old. Full of scratches everywhere. Had 100,000 km or roughly 65,000 miles on the odometer. Sixt does not have a counter in the airport. You need to call them. Pick up service from the airport was OK Although the transport vehicle was I think 15 year old van that was scratched up and dented. And returning the vehicle it’s almost impossible because no signs are posted anywhere for returning vehicles. Awful experience. Nobody speaks English.

It is BS how the price that I paid included absolutely no insurance, and when I got to the front desk they would not let me pick up the car unless I paid an extra $8,000 MXN for basic insurance — that’s almost 3 times the original price I paid! This lack of transparency makes it all look like a scam because I ended up having no option but to pay for the insurance, they wouldn’t take my credit card’s insurance either! This is horrible and will not be doing business with any of you unless this is addressed.

This company looked shady the moment I landed in MTY. I went to the car rental kiosk, where all the serious and well known companies have representatives and the lady from National told me American Car Rental is a mess, they always have issues with them, and sighed to me. She told me I had to call them so they could bring a van to the terminal to pick my family and I up. I tried to call them at least a dozen times, and the line would disconnect or their call center would not transfer the call to the local office. After 20 minutes I was able to get a hold of them, and they told me the van would come to pick us up in less than 10 minutes. 15 minutes passes, another dozen calls, and I asked where the van was, they told me it would be with us in less than 10 minutes. They finally picked us up and took to the rental office, and they told me THE ONLY minivan I had rented out, was not working and they wanted to give me a smaller car, and tried to push me to it telling me it was in the same category as the minivan, which it was NOT. It was a 3-row SUV with zero space for suitcases. We are a family of 7. Horrible staff! Horrible experience! And zero instructions on how to deal with this company on Expedia's website/email. HORRIBLE!

This was the worst experience I have had renting a vehicle. Staff was good, but they didnt have the vehicle ready, then they gave one were the vehicle was falling apart and dangerous to drive. (I have pictures) still waiting on them to refund me the money on my credit card. It was super disappointing
