FAQs about renting a car at Naples Airport

  • What documentation do I need to rent a car at Naples Airport?

You will need to provide your full valid driver’s license, which you have had for at least one year, as well as a secondary form of photo identification such as your passport, and a credit card in your name for the costs of your organised car hire at Naples Airport. Most companies in Italy will have a minimum age requirement of 21, though some companies will rent to drivers as young as 18 with an additional young driver fee. It is also a good idea to bring confirmation of your booking.

  • Where are the car hire offices located at Naples Airport?

Most of the hire car offices at Naples Airport are all located together in one building, at the edge of the main car park and Viale Comandante Umberto Maddalena, the main road running by the airport. Once exiting the Arrivals area of the airport, you will cross over to the P5 parking lot and follow the signs toward the car rental building, where each office will be signed individually and easy to locate. There are also some Naples Airport car hire offices in the Arrivals area.

  • What kind of car is recommended while traveling in Italy?

When traveling through small towns or historic areas, you will find that many roads are narrow and cobbled and you may feel more comfortable in a compact vehicle if you are planning a lot of drives to and through these areas. If your general itinerary includes some of these areas, but more generalised travel around the cities, towns and countryside, a standard vehicle is absolutely fine, but if traveling in a family or group you may be more comfortable in an SUV or van.

Poor- i will be asking for a refund. The car i was supposed to rent was for 7 passenger's. They did not have a 7 passenger car and was told the car they had for me was the only one available and only sat 5. With our people and luggage that did not work. We had to leave luggage at out first destination and return to get it at the end of our trip. It cost us $300 to store luggage, an extra night at a hotel, an extra day of car rental to retrieve the luggage, extra food and fuel. All told $500euro. Sixt was not accommodating

We had not planned on hiring a car but circumstances changed and we needed one when we landed . I approached the desk to seek availability and got a yes for €350 a day which was ridiculous. I went on line and got the same car for €125 a day, when I went back to the desk with my confirmation number I was told I had to wait one hour for service even though there was no customers there at that time. One hour later the lady gave us the car but not without major drama about insurance and unlimited attempts to upsell us a different car and more insurance.

Very good customer service for pick up, very nice people, friendly and very helpful. Easy drop off as well. Good company, like. I only gave it bad rating in cleanliness and price. Little dirty inside and pretty dirty outside, seems like they just passed the vacuum cleaner after receiving it and that’s it. Great car though! Very comfortable, spacious, GPS, CarPlay and USB charger… But also crazy expensive 900 euros for 3 days…

Hertz rep at the counter argued I booked the wrong category and proposed me a smaller compact car while my booking clearly mentioned suv compact. Finally managed to get it after arguing with him who «kindly » proposed me the proper car « for free ». The car park was full of suv compact cars so definitely not a shortage issue. Very unpleasant start of the week.

CAUSION they are thieves / scam artists. the method they applied on me (and i saw it when i returned the car on two other people): - claim there's an issue with the reservation. in my case: > claim driver's license from outside the EU isn't valid > i showed them the website that confirms validity as international - said it isn't in Italian > showed them the Italian regulation, in Italian - said it's not in their policy - forced me to pay 100 Euro additional insurance per day or they will leave me in the worst part of Napoli with two kids to fend for myself. be careful!

Flexway is just a broker. There’s no such company in Naples. Directions to the office poor and we spent an hour walking around before we found an office. It was not the Flexway but company called C rent. First they cheated on us by extorting hundred euros for insurance that I had with my credit card insinuating that I need an international drivers license. I’ve been renting cars in Europe twice year for many years and nobody ever requested that. They refused to rent me a car without buying this additional insurance. They brought me the a car much smaller that the one I ordered first and there are no cars on premises. It took me more than an hour before they finally brought my car. Very disappointed experience. Will never rent from them again.

Please save your users the headaches associated with this company. They charged us $507 for a black rub mark on the bumper that we did put there. They looked to find something to charge us for. I had 8 photos of the car before I rented it. It had dings and scrapes, so I thought I was pretty thorough with my photo documentation. But when we returned the car, it was obvious they were on the hunt. They pointed to every little thing and would say..."No picture, you pay". After looking at all my pictures, they noticed I didn't have one of the lower corner of one bumper. There was a little black mark that almost entirely rubbed off. But they coerced me to sign the damage report by saying I wouldn't get my $1200 deposit back. Just an absolutely horrible experience. Never again. Beware!
