8.0 Excellent
Pros: excellent location for attractions and easy car park
Cons: can smell the smoke even booked non smoke room. the smoke was from other room near my room.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The facilities and services
Cons: No coffee in the room.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Everything We will come back
Cons: The lady attendant at the onsen is rude and needs to be able to communicate in English. She was yelling in Japanese. Due to her age we didn’t say anything as a sign of respect. The rules signs are not properly display and should be display at the entrance of the lockers not in the onsen. The rest of the staff was very kind and made a lot of efforts to made themselves understood.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Perfect location Nice onsen bath Clean room Great buffet both dinner & breakfast
Cons: Crowded Parking car system ( lift) Expensive
7.1 Good
Pros: Service is excellent. Japanese are just kind and polite. Onsen is good. But nothing more. Not that value for money imo
Cons: Opt for kaiseki meal. However we are not sure how to eat that. Feeling a bit lost without any guide. Room is a bit dated. A lot your group tourist.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Extremely huge property with many facilities. Loved the onsen and the massage.
Cons: The buffet breakfast and dinner may have lots of variety but it’s the same everyday
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location, the hotel is just right beside the Hell Valley. Great of both buffet breakfast and dinner which there are a lot of selections for you. The onsen is also huge plus many options.
Cons: The check-out time was quite early and can get only 1 hour late check-out even they charge you. The dinning area was cramped for the amount of people and also noisy.
Takinoya Bekkan Tamanoyu - Noboribetsu - Building
4
8.6 Excellent (1,294 reviews)
C$ 210+
7.1 Good
Pros: Short 5-10min walk to Hell's Valley.
Cons: Was mislead during booking as this is Takinoya Tamanoyu, not the Takinoya which looks a lot more modern and upscale. When booking this, one can easily be mislead from a quick online search into thinking this is the nicer ryokan. Staff at this place were friendly, however the kaiseki dinner was not served in your room, and it was subpar at best. Fish was dry, no beef was served, only pork... Not what you would expect from a highly rated ryokan stay. Onsen area was small. Overall, this hotel was simply old, tired, and worn. Place was still kept clean and you'll have a fine stay as long as your expectations are tempered. Also do not expect any exceptional dinner/breakfast service. Would book a differeny hotel only room without dinner/breakfast at the price point this ryokan offers, as their value proposition for including meals is simply not worth the costs.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Onsen was fabulous! Great space to wind down and relax.
Cons: Food was a bit too traditional for our liking, would have preferred a bit more variety like soba and tempura.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location, very clean, great onsen & excellent Omotenashi. Good communication. Great dinner. Even though we checked in late they kept dinner for us & arranged a special room for us to have the dinner
7.0 Good
Pros: Great experience in a traditional Japanese style hotel
Cons: Dinner was good but not as I expected, breakfast was too simple. If I paid that amount of money, I would expect a bit more
7.0 Good
Pros: The staff is great, really friendly. There is a rice ceremony every morning that is really fun. The onsen is nice, the place really quiet and relaxing
Cons: The meals are served pretty much in a rush, more slowly would be great.
9.2 Excellent
Cons: The food wasnt as good as expected. The environment and the hospitality are top .
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Price good
Cons: Hot spa place a little bit small

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything : really nice and helpful staff Excellent breakfast Good proximity to the city center and sight seeings Free shuttle bus I recommend 100% this hotel!!!!
Cons: Nothing
7.5 Good
Pros: Very attentive staff. The view over the small garden at the front. The onsen were lovely and felt very authentic.
Cons: Overall space felt a bit tired. Located right on the road (although the road is fairly quiet) , rooms - although deodorised - still had a faint smell of smoke.
5.5 Okay
Pros: The staff were really helpful, breakfast was great and enjoyed using the onsen. Also a nice traditional ryokan feel.
Cons: I think it was really expensive for what we got. Though I knew the price in advance I thought we would get more for it. The property is right on the main road which is a little disconcerting though it didn’t really affect us once inside. Though the volcanic countryside itself is interesting and well worth a visit, the town itself is pretty underwhelming.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The hotel has a really good spa. The dinner was delicious and the room was clean. On the first floor, you can relax with a free drink.
Cons: It takes about 8 minutes to reach the center of the hot spring town. But if you ask, they will drive you to the convenience store.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Peaceful place for relaxation, the staff was super helpful and the service was exceptional. The room was very large and clean, full of amenities and facilities (fan, air purifier, sock, yukata, shower kit, etc.). Kaiseki dinner was amazing, the food was prepared by the ingredients in that season. The breakfast is full of local dishes, and various foods. They also provided shuttle service from the JR station.
Cons: The onsen is a bit small, maybe crowded at the peak time (before the dinner).

7.9 Good
Pros: Location, service and facilities are good
Cons: English of staffs can be improved
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everthing is perfect! The room is clean, tatami is rellay comfy. Onsen is worth trying espcially the outdoor one. Dinner was served by elder ladies, so my mom couldn't stand there watching them serving food/collecting the spares without giving a hand. Anything, I will choose this hotel again next time when I come to Noboribestu.
Cons: Nothing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is located in the entrance of the onsen street, opposite the bus terminal and just 15 minutes walk from the hellish valley. The Japanese style room is spacy and clean and the onsen inside the hotel is very good. The buffet breakfast is excellent.
Cons: None

10.0 Excellent
Pros: While Noboribetsu Onsen hotels are big and crowded, this ryokan is couple km remote from that area, and so quiet and good for resting. Host is kind, caring, and can speak English. Good for the family holidays especially when you have some senior member.
Cons: Payment is in cash only.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great place to stay, a little out of the way from Noboribetsu-onsen town, but this is a good thing if you want some peace and quite. The onsen was great, super friendly English speaking staff. Dinner and breakfast portions are huge.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Dinner was great, one of the best we had in Hokkaido. Owner was also very friendly and welcoming!
Cons: N.A.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: It was very traditional and interesting. The staff were very nice and helpful. The Onsen was nice. The breakfast was very Japanese and it was very interesting to me.
Cons: The booking page didn't state that there is a curfew at 9 pm. No wifi, no washing machine.
5.8 Okay
Pros: They have a shuttle bus which can pick you up at the station. In the onsen there are a lot of creams and oils and other personal care for your body.
Cons: It's located far away from the train station and attractions (death valley) which is a bit of a problem when travelling by train. Place is very expensive and old fashioned and seems less focused on English speaking travellers (everything was only in Japanese). We think is not worth that amount of money. The onsens are very hot (41 + 43 C) so we were able to sit in them for only a few minutes. They have an evening clock: you have to be in the hotel before 21.00. Breakfast and dinner are typical Japanese, including the dish Natto (fermented soybeans).
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Exceptional hospitality and outstanding meals!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very clean. Staff friendly. Good breakfast. Parking is in front of the property.
Cons: Not near the main onsen town. No activity at night.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good for people who want to enjoy peace and quiet. Fine food. Most of the staff are friendly
Cons: The air circulation in the indoor bath area can be improved. Should list no AC in the rooms on the webpage

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely, somewhat older establishment with excellent service and a classic feel. The food was very good and the in room service of the meals was great. The room was large with a separate entrance hall, main room, and bedroom with two twin beds.
Cons: There was only one outdoor bath (two indoor) so they switched the outdoor bath between men and women. Not a real fault actually. The men got 9:30 PM to 10:00 AM. I truly enjoyed the outdoor bath at 10:00 pm and watching the stars.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The view from bedroom was spectacular.
Cons: We asked for non-smoking room. We clearly were able to tell someone smoke there recently. We complained to the staff, and were told it was the smell of warm spring water. It was a lie but I decided not to argue with that. They tried with air spray and air purifier (appreciate the effort), did not help much. The hotel room was huge but looked old and well maintained. The breakfast were so so, a lot of small plates, but nothing stand out.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great location, friendly staff, good hot spring.
Cons: None
7.0 Good
Pros: The hotel has both indoor and outdoor onsen Free shuttle bus to Noboribetsu Onsen Bus terminal Delicious breakfast

Cons: Old rooms facilities Impatient staff at the shop
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very clean despite the aged and dated facilities. We thought they were excellently maintained. Enjoyed the onsen tremendously
Cons: Food quality was poor. I didn’t enjoy both the breakfast and dinner buffet. There was quantity but not quality.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The dinner buffet was good.
Cons: The room was so cramp & small. The toilet was the smallest we have ever stayed. It’s better not to have the suite for 4. Better to go for 2 hotel units for 2.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Got very good off-season rate - great value for money Food was amazing Big outdoor onsen pool Free pick up to and from station
Cons: Just for your info - onsen serves the local community so it got bit crowded in the afternoon, but empty at night and morning
7.9 Good
Pros: The food and space was amazing. The shuttle bus was very convenient
Cons: Although picturesque and a fantastically big room, we could not get comfortable. Strong winds the first night made the windows rattle and bang all night. There was a large rowdy party on the second night which made it difficult to sleep again.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly staff. Really good Onsen with indoor and outdoor baths. The room was spacious and comfortable. Our room looked down towards the sea over the mini golf course. Woke up in the morning with a big Stag outside the window!
Cons: Not much to dislike really! If you're in need of WiFi then be aware there isn't any in the rooms. Also, if you're at all tall, be prepared to bang your head constantly on low door frames!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were so friendly, helpful and accommodating, the sea view was stunning, the onsen was idyllic and v.relaxing, and it was a real treat to be served an haute cuisine Japanese meal, there were so many new dishes I’d never tried before! Would highly recommend.
7.5 Good
Pros: Great location if you have a car - with view out to the sea.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff, nice indoor & outdoor onsen, sleep on tatami mats, room with private toilet, nice Japanese dinner & breakfast sets, room overlooks the sea & golf course, free car parking
Cons: You need a car to get there and move around.
7.9 Good
Pros: Good location by the beach and not too far from Noboribetsu hell valley.
6.7 Good
Pros: Onsen overlooking ocean, all beautiful
Cons: Breakfast was just pitiful, spoiled all impression about the place, very surprising to get such in a true Japanese ryokan
9.2 Excellent
Pros: It's a 20 minutes walk from Noboribetsu station to the Izumi or a few minutes drive by car/taxi, so in terms of accessibility the location is good for a country hotel. However, it stands far off other buildings, is surrounded by green and provides a wonderful view of the coast. The Japanese-style rooms are clean and simple. My room was not exactly brand new, but very spacious and had a private toilet., The in-house onsen is available around the clock except for a short maintenance period in the morning and features an indoor and an outdoor pool. The Japanese breakfast was excellent and the staff very friendly. My two pairs of shoes were kept on a shelf in a storage room (from where I could have retrieved then at any time) and on the day of my departure they stood ready along with those of other guests, marked with sheet of paper on which the room (in kanji) and my name (in romaji) had been very nicely written, which I found a very nice gesture of appreciation towards the guests (I would have taken that as a souvenir, but before thinking of it it had already been torn and tossed away). In a few words, my overall experience was absolutely positive.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Set dinner was spectacular as was the view from our room and the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. Breakfast was lackluster, but, considering everything else, not a big deal.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The rooms were bigger than other typical japan hotels. The onsen is really spacious, has both indoor and outdoor baths. Staff were really nice, managed to dig out some candles for my birthday celebration (no bakeries nearby though). Its really near to Hell Valley and the shopping street (Not too long but there are restaurants, convenience store and pharmacy. It's really interesting to see hot vapour emerging from all the drain covers (as expected from geyser region). Lastly, the breakfast is really a spread, cater some time for the breakfast really:) Carpark is free
Cons: Nothing actually.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: A bit overpriced. However we had the opportunity to indulge in Japanese mores like sleeping on mats on the floor with minimalist furnishing. The Romanesque domed onsen especially the sullphur, iron and salt bath was awesome Alternating female and male sections allows a feel of both worlds.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: I liked the fact that this is the first hotel one can spot upon reaching Noboribetsu. This was my second time staying here and the first time I tried their onsen. This time was better than the last because I was with my family. I have always admired the cleanliness of the rooms. In both instances, I stayed at the ryokan-type room and all I could say is that the futon was comfortable. Special mention to the staff who accommodated our family of five (5) persons in one big-size room.
7.9 Good
Pros: the staff is very nice, dinner is delicious, the location is very good, just 2 minutes’s walk。the hot spring is opened 23 hours a day。
Cons: the bathroom is to small, pillow is not very comfortable

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Nice room size, room very clean. The Onsen was ok
Cons: over price and the Onsen need some clean up

Pros: All staff are very very nice. The room very comfort and we have a great dinner.

7.5 Good
Pros: Dinner is delicious
Cons: External Onsen area is too small, it will be perfect if the pool is enlarged with more space to enjoy the outside environment.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Really good food I got off-season rate and for that it was amazing value for money Pick up from the station and back Selection of yukatas Onsen mostly empty Hokkaido milk in the vending machine after onsen time;)

7.5 Good
Pros: Hot spring is great
Cons: View from room not so great, and dinner waiting time too long
7.1 Good
Pros: Truly traditional hospitality specially a show during dinner. Nice onsen.
Cons: 1.I was expect more for food quality of dinner and breakfast. We have to go on time otherwise the group tour would finish the food. 2. Leak bath tub 3. Too early for ckeck out policy at 10 am
7.5 Good
Pros: The property was spacious and had everything we needed. The bath was big and it opened late until 3am which was really convenient. The room had all the amenities and fairly new. The front desk was very nice and professional, and was able to help us with our problems, with some exceptions.
Cons: We got one of the dinner package and weren’t aware that there would be a no refund for missing the checkin time. Our flight was a super late flight, meaning we would arrive at the hotel at around 11pm, so there was no way for us to make it to our first checkin dinner. We feel like there should of been an option to exclude the first dinner or at least give refund if shown proof of airline ticket delay or hinderance that prevents us from making it to the dinner.
6.7 Good
Cons: There was a bad smell in the room probably the old Japanese mat and the air conditioner is quite warm at night time. And the crabe leg has a fishy smell (Sakurabou restaurant).
6.3 Good
Pros: The hotel lobby looked nice, the staff at the check in counter were pleasant and made it an efficient process. The room provided was clean and nice, having the tatami floor was a nice traditional Japanese experience.
Cons: The bathroom was smaller than expected and was fairly standard. The private onsen was okay, but not worth the additional cost, felt more like a glorified bathroom. The lounge in the private onsen looked nice though.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff friendly and helpful, especially the doorman they were very helpful. Onsen bath was great, buffet dinner and breakfast had lots of options, the traditional rooms was a fun experience, yukatas were free to use, the hotel was in a great location near the natural footpath
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great location and comfortable clean room with a good choice of Onsen. Buffet style evening and breakfast menue was very good
Cons: Noisy if you get a room above the river on the front

7.1 Good
Pros: The onsen and it's amentities and a big bottle of drinking water (1.5 liter) in my room.
Cons: A flat pillow and alimit tome of breakfast eating (50 min).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good lactation and staff is nice
7.9 Good
Pros: Nothing I can judge based on the price.
Cons: Except the dirty carpet. And the hotel doesn’t provide more towels for hot spring. Every customer has to bring the towel from his room (only one set of towels, a large + a small towel) means customers have to re-use the hotel towel from their bathroom). Obviously, the owner has a strong goal of minimising their costs. Manchesters, bed linens, mattress were very clean and comfy. But! Don’t try to step on the carpet without wearing slippers in the room. My feet were so itchy without wearing slippers. Probably, the owner hasn’t employed a carpet cleaner to clean rooms ‘carpet for age.
5.4 Okay
Pros: Just location
Cons: Room with no view and urine smell in toilet.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location and nice hot spring
Cons: Male Japanese staffs don’t speak English and not friendly
