We arrived a half hour earlier than our reservation time, and they had no car to provide. Other families came through, and they waited as well or left. A viable car for us came in, keys handed in were immediately handed to us. No cleaning. The car reeked of smoke, but it’s the only car, so no options. We took it, and it worked out fine, but windows were down when we could and boy do our bags of clothes reek of smoke.

The experience getting it was terrible. They don’t have enough vans to collect people from the terminal we had to wait over 30 mins and every other company drove by multiple times. We then had to wait in a long line to get our car. They just don’t have enough staff. Our car wasn’t washed when we picked up just rinsed it. The tires on the car were bald we slid in wet weather. No wiper fluid on the car.

Team told me that do you want too service activated as I was going through the toll gate, however she didnt mentioned to me that it has a separate charge and didnt specifiy how much the toll service fees will cost me. When I received 29$ (including VAT) charges, I called them and that time they told me this is the cost. I also checked online, wherein the toll services should have been only around $10 (excluding VAT), however not sure about this charge. Spoke with the agent, he said, they will issue a coupon for $29 for this miscommunication, however didnt receive it yet.

The pickup experience was awful. Waited an hour to get the car after making a reservation weeks ago. Also they added $200 dollars to the pickup fee which I didn’t appreciate. It was refunded at delivery. They had my credit card number, why do they need to do that? Won’t ever rent from Budget at Ohilly airport again.

#1 The line isn't a bother to get the car. But I've never experienced a line to pick up the car. We got our reservation and waited in line, in 90° heat for 20min. #2 I was charged twice. I was told my credit card didnt go through. IMPOSSIBLE, so we run it again. Again im told it declined. So I pull out my debit card and she says, it went through. Then once outside I see I had been charges on my debt card and credit card. The exact same amount. #3 I could have sworn I had prepaid for the car. Only to be charged again at the counter. Im going to look into this first, but im not comfortable that the charges were legit.

Full-size SUV

Picked up the car at Philadelphia airport. The car was not cleaned and smelled of heavy smoke and Weed. Called to report it and ask for an exchange. They were not helpful and said my options were to have it detailed for $100, put some air fresheners in the car or drive back to the airport and see if they had a full sized SUV available but we’re not able to guarantee this. We rented this size of vehicle to move my son to a new university so smaller wasn’t an option. I did my best to clean the vehicle as I didn’t have time to try and navigate getting the car detailed and $100 would not cover it. I put arm and hammer hanging deodorizer in the vehicle and drove mostly with the windows down. Upon the beginning of our drive about 1 hour outside of Philadelphia we had a flat tire on the Pennsylvania Turnpike which was dangerous. Fortunately an emergency pull off zone was there as this started to happen so we were able to pull off safely. The only authorized company on the turnpike came 2.5-3 hours later to change the tire and direct us to a tire shop. This cost me $90. We proceeded to search and find a tire shop to check the tire out. They said the leak was from a failed patch but they could repair it from the inside. They did so and we were able to restart our journey. This delayed our trip 6 hours and caused a lot of stress to our trip. Sadly, I am not really happy with my experience with Hertz☹️

This was so horrible. I was never informed by Kayak that there was a $400 credit card security deposit. I wasn't able to rent the car because I wanted to use a debit card and they needed specific documentation to verify an address. However, my driver's license had a different address since I had moved recently so I wasn't able to rent the car. I would've been more prepared had I known about all this beforehand which Kayak nor Enterprise told me about. I should've booked a ZipCar or done an Uber Rental. Would not recommend Enterprise at all.

I booked to pick up the car at 7pm. When I got to the location at 7pm I was told they have closed . I saw a gentle man inside the store and another gentleman sited outside the store. And they both told me they have closed. I was never told the store closed at 7pm. Also I got there at 7pm as booked but never attended to. That’s not professional. If you agree to attend to a customer at 7pm, you should honor your agreement . That messes up all my plans as I intended to travel that night

I landed at the airport and waited for the Payless shuttle van to show up. I saw the shuttle vans for Avis, Hertz, Alamo, etc. No Payless van. After 20 minutes, I tried to call the Payless location and they were closed. I had to rent another car from a company that was actually open (Avis). Please refund me my money for this rental since they were closed and I never picked up a car from them. Thanks.

Great staff has been hired at the PHL airport location. Each professional I interacted with first of all seemed to enjoy their jobs, did there jobs extraordinary well, and genuinely liked customers and wanted to make the experience as helpful as possible. There seems to be a culture of excellence and going the extra mile at that location. I will surely be trying Avis at other locations too to see if that culture extends across the company. I wish I remembered the names of the people who helped me at this recent booking and give them a shout out. The bus driver, a man, was delightful, chatty, great energy and care at 7 am on August 14, 2026. I did not ask his name, but I wish I could have given him a 5-star review, that positive attitude and excellent work ethic really cheered me up after a red eye. Then the rental agent inside was similarly genuinely great customer service. Also a man, and I am blanking on his name, he introduced himself - Raph? He was also exceptional. And lastly not to forget the agent who helped me return the car, his name might have been Chuck, tall guy. He was a pleasure as well. Cannot say enough about your team, and I have taken the time to write a review less than 10 times out of the thousands of requests that come my way. Your team is superstars, I wanted to make the effort to let the company know this and that I will give Avis another try because of them.

I went to pick up vehicle that I rented a month before get there they don’t have it. It says in the contract they would give me something similar I rented a 7 passenger van and all they had was a 15 passenger van that was way to big and that was my only choice between that and another huge van okay I understand if they don’t have my vehicle but to charge me an extra 46 dollars a day for something that was not my mistake is unacceptable so I had to pay an extra 400 that affects my finances for my family’s trip very unhappy and thrifty was absolutely no help at all needless to say I was furious I would love to talk to an actual human being not an aI generated person from thrifty they said it’s not their problem

I prepaid for the rental and my flight time was changed where the rental office was closed early on the day of my arrival. I tried numerous times and there was no local phone number for the location for my rental at the airport. Customer service was not able to assist, and also denied a refund for my rental.I was not able to pick up my rental and was charged the full cost of the rental as well. Highly unsatisfied.

Completely disappointing. When I arrived at the Dollar pick up spot, there was a long line Z. People said they had been waiting for more than an hour, and still only halfway through. I walked over to Budget. There was no one in line. Rented a car in minutes and was on my way, for $80 more. Good riddance to Dollar.

I set up my reservation online well in advance (and specifically turned down additional coverage) but the reserved car was not ready for me when I arrived, so I had to go to the desk where they apparently signed me up for the additional coverage I had previously opted out of - and I didn't find this out until the end of my rental when they charged my card for $200 more than expected. Be very careful when dealing with desk agents, they will scam you!
