Casa do Amarelindo - Salvador - Building
1
9.5 Excellent (561 reviews)
C$ 190+
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Casa do Amarelindo, you'll be centrally located in Salvador, steps from Cathedral of Salvador and within a 5-minute walk of Terreiro de Jesus. Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby, a 24-hour front desk, and multilingual staff.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is nice, clean and the staff friendly and helfull. The hotel has some reception staff able to speak english and spanish. My room was in the 3rt floor (number IX) had a confortable bed, with good quality of pillows. Tv and wifi are both available in all rooms. Good room service and a nice restaurant in the first floor. The hotel is located in a historical part of the city. If you prefer a beach hotel, you can stay in the modern part of the city and visit the old town in a half day tour. Churches and oldbulding are really nice and look like a small old Lisbon. The Salvador´s old town is safe enough taking the normal precautions. In many streets are police officers protecting tourists. You can take some private tours but is cheaper if you join to a "colective tour" with some of the many agencies located around the San Francisco Church and main square. I went to Guarajuba beach with "Cassi turismo". The bus was a modern and clean one and the service was cheap and basic but you have 2 or 3 hours alone to enjoy a beach day.
Cons: In my opinion the breakfast could be better. is enough to start the day but the coffe was served in a small thermo and was almost cold, and the bread was too soft. It could be far better if breakfast included free toasts and scrambled eggs for each guest.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast difficult as one guy serving all tables in rotation. Two glasses of juice not necessary. A lot of bread and cakes. A small buffet would be so much better where you could help yourself to food you wanted e.g. more fruit less carbs. Location amazing, couldn’t be better! Great staff, friendly, helpful, charming.
Cons: Breakfast (see above)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Casa Amerelindo was a splendid stay in Salvador. You are in the center of the most charming part of Pelourinho. It's like having front row seats to your anticipated show, outing, etc. Situated on a lovely street, with cute little shops, close to the square, to great restaurants and access to live music all day long. The staff were pros, kind and very attentive. As a solo traveler I felt at ease, very welcome and enjoyed my room. Highly recommend this part of town if you like being in the heart of things. And great breakfast!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location in the heart of the historic centre. Staff are extremely helpful from restaurant bookings, buying theatre tickets, arranging trips , general advice etc and speaking excellent English. Lovely roof top bar and swimming pool area with fabulous views. Despite being at the front of the hotel no noise/music from the street outside was heard.
Cons: Wish I’d booked a room at the back of the hotel with a view over the bay!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Excellent room with views. Beautiful decoration. Polite staff.
Cons: The service could be much better. It would be nice if they could recognize and understand some needs of customer.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Hotel has the perfect location to historic landmarks in the Pelourinho area , great restaurants , nightlife , souvenir stores . Most friendly staff & owner that go beyond to meet our needs , we felt so pampered , & felt safe throughout our stay . Beautiful, very clean hotel with the balcony terrace .
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff are amazing - friendly, helpful, and engaging. Can't beat the location, just a block from the main square. The food and service in the restaurant are also great.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: I had the pleasure of saying at this lovely hotel for 3 nights in early October 2019 at the total cost of around R$1750, including breakfast. I had a lovely bay-facing room which was beautifully appointed and spacious, and contained a huge, double king-size bed - a little strange to get used to. Excellent bathroom facilities, with various shower options, a double sink and bidet, with generous quality linen. The hotel is beautifully decorated in all respects. It is very well situated just off the main square of Pelourinho, overlooking the beautiful bay, within easy walking distance of most sights in that part of the city. The hotel has a small but delightful pool. Breakfasts were served by hand in the lovely restaurant, the only one which I experienced as a non-buffet, with large poritons of fruit, breads, juices, eggs and cakes. I had dinner one night at the hotel which was very good; there is an extensive and unusual menu, very reasonably priced.
Cons: The staff were in general very helpful and friendly - and ubiquitous, perhaps overly so as there were often more than the required number of people (sometimes 3 or 4) at reception - for some reason. I met Didier, and his partner, the owners, upon arrival, and the check-in was fast and efficient; with a free drink given on the lovely roof top terrace. There was unfortunately, toward the end of my stay, one major indiscretion committed by the staff in my case. I will not recount the details here in the hope that it was a once-off offence. The hotel management is free to ask me more about this if it wishes to do so (slon@law.co.za). This is the only reason that I am not awarding the full 10/10 to this establishment.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing hotel. Best location and great restaurant. Didn’t want to leave.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Really friendly staff, great restaurant and facilities. The swimming pool area is really peaceful and great to head to for a few hours after you've explored the city. The hotel is also in a great location and on the doorstep of the old town.

Pros: The chef, the terrace, entire staff from kitchen, and wait staff, front desk, everyone with a nice vibe and smile. Loved it.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful old building with lots of character. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Very good breakfast.

10.0 Excellent

Pros: Everything. Beautiful building and room, fantastic location, wonderful staff and brilliant breakfast. Aircon and wifi both excellent and steps away from everything in the old town. bit pricey, but you get what you pay for.
Cons: Nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is an absolutely stellar hotel with a fabulous restaurant. The historic hotel environment is like a museum. The whole hotel is filled with gorgeous antiques. The restaurant is utterly beautiful and the food incredibly special.
Cons: Everything was simply perfect.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful hotel, extremely helpful staff, great central location
Cons: very small swimming ppol
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Unique Hotel in the historic center of Salvador. It’s a good starting point to discover the city. If you take a taxi or an Uber other places like Barra are also not too far. Staff is super friendly, rooms are huge and food is good!
Cons: Because it’s at the touristic center it can get a bit loud in the rooms from the noise outside, but it’s not too bad.

Definitely worth it for a night or two of luxury! There are some nice restaurants in Itapua that aren't too far away. Close to SSA airport.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, close to colonial center in a relaxed and safe location
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Smart hotel with gorgeous rooms
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Just a short walk from the historic city centre, this is a real boutique hotel find. It’s tiny and cozy, staff are very charming. Breakfast is fantastic! The old city is tired but beautiful, very vibrant with lots of music and dancing (at the weekend at least), bars and restaurants to hang out in. Apparently it is not that safe at night but during the day and weekend evenings it was fine for us with teenagers and sticking together
Cons: Naughty Aram recommended a bit of a duff restaurant so lesson learned - just use the so called internet...! Still I don’t blame them and definitely this place is a find

Featured amenities include a 24-hour front desk, multilingual staff, and luggage storage. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours).
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Location, Friendly Staff, Breakfast. Very nice property.
Cons: I was traveling with a friend and we got a Double Room with 2 Beds... We are tall so the single beds are a little too small, but it was not a deal breaker.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property has so much character. A jewel in the heart of the historical centre. Staff is so nice and the breakfast is incredible.
Cons: After reconfirming our transfer with amended details our driver never showed up on time as he only had our original flight details, and we waited awhile at the airport.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The hotel style, decoration... nice staff, fantastic breakfast, nice comfortable rooms.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: On Praca Se, a 3-story with art decorated exterior with Afro-Brazilian decor.Great staff. Plenty of breakfast options. Fresh hot coffee. Clean. Room has A/C. Great location to absorb Pelourinho area plus easy car distance to area's neighborhoods like Barra and Vittoria and Salvador's museums.
Cons: A/C condensation drips on room floor.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is really very nicely decorated and in a perfectly situated location. It's a 2 minute walk from the main plaza, and a 5 minute walk to the Lacerda Elevator to get down to the dock. The bed was super comfortable, breakfast was delicious (especially the maracuja spread!), and the staff was very helpful - especially Aline at the front desk. She was super kind and allowed us to leave our bags in storage after we returned back from Morro de Sao Paulo so that we could go out and enjoy the day without our bags before leaving that night. Definitely would stay there again!
Cons: We had booked a room with two twins and when we arrived it was a king sized bed. We had to ask them to split the beds and the guy at night who checked us in was a little out of it. They asked if we wanted them to split it the next morning but we ended up being fine since the bed was so huge and comfy. Minor issue.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Had a great relaxation massage at the hotel spa. I highly recommend!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is new and well located into the city center. Room had enough space, bed was confortable and the cleaning service perfect. The breakfast was amazing with fresh fruits and juices. Staff has been very friendly and helpful.
Cons: The shower took a bot long to provider hot water. I think they could provider a laundry service.
5.8 Okay
Pros: The position, very central.
Cons: The staff is not very welcoming and helpful with clients, a bit disoriented, and they speak poor English. For international clients, it may be difficult to discover Salvador staying here. Early Breakfast (to attend tours in Salvador sold by Bahiacafe) is very poor (half of the few ordered items in advance) and not ready for the requested time. The structure is okay, but given the overall experience, I wouldn’t recommend it.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Aircon Screwed down safe deposit box 24 hr desk Mini fridge
Cons: Hard bed Leaking taps Shower Noises Leaking shower screen
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable, big Bed, nice breakfast, location

7.9 Good
Pros: Staff kindess
Cons: Bit old structure
7.9 Good
Pros: The breakfast is regional and with good variety. The staff is friendly.
Cons: The check-in is too bureaucratic. I'd prefer fill my data by my own, instead of answer questions. The hotel is nice, but need a modernization. The things seems a bit run down. The bed could be king size, the double bed it's just too small.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything in the hotel is perfect. I liked the view that one could have from his window and the big variety of foods for breakfast the most. The space for eating breakfast was great and also the space near the swimming pool. We didn't even have time to explore all the facilities!
7.5 Good
Pros: Great breakfast!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely modern clean hotel with huge heated pool outside and good gym and spacious rooms with view over city Totally delicious breakfast Good value Not in old centre but easy to get there by taxi or Uber and a welcome relax during our trip in Brazil
Cons: Loved it all
5.4 Okay
Pros: The view from the balcony (13th floor) was really nice! Nice welcome with some local cookies at arrival. Room had a nice, if somewhat dated, design. Possibility to store luggage due to early arrival before the room was ready. Good breakfast with plenty of options.
Cons: Neither the A/C nor the safety box was working. Due to the temperature and humidity sleep was really bad. The english instruction for the safety box was not alligned with how the safe actually seemed to work - not possible to set new code. The non working safety box meant we needed to carry with us all the valuables each time leaving the room. Plenty of road works ongoing in vicinity of hotel - so add a few minutes on planned transportation times if arriving/departing by car.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Piscina, breakfast and employees
Cons: Tudo otimo

9.2 Excellent
Pros: I like the nice design of the hotel, decoration of bedroom not depressing for once! Very nice staff and very clean. They changed sheets everyday and towels are pretty new and soft. Very large shower and good air conditioning.
Cons: Breakfast is boaring, only one lift seems to work and is dark so little hard to see the numbers. Tv channels can’t be change to English language, no one ! That’s annoying considering that is a tourist and business hotel. Cons: Nothing. Had a small issue communicated to the management and a solution was immediately offered. It is a family business and that's great, they have the power and independency to directly solve any issues. 10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very clean and right on the beach in the Barra neighborhood. Within easy walking distance of lots of shops, restaurants, the mall and a supermarket. We had a spectacular view of the beach and the lighthouse from our balcony. Breakfast each morning had a ton of options and was delicious. Staff really went above and beyond for customer service - one of our bags never made it to our destination and was stuck in the São Paulo airport, and staff helped us call the airlines multiple times to figure out the situation. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Cons: When I wend downstairs for my lunch wasn't enough table for everyone, so I had to have my lunch in my room, which wasn't ideal . The rest was perfect.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast is very generous, offers a good variety of products and of good quality. The staff is very good in general, among which Francis and Maria were very helpful and attentioned. The room was quiet and well isolated from the noise of the avenue.
Cons: The noise of the machinery of airconditioner outside the hotel.
9.4 Excellent
Pros: The service and staff were both very good. The location is a bit out and away from the beach, however, the hotel itself is first class.

Pros: The spacious room ,the comfortable beds ,the nice breakfast and especially the sky bar . Also the staff were very nice ,the day we checked in we were extremely tired arriving at 5:00 am after a flight delay, they did the check-in quickly and granted us a quiet room as requested .
Cons: The day we checked out there was a problem with the A/C in the hotel so it was hot in the room but they were working to fix it .
4.6 Okay
Pros: Breakfast was ok, it used to be a lot better in the past. However WIFI was good
Cons: The rooms are in desperate need of renovation. There were not toiletries in the bathroom, only one glass, the floor of the bathroom was wet
5.8 Okay
Pros: Air con cold Wifi solid Nothing wrong just very basic Staff efficient check in
Cons: Location isn't great, shopping centre 10mins walk is about it Very run down, tap and shower handle falling off Lights flicker Toilet doesn't flush properly Below par for the rating it has Lifts very slow Breakfast wasnt anything special
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great for the price. Well located withing walking distance from Salvador shopping. Good internet.
Cons: Sometimes the elevator does not read the card. Shower too close to the door. Those are minor things though.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The bed is comfortable and the room is big
Cons: It was not clean, it’s far away from downtown, the breakfast is not good and they don’t even give a free bottle of water
5.8 Okay
Pros: Breakfast was pretty good. And the bedroom is cozy and spacious.
Cons: There was a party on the rooftop bar, open to the general public (non-guests), that really bothered the guests. There was shouting and loud noises, atendees had unrestricted access to the hotel floors and the common areas were really dirty during and after the party. We were only informed about the event when I was not allowed to enter the swimming pool (also on the rooftop).
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The location was perfect, just 5 min walk to a huge shopping mall where you could find everything. Service from hotel staff was excellent, always very friendly and provided great recommendations for tours of the city and surroundings. The sky lounge at the rooftop is an amazing place to have a drink or relax with a wonderful view of the city. Room very comfortable and spacious.
Cons: Wifi signal in the room was not always the best, you had to move a lot within the room to find a good spot to get signal. Desk in my room was a bit old and damaged, but very small details, my stay overall was very pleasant.
7.9 Good
Pros: Breakfast is great! Bed is comfortable and nice, room is spacious. Hotel is easily reached from everywhere, we used Uber all the time. Very close to a big shopping mall (walking distance) that has shops, supermarket and restaurants.
Cons: Water in the shower does not drain properly so there is always water on the floor (room in 22nd floor). I have reported this on the first day but it seems there is nothing they can do other than mop it during daily cleaning of the room. The last couple of days, toilet has also same draining problems. Key cards were not working a couple of times while staying there.
7.9 Good
Pros: The staff
Cons: The aminities

Pros: The hotel was small but very nice and extremely clean. The service was excellent. I really enjoyed the restaurants.
Cons: My room was two levels with the circular stair which was a little awkward. But not bad. The lighting sometimes was not working well in the hallways. But otherwise it was a very nice day.

Pros: Everything
Cons: Nothing
7.5 Good
Pros: Always having some iced water available at reception - nice touch. Spacious room, and delicious cake at breakfast. Nice decor/style in the restaurant, and in some parts of the hotel, due to its artistic roots. Staff friendly and helpful. Across the street you can get Italian coffee and takeaway pizza.
Cons: Didn't try the restaurant as sadly it seemed much too pricey. I've stayed here a few times and it's always a safe bet, but some things in the rooms could do with a freshen up.

Pros: Amazing staff really helpful!
5.8 Okay
Pros: nice and cozy place. Helpful staff
Cons: Room had no balcony as promised. Extremely noisy all night during weekend as nightclub close by. Had to change hotel as they could not offer better room.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location Very nice staff Beautifully renovated colonial house
Cons: Too much light in the room in the morning! This makes it difficult to sleep
7.5 Good
Pros: The gent at the front desk was very nice - extremely cool, calm and super-helpful. He also made a phonecall for me, to translate in portugues. The breakfast was real good. The renovated colonial house is very charming.
Cons: I don’t know the other rooms, but mine was real bad: No sight out the window. Just a wall and the neighbour’s air condition, which ran all through the night, very noisy. The AC in my room did not really work and was shot off after a while. I usually don‘t need AC. But with the neighbour‘s AC it was impossible to let the window open. At 6 am started the kitchen‘s noise at the other side. I recommend: Don‘t take room 348 in the ground floor!!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Perfect location in the coolest neighborhood of Salvador - Rio Vermelho. Best bars and restaurants are a short walk from the hotel. Rooms are comfortably set in a beautiful old house refurbished with a new pavilion. Breakfast is great and staff is very kind. Second time here and I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Salvador.
Cons: They do miss a swimming pool to relax after long walks in downtown Salvador over Bahia's sun and heat.
6.7 Good
Pros: The breakfast was good, and the service was good too
Cons: The bed was hard as a rock, and the pillows were as thin as paper. The AC was older than myself, and we had to leave it on the whole day to keep the room cold at night.
7.9 Good
Pros: The room was big and comfortable . After our complain the manager granted 1 night discount on one room.
Cons: The room had a safe but we had to ask for the lock as at check in they din't provide it. We booked 2 rooms and when we came back in the evening one of the rooms hadn't been cleaned and the beds were not made, while in the other one all towels were missing. We complained and reported it immediately at reception. They apologized and said something but couldn't understand it as they spoke only portuguese. The next day at check out we were asked to pay the whole amount of the reservation, it seemed that the receptionist dindn't know what had happened. We complained again and asked for a discount, which was ganted
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Perfect location to discover Rio Vermelho, safe area and very lively.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved our time at Zank Hotel. It is a very beautiful hotel, quiet and relaxed atmosphere and very kind and friendly staff!! We stayed four nights in this hotel, the rooms are clean and original, each room having a different decoration - we had a great view on the beach (which I completely recommend to go to as situated 3 minutes walk from the hotel and a very quiet beach). The hotel also offers massages - I totally recommend the AYURVEDIC massage, amazing! Also, they offered a sailing boat trip, which we really enjoyed doing one full day with the family to visit some islands around Salvador - I also recommend taking this trip, even though it seems a little expensive at first it is very much worth it!! Great time, great place and great staff! Thank you!
Cons: I would maybe say that the wait during lunch or diner can be long - but then it is Bahia and we were still getting used to the fact that it is how it is there :)
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Staff were very friendly, attentive and helpful. Hotel was lovely, small with only 16 rooms, facilities and rooms were very good. Bar was reasonably priced.
Cons: Could do with a lick of paint here and there.
4.2 Okay
Cons: Very noisy room and not well maintained

Pros: The bed was super comfrotable and the bathroom spacious. The best part was amazing breakfast with local flavours. Some grocery stores nearby.
Cons: There's some costruction works going on, which means it can get pretty loud during the day. And the mess (plaster, paints) gets in places like halls and elevator. It's a quiet area, 2 km from the beach and the old town. Not much going on there. The staff spoke no English.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location for visiting the historical area and the scenic coast.
Cons: English is not easy to use!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: I liked the location and off-street parking most. The staff are also very helpful. My son loved the big beds and pillows, which were very comfortable and also great for horseplay. The water infused with pineapple, cinnamon, etc in the lobby is a very nice touch.
Cons: The renovations underway detract from the aesthetics and comfort and the breakfast room feels more like a canteen for workers than an enjoyable place to start the day.

5.4 Okay
Pros: The location
Cons: The pool time is a Little bit shorter than expected
7.9 Good
Pros: Most of the staff is very nice, with few exceptions. Breakfast give you the opportunity to taste local things, typical for Bahia and Northeast. They either explain you details of how to prepare the delicious cakes you can eat. The location is very convenient. Internet is not 100% but is ok. Wifi is free in the rooms and in all the hotel. Staff was very nice in call taxi and Uber when we need. As my flight was early in the night, staff was very nice in keeping my luggage for the whole day, untill I leave the hotel.
Cons: Negative point: Concerning cleaning, for the whole week there was on the toilet's window the rest of a soap used by some guest that stayed there before me. I would recommend more attention with the cleaning.
7.0 Good
Pros: Friendly staff, always happy to help you with anything.
Cons: photos of the property tends to show you the sea view when in reality there is indeed one, only from really few points of the hotel, also i should have had a swimming pool view... i had a view straight to a wall which didn't even allow us to see the sky.
