10.0 Excellent
Pros: What a lovely spot, close enough to everything, yet it feels like a little private oasis. The owner and the staff are warm and helpful and went out of their way to make sure we had what we needed.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The villa was comfortable and had a lovely view of the surrounding trees and wildlife. We loved watching the monkeys in the trees while having breakfast or taking a swim! The big water dispenser in the room was a very nice and thoughtful amenity. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Thank you for helping us with all our questions and booking tours!
Cons: The shower pressure and temperature was difficult to control.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything. One of the most peaceful places I have ever stayed in. It is almost scary at night, when you realise that it is you, the room, and the forest. Nothing else. The room is so carefully done and finished, it is incredible the care with the place.
Cons: Nada
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is great...you feel like being in a jungle :))) many wild animals and beautiful horses on the beach. It is really a good place to relax and enjoy your vacation! Thank you for a wonderful time... great breakfasts!
Cons: Just one think would be more helpful...a small bottles of shampoo and body lotion in the bathroom would be great to have!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: I loved the friendly staff and the beautiful surroundings. The bungalows were private, quiet and comfortable. The hotel was clean and the breakfasts were perfect: we especially enjoyed the great coffee and the beans and rice. Our girls loved the kitten and the cool birds on the property. The howler monkeys in the trees were a great treat to watch.
Cons: I wouldn't change a thing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved this place! It's a little piece of paradise with the pool under the mango trees. A coatis came to join us everyday at breakfast, which was delicious and fresh everyday. Cindy was super welcoming and could tell us all the best spots of Samara and its surroundings. The apartment was super clean and lovely with the airconditioning. We really enjoyed our stay and we highly recommend it for staying in Samara!!
Cons: -
9.5 Excellent
Pros: What an oasis! Although a 15 minute walk from the beach and town, it was worth it. So restful, beautfully landscape. Wonderful service, lovely pool, great breakfasts, loved reading in my hammmock on our porch in the mornin. And the kitchenette with fresh water is so convenient
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect sanctuary just outside the hustle of the strip of shops. 15 minute walk to town made us thankful we had a car in the dusty heat. The environment is super chill, the grounds are beautifully kept, and the rooms are very clean with everything you need. The staff is amazing - welcoming, kind to our small child and very helpful with great suggestions on activities. Breakfast by the pool has everything you need including strong coffee and monkeys in the trees. Every day we commented on how happy we were with our choice to stay here. Pro tip: upgrade rooms. The cost is minimal and the space is worth it.
6.3 Good
Pros: Comfortable. Quiet.
Cons: Maintenance not up to date. Beach in front of the hotel ain’t good.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The location is beautiful. No need for a nature walk, as we were surrounded by it! We loved waking up to the birds, and especially the daily visits from the howler monkeys! Staff were always so friendly and Cindry was very helpful answering any of our questions. We didn't want to leave!

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very nice location on the top of the hill with great view and tranquility. Nice and kind staff and owner.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Location - out of town so quieter but within a short drive or taxi ride and there are great views to the ocean. Rooms were very comfortable and the pool fresh and pretty. Until the bar is finished there is beer, juice, wine and snacks available from reception and take-away restaurants will deliver. The property is in the forest so plenty of opportunity to connect with the local wildlife including iguanas, coati and howler monkeys. The owner and staff couldn't have been more helpful. A real little oasis.
Cons: Only downside was no full bar or restaurant for lunch and dinner. However a bar is under construction and the owner is intending to provide a full restaurant soon
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The grounds were beautiful, our room was nice and clean with a really nice balcony. The staff was friendly, especially Deanna.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Facilities prestine. Staff very friendly and helpful. Room was great. Good shower.
Cons: WiFi in room off and on but really like this place.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was outstanding. The pool was clean, cool and welcoming. I really enjoyed the nature so close by. Howler monkeys just outside by bedroom.
Cons: There was nothing to dislike
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful place. Lovely pool and gardens with beautiful views over two coast lines. Brian and Dianna on the front desk were amazing. Very friendly and knowledgeable and just a joy to talk to. The hotel is up a steep driveway so you do need to drive into town, but it's such a short drive and we never had any trouble parking. Beautiful beach with lots of great restaurants. Really enjoyed our stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very clean rooms, comfortable beds, lush gardens, fantastic breakfast. A quiet relaxing environment a short distance to the beach. The staff is wonderful, especially Brian at the front desk.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: We spent only two evenings at Colina Del Mar, but could have easily spent an entire week. We enjoyed the complimentary breakfast. Returning to the property for a dip in the pool after a long day at the beach was a treat. Bryan, the concierge, is charming and his energy infectious. His restaurant and activity recommendations were excellent. The location is just out of town, which is exactly what we were looking for. We enjoyed chatting with Shelly, the owner. It seems she is constantly making improvements to the property and truly wants her guests to feel comfortable, safe and welcome.
Cons: The driveway to the property is what my daughter would call "sketch". It's steep, narrow and provides limited visibility. I found myself white-knuckled and holding my breath as our vehicle climbed the drive and turned the corner onto the property. The driveway would definitely not deter me from revisiting the property, but I would like to have known of this detail beforehand.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Lovely hillside location with views out to sea yet only a short drive from Samara beach. Brian the manager was a brilliant and charming host and happy to do everything he could to make us welcome. We also saw the howler monkeys close up.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Brian and Diana were extraordinary serviceminded. Nice decor in room. Access to cold drinkingwater. Comfy bed. Nice view from balcony. Parking close to room. Good breakfast. A very quiet spot, which we like. Nice pool.
Cons: NA....maybe a Bar next to reception.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: An amazing hotel set in beautiful grounds. Wonderful staff. A very relaxed, homely feel. Excellent breakfast and home cooked meal every evening. Paradise.
6.3 Good
Pros: A well maintained garden, nice pool, quiet place, very friendly staff.
Cons: Bit too far away from Samara. When the river is too high (main road goes through the river) it will take you even longer. The room we booked for 2 nights was not cleaned but was resolved best possible by moving us to another vacant room (twice).
9.5 Excellent
Pros: We were 1 day to late and the hotel just moved up our reservation of 2 night. Even got an upgrade family room. We have added 1 night because all is so perfect.
Cons: Nothing
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Owner and staff team are helpful, very welcomming and trying to help you with every single metter you have (including usage of hotel PC and fixing the car front plate we almost lost in the river). Amazing people and really breathtaking nature!
Cons: This place is really lost in paradise-we had to cross the river by car (no bridge), but it was fine challenge due to the help of locals.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The garden is really wonderful and the kids loved playing in the pool after a day at the beach. Unfortunately we had no water the day we arrived but the owner was fully on top of this to get it fixed. She kept us well informed and provided free bottled drinking water as well as access to another accommodation for shower. All in all we didn't have much trouble with it and it surely adds to the experience of Costa Rica :-)
Cons: The pool cocktail bar was very nice yet could have stayed open longer (closed at 19:00). It wasn't the best breakfast we had in Costa Rica, though service was nice.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: A very unique hotel. It consists of cottages and walking paths on a large plot of well landscaped land, with a nice pool. The breakfast was very good. It was nice to sit by the pool and relax with greenery and gardens around. The owners are French, and bought the hotel in 2017. They are friendly, nice to talk to, and have done and excellent job.
Cons: The off-road drive to the hotel was a bit long. There are two separate roads from the hotel to the town of Samara. The shorter road was not available. It runs over a creek bed, which is dry during the dry season. But any rain and the creek is not passable. So we had to go the long way around, which is a dirt road with a bridge over the creek. Rather than 2 miles to town, it was more like 5 miles. We had an SUV so it was not too bad. But if you have a small car, that 5 mile dirt road can be a bit long.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had a great time in the "Flying Crocodile". Very friendly owner and great staff. Very impressing is the beautiful garden and pool area. Nothing seen in Costa Rica something similar to that. Thanks for the great 4 nights.
Cons: Everything was perfect.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: A beautiful setting! Unique variety of accommodations in separate cabins and "houses". Absolutely amazing trees, the canopy soared above us. Lovely pool with small bar for relaxing at the end of the day. The first (early) morning we were awakened by the amazing sounds of the howler monkeys. Quite an experience. We were also upgraded to an apartment with kitchen, 2 bedrooms and large living room from a more standard room--I believe because we missed our first night's reservation because of a cancelled flight.
Cons: The website I think says 10 minute walk to beach but rather it's a 5 minute car ride. It's certainly not an easy walk to the beach as I had hoped. Better pillows would be great.
6.8 Good
Pros: Staff was very friendly. Felt like family.
Cons: Scorpion in the bath towels
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful quaint lodging. Each unit is in a separate unique building. Beautiful location, extremely relaxing, gorgeous pool and grounds. To top it off daily breakfast is included and owner couldn’t be any nicer or willing to help in any way needed. Very highly recommend this hotel.
Cons: Na

Pros: I loved seeing all the birds and howler monkeys. The breakfast is excellent and the best coffee. Having dinner there is like fine dining. Excellent meals. The pool was wonderful. You are a 15 minute walk to Samara beach and a 15 minute walk to Buena Vista Beach. The staff are very helpful and friendly. I rented a bike for the week which cost 30 dollars.
7.0 Good
Pros: Food was great. Wonderful dinner. Very friendly staff. Great beach recommendations.
Cons: no tv but that is ok because most places with tv have few english channels. Some gnats in bath sink from bath window screen but not a problem.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: This was our third time staying at Samara Pacific Lodge and there is a reason we keep going back. As far as value for money there is no place better. The pool is amazing. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The breakfast is plentiful and delicious and their dinner menu is pretty affordable. The kids menu is a bargain and their coconut crusted chicken nuggets are the best. Ronald is awesome and the owner Clemencia is wonderful. We absolutely love the location, close enough to walk to town but far enough away for some peace and quiet. We look forward to going back.
Cons: There really isn't anything not to love. This place is the best. While you won't get any wifi internet in the rooms, wifi is available poolside and right outside the rooms.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Staff was very helpful and friendly. Probably the best I have encountered. I liked the peaceful hotel location next to a farm, but it is a bit removed from downtown Sámara.
Cons: The laundry service was too expensive and the clothes had a strange smell afterwards.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved the area. Not too far from the beach.Close to nature. The pool and facilities were great Lovely comfortable sunbed. Not too busy also lovely and relaxing.Loved the Restaurant and the breakfast was the best we've had in Costa Rica.
Cons: Nothing
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The staff was very attentive and friendly. We had dinner there one night and it was excellent.
Cons: There is a roaster in the farm next door to the hotel. Someone needs to put it in a pot.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The facilities at the Lodge were well thought out with various seating areas for relaxing, yet close to the salt water pool and rooms. Lots of families, some singles, couples and all ages. Comfortable areas for breakfast and dinner or drinks. Staff were very accomodating to all requests and inquiries. Secure parking (car recommended). Lovely resident cat.
Cons: Our adult daughter had a very creaky twin bed in our room which was rather disturbing during the night.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good value for the money. Clean room, nice salt water pool area.
7.5 Good
Pros: Several options for breakfast. Good location and parking area. Easy access.
Cons: Couldn't roll my bag to the car... maybe a paved 15' path to roll them?
6.8 Good
Pros: The pool was beautiful, and the breakfast in the pretty little restaurant was very good.
Cons: The air conditioning in one of our rooms was non operational and that was a bit uncomfortable. The staff tried to fix it, but it did not work.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Prior to arriving at the hotel, we had the misfortune of having our vehicle robbed. Upon arriving at the hotel the staff went above and beyond to help us contact the police and assisted wherever they could. This hotel was by far the best we’ve had while in Costa Rica. It is VERY clean, the beds were fantastic and the pool was delightful. We then stayed at the hotel that night for dinner and it was ITALIAN excellent. The owner himself was there and was very attentive to our every need. Thanks from these Canadians who are SO grateful for all your help.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly helpful staff, beautifully appointed hotel near two of Samara's best beaches.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great friendly staff and very welcoming owner, Gian-Mario. Amazing breakfast and nice clean hotel for the value.
Cons: A little far from city centre and main Samara beach (if you don't have a car) but close to a private and quiet Carillo beach. Meals.at hotel are a little pricey.

Cons: I was a little sad there weren’t washers in the apartments.
6.0 Good
Pros: The view and mud masks. Price on food was good
Cons: The internet said it had ac and it did not have ac. Would have been a deal breaker if it wasnt raining and 8 at night. So upset.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Charming hotel. Easy access to both playa Carrillo and playa Samara, both driving and walking. The pool was nice for a dip and admiring an abundance of birds flying by. Incredibly friendly staff made for a wonderful stay.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The man is Reception was very helpful and welcoming. The entire place was spotless inc. the breakfast area, pool area, and the room. The room was spacious and extremely clean and modern with huge tinted windows that looked out onto the pool area and flowering shrubs. The place was very quiet. The breakfast which was simple had a great fruit plate and all the Costa Rican coffee you wanted. Two restaurants that I would highly recommend are Luv Burger, right on the beach and Ahora Si more in the center.
Cons: A kitchen would have been nice but not a negative when you are only there for a few nights. They also had a huge fridge that you could put your food into.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The front desk staff were so friendly and always available to answer any question! The breakfast was very good each morning. The hotel was a short bike ride to beautiful beaches and a great little town.
Cons: The breakfast could have been extended later than 9am. We left something in the room and realized before we left to claim it but the cleaning ladies already had it in their room...in a bag... seemed like they were going to take it for themselves??

7.0 Good
Pros: Good location, staff were nice, room was clean and quiet.
Cons: Bit weird they insist on you bringing the AC and TV remotes to the reception at check out, dampens any feeling of staying in a nice place. Intermittent smell of sulphur, though I did not mention it to reception as we were only staying one night.
6.3 Good
Pros: Staff were friendly.
Cons: Felt like a motel. The beds had one thin sheet and if you wanted a blanket you had to go to reception to request. Not great when you only realise late at night as you're going to bed late at night. Bathroom very dated.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful and peaceful room.
Cons: Cold water in the shower most of the time.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Not what I expected. It was more spread out than what appeared from the road entrance. We loved the place.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was spacious and comfortable. The pool area and garden were lovely and we had a balcony overlooking these. We have stayed in three hotels in Samara and this was the best.
Cons: Nothing!

Pros: This place is a little hidden gem. From the outside doesnt look like much but once go in its something else. The room is nice and clean. The bed is very comfortable. Is located walking distance to town. The staff is very friendly.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable hotel at very reasonable rates. Has all facilities you need. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Samaria beach is a pure gem and thankfully not been spoilt by the crowds. Hotel only 200m from beach.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Pools were lovely. The grounds were really nice, every room has its own outdoor space to sit. The gardener has done a brilliant job, nice plants and doesn't feel like you're in an urban area.
Cons: Parking was trickier than other places a bit further out of town, but that's to be expected because the location is really convenient for walking to lots of different places and the beach.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: We loved the cleanliness of the room and bathroom. The breakfast was good and the pool near our room was especially clean. The staff is awesome. Towels were changed daily.
Cons: Parking was only available for 5 or 6 cars...then one would need to double park and leave keys with the desk...inconvenient. Although three breakfast options were available, it would be nice to have a few more options for those spending more than a night or 2. It would be nice to have a blanket on the bed. I brought mine from home.

Stefano and family are great, and do their best to make you feel at home. Towels and bedding are supplied, and there are lockers with supplied locks in the dorm room. Others who stay tend to be respectful of each others’ space, and quiet hours are respected.

Pros: Staff, facilities, room and environment were gorgeous!
Cons: 4x4 is a must to get to the hotel and it is a drive to the nearest town.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful place, beautiful property, lovely host.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Fabulous location 5 km north of Samara. Very quiet and secluded with good restaurant offering reasonably priced meals and drinks. Staff was friendly and eager to please. Gorgeous grounds. Playa Buenavista was only 1 mile; nice walk! Samara is a beautiful beach town with banks and most other services.
Cons: We prefer to use credit cards when travelling, which isn't an option here. Be prepared for rough dirt roads and a river crosssing north of Samara on way to hotel. Not difficult in the dry season.
6.3 Good
Cons: Changes in different rooms everyday! 1st room was no so good, then they changed to a much better room in the 2nd night. Money vs room was uncertain
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The place is a real treat. Great location next (5-10min walk) to a turtle beach (saw new hatched turtles on their way to the sea), the house is of very high quality, staff very friendly, apartments hugely spacious, overall really memorable
Cons: River-crossing: shouldn't be a problem for an experienced driver in dry season or with 4x4 off-road vehicle. However, you have to cross a (shallow) river (without bridge) on loose ground and can easily get stuck there under certain conditions (with a smaller car esp if having to stop or due to changes in the river bed etc). It's an approximately 30min drive to Samara as the 'road' is very poor and you have to cross the river for that. We had quite a few bugs (many ants, a scorpion and spiders) in our apartment, although this seems to have been a unique experience as other guests didn't. Our apartment may have stood empty for some time which might explain. It's probably what happens when surrounded by such nature...
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Staff was so accommodating and friendly, especially Emma the intern. Owner is a hoot and an attraction in his own way. Worthy of many conversations! Grounds are beautiful. Location couldn't be better. Food in the restaurant was good. Room was very spacious, quiet and a good deal!
Cons: Room was very dark at night and needs stronger lightbulbs. We didn't bother to ask about it because we were too laid back to ask, though. Some of the pool furniture was a little ratty.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Food was all lovely, location is a bit isolated but near Playa Buena Vista great beach.Super place to get away from "stuff".
Cons: It's quite a ways from town, nice to be isolated if that's what you are after.

Pros: Short walk from the beach. Quick and filling breakfast. Room was really nice, comfortable and well decorated. Starfish shaped soap in the bathroom! :)
Cons: Ants got into the room but this may have been our fault because we had a bag of food. If you have any food then hide it away! E.g. In the fridge!
6.5 Good
Pros: Staff are really really nice, breakfast is good but very modest. Rooms are clean but also very modest. AC is a plus. Beach towels are complementary.
Cons: Hotel looks much better on the photos. This is not a 4 star hotel, it's a 3 star. Very modest. Hotel is located at the end of Samara beach, a bit far from the city center and beach activities.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: We were there just overnight on a road trip but enjoyed ourselves. The staff went out of their way to be accommodating, particularly the manager. Breakfast was very good and the rooms clean and well appointed if not a bit small.
Cons: For us nothing
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Staff very polite. Beautiful sandy beach. Friendly and courteous town inhabitants. Amazing mountains and rivers around area. Restaurants in Samara of very good quality.
Cons: Far from restaurants and town center, unless you have a car, which we did.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Reception we were received by (oh my, I can't recall her name, after trying to say it , she said a 3 letter name, she will know who I speak of) the rooms were very nice, very clean, I had a sleep in as the bed was so comfortable. The said receptionist from the day before when we checked in, plus another lovely gal delivered my toast, fruit and coffee to the room. Thanks to my baby for ordering it for me! Plus she arranged to have a pedicure and facial done on site!! Thanks!
Cons: Ummm...NOTHING!!!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Most of all, the rooms are very affordable. Breakfast is basic, but tasty! We were served a plate of fresh fruit, then given an option between typical Costa Rican, American, or continental breakfast. Lastly, a tasty little tropical smoothie is provided. Pretty good for being included! The pool isn’t too bad either, given the price. It’s simple, like most amenities at Sol Samara, but is clean and cool. And if you like air conditioning, the units in the rooms are arctic-cold! Being from Canada, that’s a big check mark for me!
Cons: The building is in need of some updating. It’s an old one and it shows in some ways; dirty curtains, very creaky beds, dated design, etc. Even so, I’ll say that in my two week trip I slept better here than anywhere else!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice place and breakfast. 10 minute kayak to Isla Chora. Good air con
Cons: 30 minute walk to the town and nowhere to eat nearby
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Where nice surrounding, the beach is very close for morning walk. Bed very confortable.
Cons: The only down side is that you need a car to go out in the evening.
9.5 Excellent

5.8 Okay
Cons: The location is really good. The breakfast is good, the staff is friendly. My only complaint is about the bed sheets.... They are 100% polyester fabric, with that heat you cannot have those kind of sheets, for hotel industry never less than 50% cotton, and specially in tropical weather (In Guanacaste between 24-34 degrees) the cotton is mandatory, with plastic sheets the skin doesn't breath... Best regards.
7.0 Good
Pros: Pool with lots of space to sit or lay down but no wifi. Bar with good music and vibes. Great atmosphere and totally comforting and helpfull stuff. Always up for a chat or information. Soda included and very yummy. Breakfast included with different choices to make. Perfect spot close to the beach or downtown. Cold shower was alright because of the heat outside :)
Cons: Only little space in the room, bathroom door just closed if you locked it from the inside. Probably fixed by now.
8.8 Excellent

10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was our second time at the hotel. Staff is always friendly and the location is perfect. It’s nice to go to the beach and walk less than 200 meters to come back to the hotel to relax by the pool.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Location
Cons: Breakfast was not good, very minimum variety, Internet bad very low signal, no water last day to take a shower, parking lot limited
6.3 Good
Pros: The pool was nice location was good but not on the beach
Cons: Bathroom was so so and you could here everything in the rooms, expected more for that much money
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Located in the center of this small community down the street from the beach. Great staff, good breakfast, decent on site parking, good water pressure and plenty of hot water. decent sized rooms, all night security guard comfort, fun clean pool area, easy to get to and from other locations by foot.
Cons: Time for a little interior updating to be of greater dollar value to the client this would help validate the overall presentation of a persons stay. Still better facility standards compared to some U.S. similar type facilities in areas like Florida. A tad high in price compared to other nearby facilities.

9.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice quiet hangout. Spacious. Free surfing gear and kayaks to use. Eric is a great cook and he serves wonderful lunches. Bookexchange available! Outdoor shower. Easy walk to town along the beach
Cons: Bar closes somewhere mid afternoon..so make sure to bring your drinks from the local supermarket. Breakfast was a little overpriced. Hard to read outside at night with all the lights dimmed....
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic location away from the crowds while still an easy stroll down a beautiful beach to everything Samara has to offer. Staff was great, as were the owners. Rooms were clean. Felt safe the whole time. Kids loved the hermit crabs that run the beach at night.
Cons: Could use a little more light in the main part of the room. We had a room with a kitchen, and it was kind of dark when we came back at night to cook.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location. Location. Location. Perfectly situated just a short walk from town but you feel like you have a peaceful beach almost to yourself. Bahia was a perfect place to finish an adventurous trip through Costa Rica. So relaxing for me but plenty to do for the kids. A sweet little spot in a sweet little town.
Cons: N/A
5.0 Okay
Pros: Location and owner
Cons: Noisy and rooms were very basic, insects inside
6.8 Good
Pros: Being so near to the beach was fantastic as was having free use of surf boards, kayaks and boogie boards (although there is usually a hire charge for these). We were also only 10 minutes walk from the main road of Samara, with gift shops and restaurants. There were also restaurants along the beach to chose from (be prepared for walking along the beach at night). There was some shade, seating and 4 sun beds available for hotel guests which, as we stayed at a quiet time, were quite adequate.
Cons: Although the hotel faced the beach only 2 of the rooms did, with the rest looking over tin roofs and a small courtyard. When we arrived (on a Sunday) Eric apologised that the shower had broken that morning so was only available as a cold shower and as it was a Sunday couldn’t be fixed until tomorrow. The bathroom was also very dark. To be fair the shower was fixed the following day as promised and the light bulb changed to be brighter. We enjoyed our stay more due to the location than the amenities but this may have been different in a different room so be aware of this when booking.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is just great.
Cons: The lights in the room were a little too weak to see during night time.
7.5 Good
Pros: Great location, right on the beach and 6-7 minute walk into town. Friendly helpful staff.
Cons: Very basic facilities, could do with some tlc. No air con in the smaller rooms just a fan.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The location was perfect - literally right on the beach. I'm not a big fan of being sandy, so being right on the beach and having a little outdoor shower was ideal. The restaurants were no more than 5 minutes away, and the owners couldn't have been more friendly. We even had some little bats trapped in a glass light fixture on our balcony and as soon as we alerted the owner, he came up, removed the fixture and set all the little guys free! We stayed in the larger apartment and all I have to say is thank goodness for air conditioning! Also, on a walk to the main part of town we came across a troop of monkeys in the trees just living their lives. Very cool!
Cons: We did have ants in the room, but they didn't bother us at all and were on their own mission. We were very careful to not leave food around so we had no problem. It is a rainforest next to a beach so it was just what it was! Pura vida!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: We had the spacy apartment with balcony, sea view, and kitchen with gas cooker, toaster, coffee machine and fridge. The interior has its age but everything is in perfect working order, and the appt was cleaned daily. Eric the owner gives the place a relaxed atmosphere, but attended to everything we needed immediately. Food-wise, only breakfast and lunch served at the moment, not dinner, but Eric has good recommendationa where to go.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food i had was very tasty. I only stayed a night but being right on the beach i was really able to make the most of it. The owner Eric was super friendly and nothing was too much bother. A very relaxed and friendly place with an open air restaurant place on the sand with the waves just a few metres away! A great first introduction to the Costa Rican relaxed way of life. Thank you Eric and your staff.
Cons: For me, everything was perfect.
