Bay Club Hotel & Marina

The Bay Club Hotel and Marina occupies a long, low-rise property that first opened in 1985 on Shelter Island overlooking North San Diego Bay. The atmosphere is quiet, conservative and laid back, attracting the slightly older crowd, consisting primarily of weekend vacationers or visitors anchoring their boats or yachts on-site or nearby.

The hotel is located on a long peninsula attached to La Playa district overlooking North San Diego Bay, known as Shelter Island. On the north side of the property is the marina, while the south bay-facing side is home to the grassy Shoreline Park, which stretches down the length of the island and provides a nice walkway for a stroll or a jog. San Diego International is a seven-minute drive away, while Old Town San Diego is a 15-minute drive away.

The Bay Club Hotel and Marina’s on-site Quarterdeck Restaurant and Bar offers craft beers, hearty meals, and outdoor seating with views over San Diego Bay. Guests arriving by boat can rent out slips at the hotel's marina that come with free electricity, water, and WiFi. The outdoor terrace also overlooks the marina and has a heated swimming pool and a hot tub, plus there is an on-site gym. The Bay Club has the only underground parking on the island, and airport transfers are available for a fee.

The hotel features105 air-conditioned rooms, all of which have sliding doors leading to balconies with at least partial views of the bay or the marina. Accommodations are spacious and clean, with a beachy feel. Standard room amenities include free WiFi, coffeemakers, and 42-inch flat-screen TVs with free premium cable channels.
