Pros: Ok so the staff is so nice but room 414 had little to no water pressure and trickle of hot water...... I asked the front to change rooms but because they were full no possible.... So sucked it up and took Luke warm shower for two days.... Manager said he would comp a dinner at hotel eatery .... Didn't happen and no one seemed to know how it would work. Bed was comfortable location is great for San Jose . My best advice to anyone staying in Costa Rica is get out of San Jose and see the countryside unless u want to be in New York meets Tijuana

Pros: Location location location! Couldn't have been in a better location. So close to all the tourist spots and good restaurants. San Jose is surprisingly a great city to explore on foot. It certainly has its gems. The staff at the hotel was AMAZING and super friendly and helpful. The included breakfast on the top floor was certainly a treat each morning.

Pros: Awesome location, right in the heart of San Jose. Walking distance to the major downtown sights, like the theatres, cathedrals, and markets. The restaurant is great, and the lobby is well kept.
Cons: Rooms are run down, and not in the best condition. We had to change rooms because of bugs in the first. AC would have been nice.

Pros: All of the staff were friendly and helpful and their english was good. Jorge at the front desk was a super star. I'd had some challenges with my room on an earlier/previous stay and then again on my most recent stay so Jorge upgraded me to a suite. But they had remodeling construction going on and the suite was right above the noisy area so Jorge moved me to a nicer suite away from the noise and provided some other comforts to make up for the inconvenience. He really went out of his way to make me comfortable. The complimentary breakfast was excellent and the servers and cooks top notch.
Cons: Unfortunately the remodeling construction was loud in the mornings if you wanted to sleep in. And although the location was central in San Jose with easy access to shops and taxi's the street noise from vendors yelling sometimes was irritating.

Pros: Located just off the bustling central street, the Hotel Presidente offers refined comfort in their modern-designed hotel. From friendly greeting from the staff to a tasty breakfast, our stay was pleasant from beginning to end. The location allows any traveler to find restaurants and the Teatre Nacional within minutes.
Cons: For such a modern and refined hotel, we were surprised to find the window would not lock shut! Though we were up high, this "insecurity" may cause anxiety for some; for others, like us, we prefer to have the window open at night. Our bed was also surprisingly hard while among new bathroom facilities when also in a room with new bathroom facilities.

Pros: Loved my rolm because it was very spacious, bed was comfortable, everything was clean except for the trash in the trashcan when I arrived in the room. TV was great with different languages including Mandarin.. Beautiful vien from my room overlooking the city. Staff was excellent, especially at the front desk. They are bilingual and very informative.
Cons: Overall, I liked the hotel but I did not like the pool area. There were always meetings being held in that area constantly so I didnt have a chance to swim. The pool was small regardless. I did not like the restaurant or the service very well. I would sit down and 20 minutes would pass by without a waiter approaching me and I would sit where they could clearly see me. I then have to flag them down to put my order in. The food was okay and pricey. You could do better at McDonald's in taste and price. The free breakfast there was very nice. Good assortment of fruit, cereal, yogurt, meat, bread, egss, juice, and milk. Location around the area is not the safest. As a foreigner, I do not recommend others to walk alone. Use a taxi.

Pros: From the moment we walked in the staff were friendly, helpful, and throughout our stay they were always ready to assist, whether providing an extra towel or arranging transportation. Things you might expect, but with a far better attitude than you tend to find in the USA. The entire hotel was very clean at all times, which is important to me. Toilets allow you to flush paper, unlike many local establishments. Food was consistently fresh and tasted excellent.
Cons: No genuine complaints. Trying to think what I'd have preferred to be different, the hallways and bathroom were less brightly lit than I'd like, but not bad. The hotel is very much a European style and not intended to look local in any way. My teens were the youngest people I saw there, and it's not set up for young kids. Location is great if you plan to spend time in San Jose but not terribly convenient to tourist attractions...which is true of any hotel in San Jose.

Get 100 channels on television, some of which are HBO and English speaking stations and local South Florida news. Beautiful view of the mountains and city of San Jose. Great location. Pros: The buffet breakfast was great, variety and quantity. Enjoy that! The bed was very comfortable, did a lot of sleeping. The shuttle to the airport was free but it goes on the hour and you need to schedule your spots ahead of time.
Cons: Not a good place to walk anywhere. We wanted food but the restaurant at the hotel opened at 6:30pm. Better expect to catch a taxi or dodge traffic across the highway to go out. Also the restaurant was expensive for the portions, if you want your value, get the dessert bar for 6$. They will charge you for that bottled water they pour you. Wifi was cutting out a lot. They hotel had seen better days, lacking on the details of maintenance. I was happy for a minibar but was told it was 10$ just to unlock it so don't expect to have a fridge in the room. There was an ice bucket though.

Pros: The hotel said that the first three floors had no water service and all floors above were booked. However, we went to the fitness center on the main floor and the showers were working fine. The kitchen on the main floor also had a water supply. We found out later that the water line was a lie. The hotel used that as an excuse to send us to another hotel because they had overbooked. The hotel they sent us to had a cheaper rate than Barcelo. The hotel that Barcelo sent us to said that Barcelo over books all the time, lies to their patrons all the time, and sends them to the hotel we were sent to and forces the other hotel to deal with or try to make up for Barcelo's mistakes and poor customer service. Also, one of the reasons we booked this hotel was because of the free airport shuttle service. The shuttle never showed up at the airport. We were told there would be a shuttle at 6:30, at 6:45, we called the hotel and it turns out they never sent a shuttle. We ended up having to get a cab and we were not reimbursed for the taxi ride. For the ride back to the airport, I just booked a taxi because I did not trust the Barcelo shuttle to pick me up in time from the hotel they sent me to.

Pros: Beautiful green garden; Free Shuttle Service from and to Airport***; quality and variety of food; free breakfast buffet that was included with our stay; fitness room; and location of hotel in San Jose. ***Note: The free shuttle to and from airport had one problem. When we arrived in Costa Rica, the shuttle was not there. We had to ask an attendant at the airport to call the hotel to tell them we were waiting at the airport to be picked up. Maybe it was our fault for not pre-scheduling this with the hotel...Just thought it would have been better if they had some system down to always have a shuttle available.
Cons: Front Desk Attendant who checked us in was wheelin' and dealing with their WiFi access charge. We ultimately settled on paying $35 for our 9 day stay for WiFi service for 4 devices. The water in the outdoor pool was too cold to swim at times. Wish it was a heated pool. Also, I didn't like how the valet service was inconsistently quoting us for their private taxi service. You can ask 3 different valet guys how much it would cost to drive you to a destination outside of their hotel (such as a resturaunt) and they all will give you a different price. Best thing to do is to ask the valet to call a real taxi because the price of a real taxi fare in Costa Rica was always at least half the price of what the hotel was charging us.

Pros: I only stay at Taormina, It is my official "go to" place whenever I am in San Jose (I am there at least 5 times a year). The facilities are clean, the staff is nice and the rooms have been renovated within the last year as well. I love the casino/bar and restaurant and everything in downtown San Jose is walking distance.

Pros: The staff
Cons: When we got to the room we didn't have power for the lights or the ac so I called downstairs (the phone worked) and they informed me you have to insert your keycard in a slot by the door to get power. Weird but ok, I'll play along. After a couple hours of trying to get the ac to work and trying to sleep without it, I ended up calling the desk and having them take a look. They couldn't figure it out and moved us to a room right next door, which was an upgrade. The staff was great and helpful with the situation but the new ac didn't work much better. All in all, not a bad hotel. Great location, there was free breakfast we didn't get to enjoy, they opened my bottle of wine, and took great care of my complaint. However, there was a lot of construction which was a little weird to deal with and the ac is a huge thing for me. From the north and my house is constantly freezing.

Pros: Great front desk staff,(especially Christopher). Great walking location, such as, sight seeing around downtown, restaurants, shopping areas, and taxies was right there for your quick convenience, and even the city bus. Great breakfast every morning. I loved the place and look forward to returning soon.

Pros: Love the property itself and how big it is. Features an indoor and outdoor pool, indoor being part of Golds Gym attached in the rear. Big highlight was the breakfast that was included, the selection of Costa Rican food was absolutely delicious and they had a very wide variety and selection. The room was big, comfortable, and clean, and housekeeping did a wonderful job after the first night when we left the room in disrepair. Staff was helpful and friendly and offered suggestions on things to do while in San Jose. Free parking and WiFi were a bonus
Cons: The AC did not work so well in our room and kind of made a buzzing sound most of the night. The shower was busted in that the handle that turns faucet to shower didn't work properly and when you ran the shower it was still coming out of the faucet, thus interfering with the shower pressure. I did mention this to management the following morning, but they were unable to resolve the situation. The sink also was full blast when turned on which meant the water was getting all over the floor. These are minimal issues and I'm sure not every room is like this.

Cons: Our room smelt like mold. I think it recently flooded and they didn't properly take care of it. When we approached the guy at the front desk, he acted super bugged that we asked to swap rooms. He then went on to tell us there were no rooms available and he couldn't do anything for us. Also, when we checked in we were told the water was complimentary and 5 days later we got a bill for $90 for water. We talked to the guy at the front desk and he said it's only good for up to 1 water. He never told us that when we checked in and he wasn't going to do anything to help us out.

Pros: My family were located on 4th floor which had special priviledges such as happy hour drinks and free snacks while my granddaughter & I were on 2nd floor as we booked later than the rest. The manager, without hesitation, arranged for us to have a special pass key so we could enjoy the same privileges. What a great service! Beds were very comfy and the staff were great.
