VDL is an old stone building and has bee nicely done up in a modern industrial type look. The room was a good size and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was adjacent, looked fresh and modern. The bathroom was very cold with the entrance right next to the side of the bed. There was plenty of. Rockery for two people but no space to eat or prepare some food. The only place to eat was on the bed. The shared living room was also the entry area of the building. It had a couple of coffee tables and chairs but it was ice cold. It had a heat pump And a huge modern fire place which were not in use. So when we arrived it was like walking into a fridge

The bathroom styling was amazing! Very romantic feel. Little activities, games and bikes were more than we expected. The books were on point.
The wall panel heater could have been on prior to our arrival. It was great once warm, but took 2-3 hours due to the large historic room/building

The door locks were difficult to operate. It seemed to be a combination of keys cut from copies, cut from copies & sea air on the door mechanisms.

Loved the little touch of complimentary chocolates at the side of the bed when you walked in. The pillows were of the kind that envelop your head when you lay on them. Soooooo super comfy. The most immaculate of places I’ve stayed as far as I can remember. Plenty of tea, coffee to keep you going. Awesome little mini bar. Spacious bathroom facilities. Great location down by the water. My only regret is that I had to leave this beautiful place. Will definitely stay there again. Big thumbs up to the team at VDL.
