If you’re looking for a 5-star experience, then this property is hard to beat. Easily one of the top luxury hotels in Steamboat Springs, the Sheraton has everything you could need or want, whatever the weather.

There’s a heated outdoor pool, a spa, and a hot tub with views over the ski area.

I recommend booking this property in the winter when you’re treated to ski-in, ski-out access. I love that no matter when you visit, you get to enjoy free Wi-Fi and no resort fees. In my opinion, these factors alone make the Sheraton one of the best hotels in Steamboat Springs.

If you’re travelling with a group, or want a bit more space, I recommend booking one of the villas, which come with private patios, mountain views, and in-room fireplaces.

Trailhead Lodge is hands down one of my favourite properties in Steamboat Springs. I loved staying in the spacious condo with my family for a ski trip—all three generations of us. In addition to plenty of space, we had all the comforts of home, including a full kitchen, gas fireplace, private balcony, and a washer and dryer.

When it came time to ski, we only had to walk out to the connector gondola that quickly transported us to the base of the ski resort. Back at the property, we could enjoy splashing around in the pool and hot tub, as well as the free Wi-Fi.

Trailhead Lodge is easily one of the best hotels in Steamboat Springs and is the perfect spot for those who like to be independent and are travelling in a larger group.

Mariposa Lodge is the only property on this list that’s located in the heart of historic Steamboat. There’s nothing I love more than waking up in a destination and being able to easily explore the surrounding area.

From Mariposa Lodge, you can make your way around Steamboat on foot to see sites like the Old Town Hot Springs, Howelsen Hill, and Little Toots Park. But location aside, this bed and breakfast has all the homey touches and delightfully over-the-top service you’d expect from such a highly-rated property.

It’s run by a local family and the breakfast is made using locally sourced ingredients. The rooms and suites, which all have private bathrooms, are extra cozy, featuring raw log beams and rustic wooden furniture.

When visiting the mountains, it makes sense to actually stay in the mountains. And when it comes to a mountain location, no other property on this list can top Chalet Val d'Isere, which is perched at the base of the very mountain range that houses the famed ski area.

This cozy bed and breakfast is located in a beautiful mountain home. The exclusive inn provides guests with private bathrooms, comfy bedrooms, and a full, hot breakfast at no extra charge. Parking is free and local tips and advice are doled out upon request.

Everyone is treated to a bit more space at the Homewood Suites in Steamboat Springs. And in addition to larger rooms—some with full kitchens and separate living areas—you’ll be set right on the edge of town.

The promise of peace and serenity in a bustling ski town may be the biggest draw of the Homewood Suites. The property is located across from the Chuck Lewis State Wildlife Area, a locally loved fishing spot, and hosts a weekly evening social.

The hotel also has free parking, complimentary Wi-Fi, and a free daily breakfast buffet. What’s more, dogs are allowed in pet-friendly rooms for an additional fee.

If you can’t decide whether to stay at the base of the ski area or in downtown Steamboat, I recommend the Residence Inn. The property is just three minutes by car from the ski resort and six minutes from downtown Steamboat.

It’s one of the town’s newer hotels, so everything about the property is clean, modern, and fresh. The all-suite hotel offers ski and bike storage (so you can clean and store your gear without worry), a full-service bar and restaurant, a heated pool and hot tub, and great communal spaces like a fire pit and BBQ area.

As a breakfast person, I love that you can choose between cooking in your fully equipped kitchen or grabbing a complimentary hot breakfast.

When it comes to ski trips, it doesn’t get much better than a stay at The Lodge, which has long been a local landmark and is located just steps from the chairlift. But even in the middle of summer, this property is a winner. It offers plenty of space and a home-like feel that will welcome you back after any adventure.

I love that any “room” you book at The Lodge comes with two or three bedrooms, a fully-equipped kitchen, and a private patio or balcony. It’s the sort of setting that makes you feel less like a visitor and more like a local. After a day spent playing in the mountains, I highly recommend soaking in one of the property’s four outdoor hot tubs.

Legacy Vacation Resorts is a well-respected hospitality company that owns resorts in Florida, New Jersey, and Nevada. But I particularly love their Steamboat property. Steamboat Springs Suites is perched between the ski resort and downtown area and is within walking distance of a local grocery store and a great breakfast spot (don't miss a visit to The Egg).

The rooms at the all-suite property are all one- and two-bedroom, with a clean, modern feel. I love the fact they have amenities that cater to just about anyone—there are pet-friendly rooms, a complimentary grab-and-go breakfast, and access to things like a heated indoor pool, fitness centre, and hot tubs. During the winter, a free ski shuttle makes getting to the base of the ski resort quick and easy.

From the front door of Timber Run, the base of the Steamboat Ski Resort is less than 15 minutes by foot (and mere minutes by car). But it’s set back away from the ski area enough to provide travellers with a quiet, vacation rental-style stay.

When I'm travelling with my family—in particular, my young daughter—properties like Timber Run are my go-to due to their blend of accessibility and seclusion. There are several units to choose from in the hotel, all of which are uniquely decorated—some modern, some rustic, mountain style.

Each unit boasts separate bedrooms, full kitchens, gas fireplaces, and private balconies. The smallest units can accommodate six people, while the largest have four bedrooms and three bathrooms for groups of up to 10. Meanwhile, the communal space at Timber Run has a pool and hot tub.

There’s a comfort in knowing what to expect when you travel, and that’s exactly what you get at the Holiday Inn Steamboat Springs. It’s perfect for travellers looking for a comfortable, clean place to stay in one of the most iconic mountain destinations in Colorado.

I love the no-fuss feel of this property, which is set at the edge of town near the ski area (which is just three minutes from the hotel by car). It’s one of the best hotels in Steamboat Springs due to its great location, as well as all the amenities you’d expect from the well-known brand.

I’m a mom and a dog lover, so I appreciate their "kids eat and stay for free" promise, and their welcoming pet policy. In addition to standard rooms, they have several suites available, which are a great choice if you’re travelling with family or just need some extra elbow room.
