Pros: Beautiful new hotel in a secluded location. The breakfast was nice with many options. The staff was very helpful and welcoming.
Cons: All hotels in Iceland for summer bookings are very expensive - this was no exception. It is around 11-12 Km from Stykkishólmur to a bit out of the way and the approach road is gravel.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: We had a lovely stay at Hotel Stundarfridur. It is a small family-run hotel which is cozy and welcoming. The included breakfast was perfect and available dinner options were absolutely fantastic. Location is great for exploring the Snaefellsnes Peninsula. Staff were all very warm and helpful.
Cons: The hotel is heated with radiant heat in the floor, so it got pretty toasty in our room. There was no thermostat to adjust, so we just did as the Icelanders do and opened a window. With a small staff, sometimes there was a wait if several travelers needed assistance at the same time.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Service-oriented staff Relaxing atmosphere New facilities
Cons: Bad gravel road to enter. Be very careful.
