Typical pretty Swiss chalet style. The waitresses were lovely.
The room was very basic, no tea and coffee in the room. No toiletries in the bathroom other than a shower gel pump that was empty. We had a nice evening meal, but 170 euros for a couple of g&t's, 50cl carafe of wine and 2 courses is a bit steep. Also think that 17 euros each for continental breakfast is a bit steep.
A medium sized hotel located in a large village (Sedrun) some 20 km's to the east of Andermatt. Swiss type stylings. The room was clean and comfortable with a large modern bathroom. There is a free car park right next to the hotel.
The hotel has a good room rate, but the restaurant is very poor value. Being located some 20 km's to the east of Andermatt, there's not much competition...and after a long day's driving around the Alps you will be in no mood to search around for better value. Drive out of town and its a switchback road all the way to Andermatt. A 3 course dinner (incl. 3 glasses of wine) + breakfast cost me more than the room (88 Chf for a single bed) for the night . If the meals had been top notch then it might have been worth it, but the portion size of the beef main dish I had was a joke (and that for 40 Chf alone). The breakfast was pretty basic with cold cuts, cheese and Alpen (no scrambled eggs, bacon or fresh tomato, cucumber etc)...serviceable I suppose, but hardly amazing value at 20 Chf. Check out the Euro 12 breakfast at the Hotel Gustavia in Chamonix if you want to see an example of decent value for money in the Alps. Pointed this all out to management and was politely rebuffed...although they did confirm that fresh tomato & cucumber was available if asked for at breakfast. Also suggested that this was all due to Swiss prices and they were not out of line as such. Perhaps that's true...just bring your own sandwiches then and have a decent night's sleep at a decent price...!!
Nice location in the Alps and close to the Oberalp Pass. Quiet at night too. My single room was nevertheless quite spacious. The staff were very welcoming and certainly went out of their way for their guests. My motorcycle got a garage for the night. The onsite restaurant was a great experience, and dinner was really nice! Same goes for breakfast - which starts at 7:30am, allowing for an early start in the day. I will certainly stay again in the future. Thank you :-)
Great breakfast. Garage offered for parking our motorcycles. Great onsite restaurant for evening meal.
Everything was great, staff, ambiance. rooms etc.
